Premium and Regular gas

Recommended Posts

Well the whole game here is of the level of octane and detergent in the gas. There is a rating of octane in every type of gas used as fuel. Regular gas has 87 rating and premium about 92. There is no much difference. Some people think that Premium gas is much more better than regular gas, then let me tell you, it doesn’t really makes big difference. Check out the rating of the octane. Hardly there is a difference. Ya, high octane rating means that there are less chances of detonation in the engine but that is without any benefit of spark plugs. Detonation caused by combustion can be reduced with a regular gas as well because of the spark plugs. Talking about detergents, people who think that premium gas is more pure than regular because it has detergents in it then let me tell you, the amount of detergent put in the premium gas is more than legally required which means that extra detergent can cause harm to your car.

Some people may say that premium gas is a basic requirement for high performance cars. Agree, but it’s not because it is better but their engines are designed with compression. If you put regular gas into it, the detonation is a common problem you will face. But this does not mean that every car needs a premium gas in the engine. And if you are confused whether to go for premium or regular gas, then check your car manual. If your car is a high performance car with extreme engine, then the octane rating is always mentioned in the manual. If it is more than 87, go for premium otherwise regular gas is perfectly fine. Don’t waste your money on premium gas just because somebody told you to do so. Be wise, and think which gas will actually benefit your car.
