2010 Chevrolet Suburban Review

Recommended Posts

The Suburban is the long wheelbase version of the full size Tahoe SUV.

It is Chevrolet’s largest and longest running SUV and was first put into production back in 1935.

The current generation Suburban received a major makeover in 2007, along with the Tahoe, and now features a more contemporary and clutter-free exterior and interior with more efficient powertrain options. The Suburban also shares its underpinnings with the long wheelbase Cadillac Escalade ESV.

The big and burly SUV boasts seating for up to nine adults but is also available in six, seven and eight seat options. Like the Tahoe the Suburban is powered by a 5.3-litre V8 engine with 365bhp. However, realising the big SUV’s bulk, Chevrolet also offers a 403bhp 6.0-litre V8 as an option. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with four-wheel drive.

Available in four trim versions – LS, LT1, LT2 and LTZ – the truck based SUV can handle a fair share of off-road driving, especially the LT2 variant which comes with the Z71 off-road package. This package includes off-road suspension, automatic locking rear differential, flared wheel arches, skid plate, high capacity air cleaner and unique dashboard and interior trim.

The LTZ is the fully loaded variant featuring many amenities. It comes packed with equipment including tri-zone climate control, second row audio and climate controls, rear seat DVD entertainment system and a powered liftgate, as well as rear parking assist, remote starter and leather seats.

The front seats are heated and cooled and boast power adjust, while a Bose audio system and 20-inch alloy wheels are also included.

The Suburban’s primary asset is its cavernous interior, which can accommodate large families and lots of luggage. The Suburban is also known to have great towing capacity.

The Chevy Suburbans are by far the best SUV's out there on the road. I've only had two Suburbans and they were 1992 and 2003. They are such reliable trucks, it's amazing. Great for towing, 4x4, lugging large cargo around and family.
