@Foxtrot Oscar thank you for the amazing drive, really had fun, and so did my passenger.

unfortunately I had to miss the fun as my car air intake connection to the throttle body got broken and had to be in the garage.

If you had sand in the intake manifold I’m afraid the engine will be failing soon. @Ale Vallecchi also had its fair share after a similar problem occurred.

it was not too much. All cleaned thoroughly and set to climb another dune.

Thank you Angela @Foxtrot Oscar for letting us out of the drive on time and apologies to all for delaying the convoy. My co-passenger took time till evening to settle as she gets motion sick on such tracks.  All fine and see you soon again in the next drives.

Nothing is unfortunate my dear . We missed two third of the fun as my elder son got motion sickness , ( he is fine soon we got to tarmac ) but as always safe better than sorry and all is for good 🌷

How to avoid failing the engine @Frederic ?  I mean is it a big work to clean up ?

Once you have send entering the manifold it will have gotten to the internal components such as valves and cylinders. Sand is extremely hard and will damage bearings very soon. My suggestion would be to change the engine oil immediately and get the engine flushed (most oil change shops have this kind of machine). This would remove hopefully most of the sand.

Drive Report

What to say about Faqa that hasn’t already be said? Everyone was in great spirits as we gathered to ready ourselves for what we all hoped would be a great afternoon of driving. We picked our way through the small patch of technical dunes to reach the long range slopes. As we did so @Shehab Alawadhi found himself atop a crest and @Junaid120120had an ungual stuck. It didn’t take long to get them both off again and the convoy motoring through Faqa’s glorious dunes.

In a convoy that was intermediate driver heavy I looked to see how well @Shehab Alawadhi, @Arman and @Junaid120120 could handle ridge riding and criss crossing . It was clear that after a couple of trial runs the three of them were more than up to it.

Satisfied that our Fewbies were technically capable I increased the challenge and we headed further into the dunes. Just at that, we had two sick passengers, and alas @Mohamed Seidam and @siddharth maheshwari had to exit. I hope your passengers feel better now.

We reached the other side of Faqa, an area not often explored, and  here the fun level really increased,. We tackled ridge after ridge, found an amazing sweeping bowl and side sloped and crissed – crossed 'til our offroad hearts were content.

I can’t thank everyone enough for their excellent driving that made for  a very fun afternoon. @Ashok chaturvedi clearly loves his FJ but I don't think his good lady s as big a fan ;)  @Ilya Golubinskywas a fantastic second lead.  It was great to drive with @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ and great to see you progress .  @Islam Soliman once more helped keep everything going at the back as sweep. Thanks @Islam Soliman for all your help today.

Special praise for @Shehab Alawadhi, @Arman and @Junaid120120 who all had great drives, followed the tracks and kept with the pace.

Well done everyone and thanks again for a great afternoon in the sand,

Until our next adventure. :)

Thank you Angela @Foxtrot Oscar and @Ilya Golubinsky for escorting us toward the exit . My son is ok once we were in tarmac as he had a nap on the way back home. Also happy to hear that the passenger of @siddharth maheshwari is also fine .

Nevertheless I got my  fair share in the first  30 min from “dig and tug “ 😎 and all the enjoyment before the trigger of motion sickness  start

see you all soon and enjoy the week

cheers 🌷

Thanks for the good advice @Frederic. I checked with the mechanic and he said this sand intake is not a major problem as very little sand entered the inlet manifold. However he agreed to flush the oil and do an oil change as I'm  in doubt. Anyways the oil change was due in another week as only 2000 kms were left for the oil to be changed.
