how do i repair the speed sensor that is not working?

The speed sensor has malfunctioned in my 2000 Mazda 626 a week back when coming from a long trip. it wasent a big job but i really had to drag my self to replace the sensor and even cleared code but the thing is that it is still not shifting correct what else could be the issue.

Remove the battery terminal for 5 minutes and join again. Older car most of these stupid glitches get solved with this trick. At least in Mazda's.
