  1. First : falling asleep or at least paying too much attention to the nice music he was listening to - and not enough to the convoy path. Anyways he went down the dune, then tried to correct his mistake, fighting gravity, turning his weels in the direction of the top of the dune.

  2. With regards to the Audio question: your sound will only sound as good as the weakest link. Do not expect any kind of speaker, subwoofer, or amp to do a proper job if wiring is too thin or cheap, or if you skipped on other things. My two cents on this one: 1) Invest in a decent headunit (Sony, Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer) that has RCA outputs. DO NOT buy these crappy converters that convert speaker output into RCA.... 2) In upgrade phase one, buy some decent stereo speakers for the front and connect them to your head-unit. Your sound will already be 5 times better than the cheap Toyota crap speakers. Make sure all connections are properly soldered and not twisted like most shops in Sharjah will do. 3) Upgrade phase two: Buy a 2 channel amplifier and 2 more speakers for the back, OR buy a 4 Channel amplifier and connect also the front speakers. Install everything the way it should be done with proper grounding, power cables, fuses, and put new speaker cables all the way through if possible. Fine tune your amp and learn to set it correctly. A good rule is setting your headunit to 80%, putting the amp sensitivity to lowest possible and slowly start increasing until you hear some distortion, Then dial it back again a bit. Learn to fine-tune your settings such as Lowpass, Highpass, and EQ which you can set according to the speaker capability (regular speakers can be filtered to everything above 80hz). Give it some time and lots of listening to all preferred genres. 4) Upgrade phase three: Buy yourself an additional amp with sub or active system where sub and amp are in one tube or box. Only buy a sub if you really need it, because it takes up space and after having many subwoofers in the past, i came to realize that you can perfectly go without if you listen on "normal" volumes. If you have space for 10" rear speaker then they can deliver pretty good bass. I have seen so many friends and colleagues in the past that would go through these steps in one weekend and go for a full fledged audio setup in which they have either no clue what was installed and they ended up paying too much, or they blew up their amps or speakers after 3-4 months because they simply do not understand the basic audio rules. Can you blow up a 1000 Watts subwoofer with a 100 Watts amp ? YES you can; when you send a distorted signal from the headunit or amp to the speaker, this alternating sine wave becomes DC voltage that burns your speaker coil in an instant. Can you put a 1000W amp on a 100Watts speaker without issues ? YES you can, it is all a matter of setting the sensitivity setting correctly and learning to listen how your speaker reacts and plays. Beware, Subwoofer distortion is difficult to hear...

  3. 1) The dramatic soundtrack was basically asking for dramatic results (just kidding). 2) I feel he went pretty far up the ridge and completely turned his wheel at the last minute, which created the roll-over. If i am not mistaken you should avoid turning the wheel completely and suddenly in the desert and especially on slopes. He then put on full throttle expecting he could push himself out but made it worse by doing so. 3) The backside of dune was very soft and it looked like a LWB Land Cruiser or at least a heavy long car but i could be wrong.

  4. For upholstery the best place is sharjah as there are plenty of shops and rates are competitive due to this. i remember getting my lumina interior roof panel cloth replaced for 200 dhs and the look was exactly same as the original one. in dubai i was quoted 400 dhs for the same job. you can even try going to ajman near corniche area as there too they do a decent job and price as good as sharjah or at times cheaper.

  5. Hi @Shri. Welcome to your forum where you can discuss, discover and learn everything you want to know about your car. I would like to recommend Future Tyres, after extensive search and changing several bushes and parts my car still wobbled at high speeds which was very uncomfortable and concerning. I was pointed out to one of the Business Listings on Carnity and came with high recommendation so I decided to head there. When I reached it was so busy that I thought they were going to push me away, but to my surprise someone approached me in less than 2 minutes, checked my issue and in 5 minutes he made a bay available for me. After lifting the car and inspecting every part one by one he showed me the culprit, 6 bushes which had gone without notice, really worn out and shaking my car like it was going to shift lanes on its own. The quote seemed a bit high, but after checking with a known garage it was very reasonable so I decided to get the job done. I did not regret this as once the car was ready and delivered it felt like of the showroom floor and handling was perfect. The link to the Future Tyres is given below for your quick reference, I highly recommend them also.

  6. A very simple rule of finding out the real wattage of an amp or headunit: look at the fuse size that is installed and use the very simple ohms law calculation: Watts (P) = (V) voltage x (A) Amps (A) Amps = Watts(P) / (V) Voltage Small example: a head unit with a built - in 10 amps fuse cannot deliver more than 130 Watts in total ( 10 amps x 13 volts) So most probably it is 4 x 30 W RMS. Most Watt ratings on speakers and amps are massively overrated. Always look for RMS values and never rely on PMPO values (peak music power output). In my first car I had a 2x85 Watts Rockford Fosgate 60x2 Amp that powered a 200 Watts RMS Sub in mono. It blew my socks off and came to know that high end audio underrates their values while the cheapo stuff massively overrates it. So above formula tells us: a 400 watt amplifier can easily draw 30 amps. If you see that it comes with a 15 amps fuse preinstalled than you know you’re being ripped off 😉

  7. I totally agree on every point you said to upgrade one thing at a time so that you can understand how that change improved the sound quality. Barry helped me a lot in doing proper wiring with oxygen-free cables and soldering instead of twisting that eliminate a lot of low-end hissing and music cut off while doing sideys.

  8. Well said and documented @Frederic, 1 like is not at all enough for such detailed and crisp explanation. In the morning, I was busy and though @DiamondDallas merge two different questions in one post so I assume no point in explaining all things in details and let him research bit on Crutchfield first and then we can slowly build upon.

