Trip Report - Breaking from the usual tradition of having night drives in summer we decided that to do a Sweihan drive, one must do it in daylight. But with the limited window of good weather in day light it was decided to have an early morning drive starting with the break of sunlight. So we all met on time at 4:45 am and quickly headed to the deflation point. After an even quicker briefing we headed out with @G.huz as my second lead and @Gaurav in sweep for Section 1 of the drive.

If Gaurav had any thoughts of a relatively easier drive in sweep duties, they were quickly smashed by @shadow79 with the first crest right along center of the dune ridge. A few tugs and shoveling helped recover him and he managed to better that with an even more stubborn crest in the exact same position. The winch had to finally come out to recover him from the nasty spot. By then the sun had already started showing glimpses of its full glory, and so we picked up the pace and had to skip some sections of the waypoints that were initially marked. The beauty of Sweihan (especially in summer months) is the absolute virgin dunes one can ever get to see. We reached the end of Section 1 of the drive with the time close to 8:00 am.

With the weather getting warmer we headed for the best part of the drive, a huge sand mountain with plenty of room to play and circle around. The view from the top was absolutely breathtaking. After climbing from every possible angle we finally descended and started our exit route in the final hour of the drive. The dunes in this area were fabulous rolling dunes and like Gaurav mentioned, we definitely need to plan a full day drive in this area in the cooler months. As we were playing along the dunes towards the exit we had a couple of overheating issues, but thankfully nothing too bad. We finally settled for our breakfast in the shaded area of what seemed to be an abandoned majlis.

A special thanks to @Emmanuel for discovering this area, and also thanks to @Javier M, @shadow79, @G.huz and @Gauravfor all the support to ensure that we started and end the drive on time, especially in this weather.

Excellent search and suggestion of this new area by @Emmanuel

Thanks @Srikumar for Impeccable planning of 2 diff routes, waypoints, fence, exit strategy resulting in perfect drive even after few nasty recoveries we were able to play in those amazing dunes. Keep it up.

Just the last bit was killing to inflate at 49 degrees under the sun and 44 under the shade (watch).

Means Rav is shy to cross tall dune Crest, no matter whichever angle or speed you attempt...!

Sweihan dunes also regarded as "Little Liwa" by some and offers plenty of opportunities to test our desert driving skills by climbing sideways, ridge riding, ridge cutting and to climb huge dunes to its peak and capture some stunning pictures. As the weather is still hot, its best to start off at the onset of sunrise and have a good 3 hours of fast paced drive through some of the most amazing dunes that UAE has to offer.

As the weather begin to change for good, this might be the last night drive to enjoy this year, as now in night weather has become very pleasant with cool breeze. Time to enjoy chilled out desert drive in our much loved Mahafiz sandbox till the morning. If time permit and convoy response are favorable, we might continue play in morning at monster dunes after fossil rock area, if not we will end and exit.
This area offers a great mix of playable dunes and medium dunes to test your night driving skills. Depending on convoy strength and liking will plan the route to fit everyone's taste and capabilities.
Offroad lights are recommended for a night drive, but if you don't have you can still safely drive with your HIGH BEAM.

After the last week Fewbie+ to Intermediate level, it's time to have a chilled out and relaxing desert drive in this hot and humid summer. This time we are changing the area to a different route to start from end of Awir and reach the Mahafiz area through desert. You got it right, that we will start from Dubai and end in Sharjah from a desert route enjoying all the dunes on our way.
This area is filled with very broad dunes that are easy to climb and exit, perfect for any newbie to get the hang of desert driving with a pinch of dune bashing. If the convoy response is good we will play in the nearby area at a fewbie level to push the spirit and fun few notches, nothing extreme.
Offroad lights are recommended for a night drive, but if you don't have you can still safely drive with your HIGH BEAM.

Superman is back from his vacation and invites all intermediate level drivers to sign up for this drive. It is going to be fast paced, fun and full of thrills as I have been missing in action for the past 3 weeks.
Area 53 is the most versatile area in the UAE offroading scene, that offers beautiful tall rolling dunes with plenty of opportunities for side slopping, ridge cutting, and long hill climbs.
Any Fewbie who have already had 15 or more drives is also welcome to join. We may promote few fewbie drivers to Intermediate level after this drive, if there driving skills are at par to match the pace.
Promotions based on driving skill set is just the "one aspect" of the grading structure, they also need to follow other points:

Level of drive: Fewbie+ and above
      When: 4 July 2019
Meeting time: 10:00 PM, the convoy will move sharp at 10:15 PM
Where: Badayer Shops at Nazwa, before Madam R/A
      GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/GMrTGmx4J5L2
Plan: Night drive through the Pyramids - Area 53 - Iftar bowl - Super Bowl (maybe)
What to bring along: Evening snacks - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles, stories, and enthusiasm.
      Approximate finish time: 3 AM
Please RSVP the below calendar event
