  4. Hi Sajith, welcome to Carnity Off-road Club. 1. Regarding the radio it is a Motorola MT777 which you can get in the B Section of Dragon Mart for approx AED 160. 2. Post a desert drive, Incase you have disabled ABS and Airbag by pulling the fuse then just check if all the ABS and Traction Control is enabled. You don't need to clean the brakes. It's however good to give your car a nice steam wash once in few months, i.e., after a few drives. 3. For the flag pole there is a dune buggy shop near the exit of the EB Section of Dragon Mart. You would get there the flag and the pole. The suction cup is available in just the opposite hardware shop. Don't recollect the shop number though. 4. We would definitely be having more newbie drives in the upcoming weeks. The fewbies drive might be a faster pace in a slight more challenging terrain. So it would be good that you first understand how to control the throttle and how to manouever your vehicle. We are all sand crazy people, and we have drives on every weekend throughout the year, be it winter, summer or even Ramadan. Though during those periods we have night drives which has its own flavour and challenge.

  5. @Sajith Kumar. Thank you for your participation and looking forward to many more drives with you. We will have our newbie drives as there are quite a few new comers who need to brush up before going to Fewbie level. You can still join as a passenger in drives above your level, this also gives you a chance to look and learn. As for the radio, I have the below thread which is very comprehensive, hope this will help.

  6. Hi Hossein, Yes above option should definitely work. Any local car workshop can easily do this in about 40 minutes. You can maybe show them the diagram, or do it yourself if you're a bit handy with wiring and soldering.

  7. Dear Sajith, 1) Be careful when you source a two way radio at Dragonmart, i have seen lots of fake models that look very similar but logo is slightly different or some functions are not working. In any case it needs to be a UHF model with MANUAL frequency setting option. I went for the Crony 888 in a shop called Fujian which is located in the middle aisle. Both Motorola and Crony are working fine. You'll find that the Baofeng UV-5R are also popular nowadays, there is lots of information available on Youtube about them, but i think the Motorola i still the most reliable one in terms of range and battery life (correct me if i am wrong). 2) Post-offroad: I think this is a very good question you brought up. Yes, i think considering that the sand gets everywhere it would make sense to properly rinse off the bottom of the car after every drive. Some of the sand we come across really sticks as soon as it gets a bit wet and dries up. 3) In the EB section you'll need to browse around a bit. If i am not mistaken you'll see a shop that sells all these LED Offroad lights on the left side. Go across the other side through the narrow passageway. There is a shop that sells bicycles and kids quads. They have the flags. Welcome to Carnity !

  8. Thanks @Gaurav . Ok, I can probably deal with road noise as long as safety is not compromised (and shelling out > Dhs 2K!). I was concerned about those small crack-like lines on the shoulder and in between the treads. I'll probably ask the workshop/garage to check them for bulges and rotate them as well. Btw, I am about 75% certain its road noise from the tyres I hear, hoping its not the wheel bearings that's causing the humming sounds. I was just surprised that cabin noise (road, engine, and wind) are far more prominent in a Pajero than a Fortuner, which itself does not have that good soundproofing either. Good thing the Pajero has an awesome sound system to drown them out!

  9. Gentlemen, Good day. Hope all is well. It was my first experience offroading in the desert and I super-loved it. I would like to thank all of you for being such amazing instructors and for the warm, friendly company. And I completely agree with what the marshalls said, as a Newbie I should spend more time getting the smaller details right before aiming too big. ;). It was an absolute thrill riding with you all. I will return for more I had a couple of questions id like to ask, please help me with the same. 1. The motorola walkie talkie- could you let me know the model name/number for the correct piece, please. 2. Whats the most important thing I should do post a desert outing- other than the re-infaltion that is.. Should I get my brake pads cleaned post every ride? 3. Any reference (shop no/ name, etc) for the outlets in Dragon Mart that sell the basic kits- Flag pole, Pole suction fitter etc. 4. Was this the last newbie drive? If yes could I still join in for the Fewbie Drives for experience, ofcourse progressing as per Marshall's instruction on taking on incremental challenges?

  14. @Keithryan for the roof handle and the brake light clips you can check with any of the spare part shops in Sharjah that has the Mitsubishi logo displayed including Divya. For the clips for the side step, that is a common problem, you can find it at any of the small spare part shops, they have it for something like AED 1/- each. Very cheap and easy fix. All the sops are on the First Industrial Street in Sharjah, I have just marked a shop as per the Google Map link below to help you get there. https://goo.gl/maps/TuAH1U6c66s Hope this helps.

  16. @Frederic Nuyttens its 100% worked, please check if this way 👆 is possible because removing and putting back the fuse causes damage the fuse box and terminals Thanks

  17. Well with 600 treadware showing, this much tread can easily run for a year more unless there are some uneven wear or unusual cracks. If passing is done recently, I wouldn't be worried about safety as those guys check the tires very well from the safety point of view. Secondly, it's almost three years old tire with a production date of 3515 means Sep 2015 and available for sale in early 2016 till 2018 now. Michelin has good 3-5 years usable life. Take a plastic glove and run your hand on all tires slowly to see if there is any unusual bulge, although it's not normal for Michelin rubber but still worth a check. If anyone tire has a slightest of bulge then that can also produce a lot of humming noise in cyclic order at low speed and loud uniform humming at high speed.

  19. When it comes to ownership of cars, I've gone through a few. With a very boring line up of cars here for the middle east market and very stringent rules, when the USA car market opened up I saw a lot of Mercedes, BMW and 2 door Honda Accords. I finally managed to sell my first car, my Honda Civic. With money in hand and standing on the car market in Sharjah my eyes could not move from the 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSR4. After the test drive I found out it was a double clutch, turbo charged 5 gear manual. When I popped the hood the engine was tuned by AMG which really got me interested. For a very decent price, the only hassle was to get it registered in Dubai. Besides that hassle it did not give me a Dirhams worth of trouble. But when I got married and with a family, I had no option but to sell it and get a family saloon.

  20. 2 years ago the UAE government changed the law to make it illegal for dealerships to cancel warranty for cars serviced in outside garages. https://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/uae-car-owners-relief-compulsory-maintenance-at-agency-abolished-2016-02-09-1.620419 As long as you stick to the official Nissan service schedule, use genuine parts and keep all your receipts, you can service your car wherever you like. DED take all complaints seriously and will fight on your side against any dealer who tried to cancel your warranty.