  12. For seat cover, the best place is Deira naif where the shops are next to each other so you can pick and choose the style, color, and price very quickly. Satwa is also good in Dubai but Naif is better in pricing. Maybe someone staying in Sharjah can advise a few seat cover shops in Sharjah too. If you are looking for a complete redo of upholstery and looking for professional guys Dubai: https://carnity.com/business_listing/car-care-services/car-upholstery/lamst-fn-upholstery-cars-r1162 https://carnity.com/business_listing/car-care-services/car-upholstery/al-kashkha-auto-upholstery-r1115 https://carnity.com/business_listing/car-care-services/car-upholstery/golden-sun-car-upholstery-car-accessories-r1085 Sharjah: https://carnity.com/business_listing/car-care-services/car-upholstery/britania-auto-seat-upholstery-r682 https://carnity.com/business_listing/car-care-services/car-upholstery/discovery-auto-upholstery-accessories-r673 https://carnity.com/business_listing/car-care-services/car-upholstery/noor-al-fajr-auto-seats-upholstery-r670 For Music system, my advice is to stick to all component of one brand to get better output, also research bit on Crutchfield site to mix and match the wattage and type of amp and sub. There comparisons and advices are awesome

  13. hi @Sajith Kumar fixing a new model vehicle seat to the older model at times gets a little difficult as explained by @desertdudeseat connectors and wiring harness dont match and you may face challenges with the seat electrical's. I suggest if you go to any upholstery shop they should be able to re-cushion the seats and you can custom design it as per your taste and comfort level. This will also help you to revamp your interiors and you will end up paying much less then fixing in a new model seat and also struggling with getting the electrical s switches sorted out. Old seat. New seat
    2 points
  14. First you'll have to look if there are connectors there to hook up an electric seat since most manufacturers dont make separate wiring harness of different specs. If they are there then you are in luck its a plug and play solution. But if not you can always do a little bit of wiring and hook them up. All the electric motors need is a power supply and a ground.. Some get messy as they have memory outstations which work with with signals from the cars Becm and all but this only means a little more splicing on your part

Being an early morning person I am hoping there are more like minded people to join me on this morning drive. I am planning on a relaxing morning drive from Tawi Nizwa shops to Pink Rocks and if time permits to finish it off at the Big Red. Plan to play all along the way, so we can enjoy for a couple of hours before the heat kicks in. This will also be an opportunity for those who have not been in this area to explore a newbie level terrain where you can explore and learn the techniques of off-roading. When: 22 Feb 2019 Meeting time: 07:00 AM, the convoy will move sharply at 07:15 AM Where: Tawi Nizwa shops GPS Coordinate: https://goo.gl/maps/KKBUhkQ2y382 Level of drive: Newbie but all levels are welcome to join Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 10 inches of ground clearance What to bring along: Breakfast snacks - whatever you like with little extra to share, water, liquids, smiles and courage. Approximate finish time: 11:00 AM

It has bluetooth, reverse camera,DVD,aux,USB functions in it. Except for navigation.

  18. Hey Buddy, Your amp has 5 channels in total in one housing, just consider it as three 2 channel amps, of which the last one is connected in mono for your subwoofer. Each 2 channel amp has its own 30 amp protection fuse: - 2 channel amp (front) with 2 x 75 Watts Continuous Power Output (similar to RMS): That would take about 10,4 amps (150 / 14.4 volts) - another 2 channel amp (rear) with 2 x 75 Watts Continuous Power, same as above about 10,4 amps - another 2 channel amp wired in mono that outputs 350 Amps, that makes about 24 amps. Important to note is that your amp is able to run on an impedance of 2 ohms and that pushes the amp much higher towards that 30 amp fuse rating. Check how much it outputs at 2 ohms. Fully loaded at 2 ohms you are close to 1000 amps (that would make 69 amps in total). Running the amp at 2 ohm can be achieved by putting 2 four ohm speakers in parallel. Does this clarify your question ? Also do note that Pioneer states their values at 14.4 volts, so that means engine and alternator must be running. At 12 volts your current in amps shoots up due to the lower voltage.

  22. @Frederic wow that's an excellent explanation on the music system. I normally go for a basic pioneer or Sony explod single Cd player with aux and USB port and add a sub woofer and a 2 way amp for the sub woofer all connected by a monster cables and capsule near the battery terminals that helps me get a decent sound on my vehicle.

  26. In my experience, Sharjah has it all. For the upholstery there are plenty of shops in the Sharjah Industrial area, just need to check 3 to 4 shops and bargain even if you feel he is reasonably priced or within your budget, you will be surprised. Make sure the shops you check at have work and are not sitting idle, as you can check the quality of work from the work being carried out. As for the stereo, @Gaurav and @Barry are the knowledgeable people, but there are a lot of stereo shops behind Yasmeen Building opposite Sharjah Cricket Stadium who can suggest a do a decent job at a reasonable price.

  27. It's almost impossible to not to find any spare part in a scrapyard, at the same time it's also tough to find what you need in the first attempt. Remember scouting scrap is not going to the supermarket and pick a can of cola, you need to know how to hunt really well based on inputs from those guys. Every guy say no - should ask him where I can find? will you be able to source this for me? As many times these people get stuff and it gets sold out really fast, so distributing your number to those prospective guys really help. Secondly following there trail of leads also help as they are sitting in that market and know what type of product is available with one specialized scrapyard and when you go over there you will see hundreds of option and feel stupid to not to reach that place 5 days ago. Anyways I searched few scrapyards who deals with Nissan used parts in Sharjah through Carnity Business Listing, call them and see if you get lucky

  29. @Per A I have added a 2 inch lift kit from dobinsons. This has transformed the drive and stability. Added a rear bumper protection just to prevent the rear bumper from being ripped off. Alternatively you may just remove the rear bumper before driving and fix it back later.
