Is changing ball joint critical?

the mechanic who had a look at the car for brake pads changing sand i need to change the ball joints too which according to him is critical but i want to know what its function is and doing an additional spending is really that necessary?

ball joint is what connects the wheels to the steering and its a part of the suspensions.

the joint with time become loose which then has excessive play in the joint and can affect your cars wheel alignment with uneven wearing of the tires.

If you hear any "clunking" sound when hitting a bump or offroad then its a loose ball joint causing the noise.

If u are facing any of the above mentioned problem then its a good idea to change the ball joint.
