  1. A trip report as viewed from my Pajero Like the topic mentioned, it was truly a Relaxing Drive. It seemed that there was no dearth of time with no deadline to be met and the hence drive could proceed at its own pace. That saying, it was a very smooth drives with almost zero recoveries and hence we covered a lot of ground. Thank you to everyone for helping fix my stepney at the starting point and sorry for the delay that this caused. This time @shadow79 took up a different role of being a passenger with me instead of a driver. Thank you to Rahim bhai to give us all a chance to lead under his watchful guidance. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed it and also could overcome a certain fear that I had of being in the lead or second lead. @Asif Hussain lead us through some lovely dunes before Rahim bhai took over to get us to Fossil Rock and then Camel Rock reroute to Faya. During this part of the drive, we can across a reasonably steep dune and my Pajero again started up shifting at the most inappropriate time causing me to give at a try more than a couple of times. This got Saleem bhai who was a passenger in my car to start thinking on what modifications can be done to my Transmission to overcome this problem. Once we reached Faya, the magic of Saleem and his friend came to work as they started the grill for the chicken and gave everyone a wonderful meal. We spent close to 4 hours just enjoying the talks, stories with some of us taking a quick nap. Post the sunrise Malav lead us through some nice dunes. In a couple of those moments when my car seemed to struggle to get to the top of the bowls I was able to defy Rahim bhai's guidance and manage to find that little extra in the Pajero to get it to the top without having to go back down again. It has made me all the more determined to sort out this upshifting problem in the tiptronic so that I can have a vehicle that has the necessary power as well as the transmission to support me during the steep climbs when needed. Thank you to everyone for such a smooth and fun drive that was thoroughly enjoyed

  2. Due to some unforeseen situation we like to switch the drive to Maliha area instead of Sweihan. Rest everything as usual. Apologies for last minute change and will definitely do the sweihan route next week IA. Meeting time: 11:30 PM, convoy will move sharp at 11:45 PM Where: Adnoc Petrol Station Maleha Road GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/mzb26kxzte72 As promised after my two weeks break, will offer something really exciting for all experienced off-road drivers at Carnity. So what better than Sweihan adventurous night drive in the month of July when we have some well experienced night hawks in the convoy now. Thanks to Rahim bhai teaching in last few drives to break their fear of leading, I think this Sweihan night drive will hone their skills even more with tall rolling step dunes. They are difficult to enter due to their height, and one can only access them through "steps" strategy. Once on top they are fun to drive as all big dunes are inter-connected and offer broad ridge to ride and kick your last drop of adrenaline. P.S. This is real Sweihan area drive and not Nahil area what we did in March. This will be quiet a few notch above Nahil dunes. For newbies, I will post something equally exciting in next week for 13 July 2017. When: 6 July 2017 Meeting time: 11:00 PM Starting time: 11:15 PM (SHARP) Where: First ADNOC service station on E20 (Al Haiyir to Nahil) after turning right from Dubai - Al Ain (after faqa). GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/CgheV2mSLp12 Level of drive: Fewbies - Intermediate Type of drive: Adrenaline kicking fun drive with plenty of breaks and food time on top of some awesome dunes Plan: Learn advance night sand off-road driving What to bring along: Food, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and willingness to learn Approximate finish time: 6 AM - 7 July 2017 Safety advice: All vehicles should have proper tow hook in front and back Drive is only open for proper 4x4 vehicles, not for SUV's, AWD, and Sedan's Vehicle should have minimum 10-12 inches of ground clearance Every vehicle should have proper shovel, deflator and tire pressure gauge Two way radio, air compressor, tow rope, Jack and shackle are advisable to carry if you have

  3. Thank you Sree for such a wonderful trip report and sharing your experience. After a long time I was the first vehicle to roll in to the pump, which means I had to wait for everyone to arrive. The last minute confirmation from @malav1210 meant we had one more experienced driver. There were many firsts for this drive. The first time we fitted a tire on to a rim all thanks to Sree for giving us the opportunity and Saleem who managed with loads of help from all to manage the task with limited tools. As we headed to the deflation point another first was having @shadow79 as passenger and giving the Rav4 a much deserved break like the Camry the previous week at the mosque in Mahafiz. After the briefing I lead the first 10 minutes in to the dunes before giving @skumar83 the lead. After the first couple of minutes he got so comfortable I had to literally talk him out of the lead. This is where for the first time ever @ @Asif Hussain took the lead and took us very close to the base of Fossil Rocks. They must have both lead for about 20 minutes each and did very well with zero stucks and loads of fun. This whole time @baselsm83 did the thankless job of sweeping us and making sure the convoy was moving at all times. Another first was with the time on hand doing the dunes to Camel Rocks and on to the top of Faya from the back side. We than headed down Faya and found a suitable spot for BBQ, with the sun peaking and cool breeze to keep us all comfortable. For the first time we had steamed chicken and potatoes for breakfast, thanks to Saleem for the nice and healthy option. The. Final first came when Malav lead us out with a bit of a twist. With the mercury rising it was time to inflate, hug and say See you next time. All in all a very nice trip with just one pop-out and I stuck. Loved the company, the food, the chat, the drive, every aspect and can't wait for the next one.
