Had to work on a relatively new Great Wall pickup once at our garage once and at the same time had a 15 year old Hilux in.

That was a real eye opener. The Hilux despite being much older and having a tougher life was in much better shape than the much newer Great Wall.

These old Yota pickups are indestructible. Having personal experience with them. I can say with great authority you can try your best but you can't destroy the older Land Cruiser pickups. We use to drive them like donkeys. Carried 3ton generators deep in to the desert on them. Threw lit cigarettes on the floor. Smashed it into a wall of sand so hard, I thought I must have crumped the front end only to see a fog light on the bumper slightly facing the wrong way.

Sadly that quality hasnt crossed over into the latest model plastic pigs yota has started to make.

Well I've had my brown pants moments in the Cruiser pick up, like the aforementioned 3 ton generator. It was so big, the rear gate would close, so had to strap it in and on 30 PSI the tyres looked like they were deflated to 15 PSI, so had to pump them up to 45. They were rated upto 50 ( I checked ) and then off road had to drop back to 30-35 and the find the smoothest path to the camp 5-7 kms inside the desert including a final climb, not a hige climb but aweer sized dune.

It had no issue pulling the gene and making the climb, it was just the tall and long load that made it drive real wobbly and we were are praying for it not to get stuck!

As the weather begin to change for good, this might be the last night drive to enjoy this year, as now in night weather has become very pleasant with cool breeze. Time to enjoy chilled out desert drive in our much loved Mahafiz sandbox till the morning. If time permit and convoy response are favorable, we might continue play in morning at monster dunes after fossil rock area, if not we will end and exit.
This area offers a great mix of playable dunes and medium dunes to test your night driving skills. Depending on convoy strength and liking will plan the route to fit everyone's taste and capabilities.
Offroad lights are recommended for a night drive, but if you don't have you can still safely drive with your HIGH BEAM.
      When: 08 Aug 2019, Thursday
Meeting time: 11 PM, the convoy will move at sharp 11:15 PM - "NO EXCEPTIONS"
Where: ADNOC at Sharjah - Kalba Road
      GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/CjXEpdPqn3NZ7Y8j7
Level: Newbie, Fewbie & Above (NO ABSOLUTE NEWBIE PLEASE)
Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance.
Plan: Drive, train and enjoy till about 4 am and then break for snacks.
What to bring along: Snacks whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
      Approximate finish time: 5:00 AM

      Hi Guys,

I am planning to to go Hatta Lake for Kayaking Friday 09.03.18  morning. The venue opens at 8am and its 60Dhs per head for unlimited time.
I am attaching the route going to the lake. However i plan to take the Route B which crosses a wadi and just drive through it.
I have taken the route before through that wadi but half way only. This time i am planning to cross it and connect on the main road going to Hatta lake.
If any one is interested can join. Meeting point is the only ENOC station on the E611 at 6am.

Having a refusal or getting completely stuck is something nobody should feel guilty about, since it's part of the off-roading game. It’s also an essential experience in your learning. Somehow, as long as you can understand what happened so you won’t repeat the same mistake over and over, it’s a must to improve.
There are hundreds of reasons why you can get stuck. Some of them don’t directly depend on the driver (it can be related to an engine issue, the terrain, the climate, etc.), while others are just mistakes. Some of them are clear and obvious, others are more unpredictable and difficult to identify…
As a big fan of @Rahimdad’s What Went Wrong ? thread, it came to my mind that we could simply adapt his brilliant idea by analyzing, not accidents, but stucks, and try to make together a list of all the possible reasons behind them.
Please do share here your guesses, explanations... and videos.
I’ll start easy, with one of my best stucks this year, which happened in Area 53 two weeks ago (I borrowed the footage from @Javier M).
So... who can tell us why I got stuck here ?
