After the fuel price substantial rise, I am sure many of us will consider more fuel efficient alternate cars. Let's make this thread for listing the cars with fuel mileage from best to worst in any specific category you know based on your experience or on research.

Compact Car Category

  • Honda Civic: 6-7 L/100
  • Nissan Sunny: 6-7 L/100
  • Mazda 3: 7-8 L/100
  • Hyundai Elantra: 7-8 L/100
  • Toyota Corolla: 7-8 L/100

Very good thread idea Brandan, I really like it to see a list of competing brand models as per their fuel mileage.

Compact Luxury Crossover (my favorite segment)

  • Audi Q5: 9-10 L/100
  • BMW X3: 9-10 L/100
  • Mercedes ML350: 10-11 L/100
  • Lexus RX350: 11-12 L/100
  • Infiniti FX35: 13-14 L/100

Well the fuel economy gets affected from various reasons, just adding for people to know the key pointers:

  1. Newer the engineering better the fuel economy
  2. Heavier the car, worsen the economy
  3. Faster, more performance off-road / on road worsen the economy (trade-off)
  4. More number of gears offer better economy
  5. Timely serviced cars with right engine oil specification or synthetic oil.

  1. 2012 Ford Mustang GT: 13.8 L/100
  2. 2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo: 18.6 L/100
  3. 2006 Nissan Patrol (SWB): 20 L/100
  4. 2005 Mercedes ML 500: 16 L/100
  5. 2003 Toyota Land Cruiser: 18 L/100
  6. 2002 Land Rover Discovery: 18 L/100
  7. 2000 Range Rover (4.6): 20 L/100
  8. 1999 Mitsubishi Pajero: 17.1 L/100
