I just love this car. I bought Commander an year back and I am really happy with the performance of this car. Be it on-road or off-road. It’s always an amazing drive with this car. My family also loves this car. I know some people complaining about the reliability of the car, but I don’t really agree with them. I love driving this monster.

Hey guys,

So I've been considering getting a clean used commander to replace my wrecked Grand Cherokee for the desert. Any of you Commander owners been tearing up some dunes? If so, how does it perform so far?

Please give me your feedback as I need to make a decision soon before the season is over. I would have loved to get a wrangler, but it's just too small and wont hold enough ppl/gear for camping.

Thanx in advance!

Hi, I have a 2008 Jeep Commander 5.7.

3 warning lights are appearing on my dashboard, ESP/BAS, ABS and traction control.

My cruise control does not work and the error message reads service 4wd system. I took the

car to Western Motors and they said it might be the speed sensore but couldn't be sure even

as that was the obly fault code coming up.

The car drives fine but today my check engine light also came on.

Any help or advise PLEASE???

i was experiencing some electrical issues with the Jeep Commander and so i repaired and replaced every electrical issue but it still has the random and very inconvenient electrical issue where all the lights on the dashboard light up repeatedly.

And for some reason, there is no clear reasoning or understanding for this as the car is running smoothly

Also earlier this week my ABS system caused my rear brakes to lock up on me. Frustration is starting to set in when it comes to my vehicle, cause I truly bought it for its size and durability which had stood up to my expectations until know.

i want to knw if others are having this same problem electrical problems.

thanx

As it stands, 2010 will be the last year that the Commander is going to be offered for sale as Jeep’s new owners Fiat have no immediate plans to replace it.

Therefore, if you’re after a big Jeep that can really tackle the tough stuff now is your last chance.

Think of the Commander as a Grand Cherokee that had a few hard knocks in its later years – though bizarrely looks like a Cherokee that’s been blown up on a photocopier. It uses a stretched version of the Grand Cherokee’s platform, but does away with the pandering to on-road driving enjoyment instead focussing more on off-road abilities.

Different four-wheel drive systems are offered depending on which trim level you go for. Serious off-roaders should go for the Commander Limited as it features Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II system which features electronic limited slip differentials to ensure power only goes to the wheels with the most grip – thereby ensuring good process in tricky conditions. The Limited version features the 4.7-litre V8 engine, which has a decent 453Nm slug of torque available from a low 3950rpm to ensure the best of abilities off road.

The more road-orientated Overland model features lots of chrome and leather and the more potent 5.7-litre V8. If highways are your terrain, then the Overland should be your Commander of choice.

Although there are a pair of additional seats in the back, they aren’t the most comfortable even for children to sit in for long periods, therefore you’d be better off putting the large load bay to load – rather than people – carrying duties.
