2010 Cadillac DTS review

Recommended Posts

The DTS was introduced in 2006 and is Cadillac’s full-size flagship sedan.

It is in fact the largest sedan in General Motor’s stable and stakes its claim to fame for its role as the US President’s official limousine.

As a part of Cadillac’s product reshuffle the next generation DTS will be merged with the STS to develop a new flagship sedan for the brand. This could happen as early as 2011. The model on sale in 2010 is unchanged from the 2009 model.

The DTS is available in three variants: Standard, Platinum and Limousine. Despite its name, the Limousine has the exact same dimensions and interior space as the other versions. The standard DTS is powered by a voluminous 4.4-litre V8 engine but it only produces 275bhp.

The other two variants get a revised version of the same engine with 292bhp on tap. That’s not a great deal of power especially considering the DTS’ near-two-tonne weight. The DTS comes with a four-wheel automatic transmission that drives the front wheels, a unique feature for a car in this segment and of this size.

The DTS was built for comfort and that’s something it delivers in heaps. The expansive interiors are both comfortable and well equipped. The ride is known to be soft and absorbent, best enjoyed while seated on the sofa like back seat.

Standard equipment on the DTS includes xenon headlamps, remote start, leather steering and upholstery both of which has heating, 8-speaker Bose sound system, tri-zone climate control and power front seats. Safety kit includes six standard airbags, ABS, traction control, adaptive cruise control and rear parking sensors.
