Speeding radar fine is the most common fine in Dubai. Many drivers drive much below speed limit to avoid these hefty fines and other get fines thinking that some leeway is allowed without knowing the exact grace limit.

Speeding radar in most of the Dubai road has been set to 20 km above the speed limit assign to that road, but sadly many of us are unaware of this fact. There are no traffic fines issued by Dubai Police if you drive safely within that grace limit of 20 km in most of the Dubai roads mentioned below. You will only get Dubai police traffic fines once you exceed the 20 km as radar limit is set to trigger flash at +21 km in most of the Dubai roads. Some times this lack of information causes drivers delay and slow moving cars block the fast moving traffic who want to utilize this 20 km grace speed safely in the fast lane.

Out of all Dubai roads, Sheikh Zayed Road is an exception to have two speed limits. The SZR that passes through Dubai has 100 km speed limit and radar will trigger at 121 km. Second speed limit of 120 km is set after crossing Jebel Ali (going out from Dubai), if you are driving towards Abu Dhabi and radar will trigger at 141 km.

We hope this blog post will help all of Dubai drivers, so that we can bring awareness of a difference in speed limit vs radar limit in Dubai and help ease up the daily congestion on Dubai roads.

Awesome post and zest of the whole post is a sum up of nicely mentioned point below:

  • Some times this lack of information causes drivers delay and slow moving cars block the fast moving traffic who want to utilize this 20 km grace speed safely in the fast lane.

I see these snail driver at 80 on SZR fastest lane EVERY DAY where I can do 120 safely.

Dubai police need to do some SUPER HEAVY fines for these slow driver in the fastest lane blocking the whole flow of traffic.

I think those snail driver drives in fast lane to purposely block traffic as no matter how much you dip light or go close to them they don't move aside. Heights of being shameless.

Just witnessed one ancient white RAV4 shameless driver doing at 90 (in fast lane) on the road of 120 and whole line of 100 cars need to overtake this monkey from right side. What point these driver want to prove? What satisfaction they get by blocking 100's of car with a dinky RAV4 in a fast lane.

Authorities seriously need to action something for these cases.

Start Early,Drive Slowly & Reach Safely. Major accidents are happening due to uncontrollable high speeds. Recently one major accident happen with the minibus rammed in to the truck stationary at the third lane, due to another accident. The truck driver cannot move his vehicle  to the hard shoulder as the vehicles moving fast on the other lanes. For the gods sake go slow & not to trouble others

Very good point raised, that due to extra slow vehicle in fast lane people drive very fast in slow lanes and then in such emergency situation some unfortunate people pays the heavy toll. Too bad. People here really need to understand to how to use fast and slow lanes appropriately as per their desired speed and not just by any other rational / frustrations.

OMG. I can't actually believe this was posted, and has been favorably received. Honestly. You need to print that out and keep it handy? It's 20 kmph, always! Just add 20 (ok, this isn't simple for the readers here) to any speed limit and you have the answer. I won't even begin to address the other issues here... common sense type stuff.
