2010 Peugeot 407 review

Recommended Posts

Peugeot’s large family car is available in both four-door sedan and two-door coupe versions, each of which have a different flavour to them.

The 407 sedan is very much a workaday machine with a focus on comfort and interior space, while the coupe has more of a sporty edge to it.

The car’s looks with divide opinion – it sports a long bonnet and a big gaping grilled – but the interior has a feel of quality and luxury about it, even at the lower end of the range. There are plenty of soft touch materials used and a decent amount of kit included as standard.

For the sedan, the entry-level Confort Pack model comes with a 2.0-litre engine developing 134bhp, attached to a four-speed automatic gearbox. Features include 16-inch alloys, automatic headlights and cruise control as well as a cooled glove box for drinks.

The Premium level comes with a choice of engines: the 2.0-litre; a 2.2-litre unit with 160bhp; or a 3.0-litre V6 with 211bhp. Various packages are available that feature 16 or 17-inch alloys, Bluetooth phone connectivity and front and rear parking sensors. GPS satellite navigation is also available.

The Coupe has a more stylish exterior and rides on 18-inch wheels, with full leather seats inside. Plenty of kit is included, such as xenon headlights that swivel with the steering wheel to improve visibility around corners. Also fitted is dual zone air conditioning, a six CD changer and a sliding sunroof.

Safety features in the 407 range include ABS, electronic brake distribution with brake assist and electronic stability control.
