  4. Dear @Mahesh_ @Frans M @Deepak Eswar @Mahmut @Marek @Mahmoud Taha @Stumpy @Ishak @Zulfikhar Naiyar @Aser @msa Due to recent heavy rain in the UAE and waterlogged conditions the desert terrain is currently tricky with muddy conditions, broken ridges, and hidden pockets, which isn't ideal for a safe adventure. Hence, we are canceling this weekend's drives, look forward to seeing you all soon on the next one.

  6. Hi All, @zak @Ahmed Farouk@Batuhan Kulac@DanielN@Jad Moussalli@Zed@Gary F@Anoop Nair Due to recent heavy rain in the UAE and waterlogged conditions the desert terrain is currently tricky with muddy conditions, broken ridges, and hidden pockets, which isn't ideal for a safe adventure. On top of that, many main roads are still blocked, and reaching the meeting point could be a dangerous and unnecessary endeavor. Hence, I am canceling this weekend's drive, look forward to seeing you all soon on the next one.

  8. Thank you all for joining the drive. I hope you all are doing well. Due to the unprecedented rainfall during the week which was highest in 75 years and was worth 2 years of rainfall; we have decided to cancel all drives for this week. We will post new drive on Monday and you may join them again. I did a drive at 2nd December few days ago after a very heavy rain fall and had a lot of fun, but this is different. Compared to this event the previous rainfall was like watering a garden. Out of abundance of caution we are going to cancel this week’s drive and try our luck next week. Stay safe.
  9. Thanks for letting me know @Ben Lee - Hope not major issues ! See you soon in future drives !!
  10. Hi DP, hope you and all our fellow drivers got through yesterday ok. Unfortunately, my Jeep took some damage so I’m going to have to withdraw until I can get it looked at.
  11. I had this happen twice back when I lived in Turkey. the water was past the door mirrors and I lost all hope when the car just sat underwater for nearly 3 days. Spoiler... it was fine at the end! most importantly don't attempt starting it. As long as it wasn't shaken around even though some water probably got in the intake, the manifold often acts like a toilet loop, preventing water from entering the cylinders. If you end up towing it make sure they reverse it on, with the front end pointing downwards always. Must keep water out of the block. water in the exhaust is fine. I'll be praying for you. Inshallah, it will be alright.
  12. Congrats @Aser Well done and enjoy more learning ahead
  13. Welldone and well deserved promotion @Mahmut enjoy the pace
  14. Congrats @RiadJL ! Well done and enjoy more learning ahead
  15. hi @Andrei S really sorry to hear that man, couple of things to prepare for upcoming hassle: 1. As Fred said, do not let anyone put the key and start the engine. Car engine is an air pump, not a water pump, so the pistons & rods can only handle pushing air out, not water. 2. This means you have to tell recovery guys to use the winch and pull your car from behind. Dont forget to put Transfer Case in Neutral, read the user manual. This allows towing the car with freewheels and no stress on drivelines. 3. If garage cannot dry water out from engine, they will ask you to buy engine from scrap and swap or offer rebuild. Ask them which one is cheaper, but be prepared. 4. Once quotation is obtained, pls contact insurance if they can cover this. Some insurance shrugs it off saying they don't cover "acts of God", but try pushing... Good luck!
  16. https://www.khaleejtimes.com/uae/uae-why-motorists-rain-related-insurance-claims-could-be-rejected “If the car was parked in the parking lot and it got flooded after the heavy rains, and the vehicle owner towed it away to the garage for maintenance, then the maintenance will be covered by the insurance. But if the owner parked it in the waterlogged or partially submerged area and tried to turn on the engine, but the engine was damaged, then the insurance firm could reject the claim,” Definately tow it and dont try to start it yourself....
  17. That sounds horrendous. I am so sorry to hear that. My only recommendation would be not to try to attempt to start it, but gather all evidence and get it picked up by recovery in a couple of days. Once it's in the workshop they can make a proper assesment. The risk if you start it yourself is that the engine might suck in water and get destroyed.
  18. Hi All, I hope we will not see more messages like this. Is everyone safe? I think I will not be able to join the drive. The parking which looked ok after waves 1 and 2 got badly flooded after 3. I cannot see the car nor access it. Judging by the level and the gates the water is likely to be above the bonnet. Any thoughts on revival steps? Thanks, A
