2010 Nissan X-Trail review

Recommended Posts

Although the X-Trail on sale in the region at the time of writing is touted as the 2010 model, it’s actually the first generation of SUV that was introduced in 2001 and was replaced by a new version in other market back in 2008.

As such it’s beginning to show its age, but is nevertheless a capable machine that sits just below the Pathfinder on the Nissan ladder.

Although it boasts four-wheel drive and some off-road credentials, it’s more likely to be seen on the road. A few exterior features such as faux scuff plates hint at its rugged ambitions, and the interior surfaces have been designed to be dirt and water resistant, although that prove more useful against children than the natural elements.

Two versions are available in the region: XE and SE. Both are powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine producing 132bhp and 245Nm of torque. The XE model uses a four-speed automatic gearbox while the top-level SE gets a five-speed version. Nissan’s All Mode 4×4 system lets drivers use two-wheel drive during normal road conditions, or select auto mode to push power to all four corners when needed. A four-wheel lock mode can be engaged if owners do decide to take the X-Trail off the tarmac.

Available features include a large sunroof, a cooled storage box in the centre console and a cargo net to stop contents sliding around the sizable boot.

Standard safety features include ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, which helps provide stable and maximum braking in the event of an emergency.
