This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to go through below information and and strictly follow these guidelines.

Drive Details

Level:  Newbie and above (all levels)

Meeting time: 7:00 AM (SHARP - Without any exceptions)

Action Plan: There is a stretch of desert, running parallel to E66, from Murqab to Faqa, which offers a challenging terrain, with all kinds of dune formations and occasional sabkhas. We'll make our own way along this route, our own Desert 66, where members' technical skills will be tested, alongside with the need for patience, concentration, and resilience. More of a Fewbie itinerary, it will provide the right challenge to Newbies aspiring for a promotion.

Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance.

What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Approximate finish time: 10:30 AM

P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.

LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE:

• Limited to 12 cars maximum. RSVP will close on Wednesday - 5 PM.
  • If the RSVP is full and you wish to join, please mention your name on the drive thread to add on the waiting list
• Latecomers will be returned back - without ANY EXCEPTIONS.
• Members without RSVP will be returned back - without ANY EXCEPTIONS.
• Members that do not confirm the terms of the COVID requirements will be removed from the RSVP list.
• Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others.
• Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month.

I have not done the Absolute Newbie drive, however, I do have some beginner level experience in offroading. I have done about a dozen drives with friends. (I drive a stock Y61) 

In all cases I am flexible doing the newbie or the Absolute newbie drive.

Hi @Mostafa Elbadawi. It's Carnity's rule that any driver, even with previous experience, takes the AN drive, as an introduction to the Club's style and rules of driving. Please look for the next Absolute Newbie drive in the calendar, before joining the regular drives. Thanks for understanding.

Dear Desertnauts.

Get ready for a challenging drive, where concentration, decisiveness and patience will be required.

The terrain is a mix of red and yellow sand, with a mix of technical (tighter, closer, more irregularly shaped) dunes, and some long range dunes (more open between cordons, and taller), especially toward the end of the drive. Vegetation will be present throughout the drive, demanding a choice of track that minimizes its presence. While driving it will be important to always use the proper momentum (that is the moving force given by the product of the car's weight x its acceleration) to be able to keep the lines that we'll be taking around the dunes, or crossing the ridges. We will stop early in the drive for a more detailed technical briefing.

Our goal is to reach Faqa's northern boundary, driving through the desert parallel to E66, better known as the Dubai-Al Ain Road. We'll carve our own highway through the dunes!!

Please reach the meeting point, just opposite Murqaab's mosque, early enough so that we may start as close to 7AM as possible. Please line up on the shoulder on either sides of the road, and mind that locals' cars will be driving through.  As soon as you reach the meeting point you may start deflating, somewhere between 12 and 15, based on the weight of your car (may be a bit more inflated on heavier cars), and the type of tires you are mounting (a bit more inflated on tires with low walls).

We'll be communicating on Carnity Channel 1 (446.006). The convoy order will be given tomorrow morning by myself and @Niki
