2010 Chevrolet Caprice Review

Recommended Posts

Sourced from General Motors’s Australian marque Holden, the Caprice is a full-size sedan that has been selling well in the Middle East.

In 2009 Chevrolet introduced an updated Caprice with sharper styling, updated interior, new equipment and a new six-speed automatic transmission.

The same 2009 model still packs a punch and continues for the 2010 year.

Despite being a large car the Caprice is able to hide its bulk to some extent thanks to neatly executed crease lines, fender slits, flared wheel arches and a sporty fascia. The overall look is upmarket yet understated.

The current Caprice line-up includes the LS, LTZ, SS and Royale, all sporting a meaty 360bhp, 6.0-litre V8 engine. A 3.6-litre V6 engine is also available as an option for the LS and LTZ. This engine produces a more modest 240bhp and comes only with a four-speed automatic transmission as against the six-speed automatic that is standard on the V8 models.

The Caprice boasts of a spacious and well-equipped cabin. Legroom is generous both in the front and rear. The rear seatback angle is well suited for long journeys and the width of the car generates a lot of shoulder room as well. The big sedan also has a big boot capable of swallowing 530 litres of cargo.

Equipment levels are good and even the base LS comes with projector headlamps, multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, automatic headlights, Blaupunkt CD/MP3 sound system and power front seats. The SS and Royale are fully loaded versions with many more gadgets. Standard safety kit includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and brake assist while side airbags and traction control feature on the SS and Royale variants.
