NissanDxb
The latest Maxima is new for the 2010 model year and was introduced to the Middle East during 2009. It’s a four-door sedan that can trace its heritage back to the 1970s, with the current incarnation marking the seventh generation of the badge. Nissan touts the car as a practical family machine with a sporty edge and plenty of technology and features. The Maxima seats five and has a 402-litre boot, while features include dual-zone air conditioning, ambient lighting and a rear-view monitor for incident-free parking. Power comes from a 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 290bhp and driving the front wheels. The Maxima uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) rather than a traditional automatic gearbox, although it does have a ‘manual mode’ using steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters if you want to feel like you’re shifting cogs. Two grades are available (in the UAE) – SV and SR – with prices starting at 113,500AED. Standard features include cruise control and a sunroof, front fog lights and parking sensors, while the top-level SR gets a spoiler, rear bucket seats and a powered rear sunshade. The seats can be upholstered in leather, and other features include the Intelligent Key, which lets owners unlock and start the Maxima without removing the key fob from their pocket or bag. Bluetooth phone connectivity, satellite navigation and a Bose audio system are also available. All models ride on 19-inch alloy wheels, while standard safety equipment includes ABS and electronic stability control, as well as traction control and electronic brakeforce distribution. Front, side and curtain airbags are also included, along with active head restraints to reduce the risk of whiplash injuries in a crash.
