Hi,

Awesome effort for organising these trips.  I would love to attend but cannot for this one as I spend a fair time commuting to see the Missus on the weekends. I`ll keep an eye on these posts though.

Alternatively if there is any possiblity of after work drives from Abu Dhabi, I`d be keen :)

Regards

Habeeb

@Rahimdad  Are you going to give us some clues to which area we are going to ??

Sure @jason200, i am planning on entering Lisali Fort and taking you through some very picturesque terrain to the Qudra Lakes where we can enjoy as one huge family. This is just a 11 Kilometers stretch and we should be able to make it easily, however what this ensures is if anyone is having any difficulty and wants to use the road we will be very close to a track which runs to Qudra Lakes also. Another plus is if we reach early we can set up camp and families can settle in and start the BBQ while we can take a quick trip back to the desert without all the extra load.

Hope this is helpful for you.

The only problem near Al Qadra lakes is too much littering, as these days most of the groups started heading to that place..

@Digital Qudra Lakes is a huge place with a lot of slots, we will try to find a quiet place to have our BBQ. Better to decide when we rech there, will choose a few spots and take votes, majority wins in choosing the spot.

Driving off-road seriously come as a blessing in such scenario,  so we can venture out and about to scout a clean spot. BTW, below estimated track from lisali to qudra may excite everyone more here.

      Wow.
We have done everything from an absolute newbie drive for those stepping into the sands for the first time, to a slightly more demanding drive in some absolutely bad weather, to the mesmerizing sands of Lisali to a man made lake in the desert in Al Qudra and recently the on-road scenic drive with slightly different kind of adventure in the waters of Khorfakkan in the past month. So what is next? The option was left to those who attended the last drive and the obvious choice was to find a natural lake in the middle of the desert. Is it true? Is it possible? A natural lake in the middle of the desert....You must be kidding me!!! But, Al Qudra is a man-made lake and we have already been there!!!.
Hold your hearts as that natural beauty exists and we are going to explore it this weekend. So what is the plan? Who can join? What can we expect?
Plan is simple, we drive down to the desert where the natural lake makes it an oasis which we are in search for. Everybody can join, weather you have a 4x4, an AWD, a Saloon or even a bike, it is possible for all to join. Expect to be taken by surprise and we drive on the road towards some awesome dunes and a shimmering blue surface starts to fill the the light brown dunes, behold it is the lake that we all are searching for. For on-road drivers who jst want something new and different to do, this drive is for you. For off-roader who want a taste of the dune drive, lets do some off-roading that will set your pulses racing, this drive is for you. For those who love nature and photography, if you think you have some awesome photos during the day, just wait till the sun starts setting behind the mountains, find a favorable spot and lay your trap to capture some of the most beautiful views you can imagine, this drive is for you.
Excited... Lets get down to the details...
Once again I would like to thank all the active members of Carnity who have supported the drives by coming out in numbers and have shown the enthusiasm and the will to learn, the beauty of this area is the wonderful lake smack in the middle of the desert which can be reached by road making it a rare oasis in UAE. The plan would be to meet up at 10 am as per the below link and than head out to discover this hidden gem in the middle of the desert, for the Muslims we will find a mosque on the way where we can offer our Friday prayers, non-Muslims are requested to be patient during this time, we will than head to the lake and pick a gazebo under which we can set up camp and sit around and enjoy the lunch and chats where the secret of how this lake came about in the middle of the desert. It is a very interesting story. For those who would like to feel the sands under their wheels, this will be the time to head out and improve and polish our skills. They say always leave the best for the last, photograph enthusiasts would have hope fully found a nice spot by sunset which will mean you will take back memories which can never be replaced and the place will leave an imprint on your hearts for life.

      Dear friends,
We are blessed to have new routes and challenges every week and the satisfaction of sitting and sharing a meal/snacks/drinks together and laughing over a few jokes or discussing the experience of the drive. Continuing that same spirit I am pleased to announce a secret route which not many people know off, this will include some desert driving which can be managed by all levels. The real secret lies in the route which will lead us to a ghost town through which we can approach our climb on the mountain where a path has been laid just for the known few. The promise when we reach on top is that you will find the climate there at least 4 to 5 degree lower than the temperature on ground level, so if it is 30 degrees down than on top it will be around 25 or 26 degree which is just beautiful. This is a flat, kind of table top surface on which we can lay and enjoy our spread for a few chats and laughs, plus for those shutterbugs there is plenty of beautiful scenes to shoot as well, and if we can adhere to the timings we can get shots both at sunset and by night.

The beauty of this track is there are several exits, so anybody who would like to do the sand bit alone can do so and head out within 5 minutes to the closest road.
If interested please sign up for this once in a year opportunity.

The Islamic New Year is supposed to be falling on Thursday, 21 September, so lets take advantage. Plus with the weather getting better it will be only cooler on top.
The RAK mountain range which always are few degrees lesser than the other areas. Get ready to enjoy some of best snaky curved road making up to the to this grand Hajar mountain range. With last time's experience we can reach close to the top to enjoy the view from both sides of the mountain and enjoy the sea view. This drive will offer plenty of photo opportunity for the shutterbugs, so make sure to carry your best camera and long range lens.
Plan is to start late afternoon and finish whenever we feel we have had enough to escape the heat and yet have our holiday dose of fun and adrenaline. With this timing we will also eliminate the usual rush at this newly developing tourist site. So please be on time, as we are really pressed on time so if you are late then you have to catch up by yourself.
If anybody would like to bring along snacks, drinks, BBQ, playing cards, music box or any means of entertainment and fun is most welcome to join.

Weather is turning amazing and when hot weather couldn't stop us from burning up the desert, we are not going to let this cooler breeze go to waste. Area 53 is an extension of Bidayer area but with medium - big dunes with sharp rise and fall, at the same time suitable for Newbies to learn and enjoy the medium dune range. Where I would like to have newbies, just in case we have our regular drivers this area is truly perfect for rushing your adrenaline and hone your desert driving controls. This area requires precise control as one moment you climb up with full throttle and second moment you crawl at low rev before hitting the gas again for sideways climbs.
This drive is meant for newbie - fewbie level, only if we do not have any newbie drivers the level will be revised to a Fewbie + level.

      When: 27 October 2017, Friday
Meeting time: 2 PM, convoy will move sharp at 2:15 PM
      Where: Tawi Nizwa shops
      GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/KAZQNHFTjvj
Level of drive: Either Newbie or Fewbie + depending on convoy level
Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance
Plan: Afternoon drive from Tawi Nizwa to Iftar Bowl and enjoy some snacks together.
What to bring along: Evening snacks,, whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
