222HOT
Anyone ever try the current 2.7L 3door Prado in the desert? I am try to find out if the 2.7l is enough for that car to be good in the desert?
Amalik
Honest answer: NO, but at the same time it isn't bad and sluggish as many other bigger 4x4. Being short and light you can still do decent sand off road, however best is 4.0 L for off road (unbeatable).
222HOT
Thanks, I have the 5dr 4.0l but thinking to change my other car to the 3dr Prado which they only have 2.7l. I will go test drive one today.
s00cl0se
I am also looking to get a 3door 2.7l Prado. people say that in Fortuner 2.7l is weak. If someone has a 2.7l 3 door for offroading is it strong enough or no

sertac
Last year there was one fortuner 2.7 with us. It was doing well. It wasn't have enough power to climb faya but normal off road driving it is good enough. 2

Rahimdad
As @sertac posted the 2.7 is capable, but lacks power in certain areas, newbie drives should be fine, Fewbie it will struggle but survive, but no way in an intermediate or extreme level.
Gaurav
In simple words, if you already own 2.7 you can learn offroading and then move to a better and more capable vehicle. If you are planning to buy and offroading is one of the agenda - 4.0 is MUST. @sertac over 80% "stock" 4x4 vehicle - Including Land Cruiser, Pajero, Patrol, Defender, Discovery, Pathfinder CANNOT climb faya from the front side. Faya, due to its steepness and height is most difficult dune after Iftar bowl and Bid Red in Sharjah. I would really doubt if 2.7 fortuner or Prado can climb from backside cheat route even. 3 1 Let's root for each other & watch each other grow.
