2010 BMW 3-Series Review

Recommended Posts

The 3 Series is one of BMW’s best selling cars worldwide and is currently in its fifth generation.

Having been in the market since 1975, the 3 Series has earned a reputation for being a performance-oriented car and is popular with relatively younger buyers.

The 3 Series offers a good blend between performance, comfort, prestige and reliability. It competes head-to-head with German rivals; Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The current model, launched in 2006, has been ageing well thanks to repeated face-lifts but is due for a replacement by the next generation 3 Series, which will debut as the 2012 model. Spanning a range of body styles including sedan, coupe and convertible, the 3 Series is a versatile car catering to diverse needs of buyers from the region.

Budget oriented buyers can opt for the base 320i sedan which starts at 150,000AED while performance oriented customers can get their hands on the M3 which costs upwards of 335,000AED but delivers sports car-like performance.

The 3 Series coupe and convertible have been spruced up for the 2010 model year. The 335i Coupe and Convertible are now powered by BMW’s latest turbocharged straight six-cylinder engine. The exterior has also been refreshed and includes a bigger grille, revised bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, redesigned taillights, rear-view mirrors, sill covers and new paint options. New pull-type shift paddles (right one to shift up and left one to shift down) for the automatic transmission replace the confusing pull/push ones of the earlier model.

The M3 is now available both in Coupe and Convertible body styles with the option of manual or automatic transmission in the latter. The tuned Alpina B3 Coupe is also available at 365,000AED but only from select BMW dealerships.
