2010 Chevrolet Aveo Review

Recommended Posts

The Chevrolet Aveo is a global car produced by GM Daewoo and is based on the Daewoo Kalos platform.

In the Middle East the car is sold as the Aveo sedan and the Aveo5 five-door hatchback. Both models are aimed at the budget car buyer looking for a basic yet comfortable city runabout at an attractive price.

The Aveo competes with the likes of the Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Tiida, Suzuki Swift, and the Hyundai Getz. A much-improved next-generation Aveo is expected to launch internationally by the end of 2010 as the 2011 model. This new car will be based on the futuristic Aveo RS concept and will feature a bold new design along with improved performance and comfort.

Amongst the current Aveo range the hatchback looks sportier than the sedate sedan, primarily because of its twin-port grille and peeled back headlamps. The sedan however offers better rear seat comfort and more luggage-carrying capability.

Both the sedan and hatchback are powered by a 1.4-litre engine with 93bhp, mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. Considering the car’s weight this small capacity engine affords the Aveo only basic performance.

The interiors are well built and feature decent quality plastics and supportive seats. Available in three trim versions – standard, LS and LT – the Aveo comes packed with decent amount of equipment especially on the top model. The LT comes with 14-inch alloy wheels, power mirrors, MP3/CD audio system, power windows & locks, keyless entry, dual front airbags and ABS.
