when to change the air filter?

hey guys. Please discuss on when to get the air filters of the car changed?

When the air filter seems very dark and does not emits light, it means its very dirty and needs to be replaced.

Is it possible to fix the air filter and not replacing it?

You can try knocking the dirt from the surface by tapping the filter to any hard wall. But that will remove the surface dirt and not the dirt which is inside the fibres. And dont attempt to wash it as it may damage the air filter completely.

I usually change it once a year. This is the time when I change all the filters in my car. However, I don't use my car on a daily basis so in case you are driving a lot you should probably do this more frequently.
