  1. Leave your concious at home on Friday then or else you will feel guilty of 6k rev at times and 2-3k revs at all the time.

  2. I think you covered everything, well done. As you mentioned it was a very very soft patch (and again the sand was a bit wet underneath). I will just add one detail : as shown by @Javier M there was a fraction of second of hesitation when I saw the small pocket below on the right. It doesnโ€™t appear clearly on the video, but it was a quite nasty one. I could have got stuck in an even worst way if I had felt in it from this angle. Letโ€™s see tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜‚

  3. Looks like not many offroaders are interested here in knowing these secrets, as they are happy being stuck. My observation: Everything that Fred and Javier's mention is true + when you are in lead you are bound to get these stuck as sometimes you step on deceiving looking sand, that looks hard from top but super soft from below. So as soon as you step on it, you will get stuck. Sometimes in such situation, only your early action of steering down/away can help to escape such stuck. Emmanuel, please add your viewpoint as a driver in case we have missed any.

  7. Thanks for the warm welcome @Frederic, @Gaurav & @Srikumar, I'll do my best but it's going to be my first time touching the sand and my little driving experience is totally the opposite (eco-rallies and endurance with hybrid cars). See you all on Friday

  8. I was in a massive crash between a Citroen AX and a Audi A6 Avant. I was the unlucky one sitting in the back of the Citroen AX. Came out with only few bruises while the car was completely wrecked. i guess sometimes you just need that guardian angel..

  9. I can see it being useful if you get stuck in snow but in all honesty, if youโ€™re in snow that bad you should have chains on. Incidentally, has anyone ever tried snow chains on sand?

  11. 1) Way too fast for such a heavy vehicle full of passengers. 2) Tried to fight gravity by counter steering at the last minute, but made it even worse.

  15. I thoroughly hate brunches. You see people getting drunk which would have looked much better in the dark.

  16. Just to feel more comfortable i ensured that it is getting absorbed as 50% in rent & 50% in brunch. I like to show clear chart not a messed up one like we do it for budgeting during yearly reviews & increments๐Ÿคฃ

  20. Don't knock Scotty Kilmer. I think he is among the greatest hack mechanics on YT, if not the entire internet.

  22. Thread was "Basic know hows" nothing better than an owners manual for that. And seems like you are also guilty of not reading your owners manual, every Land Rover I've owned has a section on what to do before as well as after you go off road! Ok granted its not much but its there. P.S : I my earlier post I ment toyota and Prado and not Mitsubishi and Jero. So many Pakero threads on this forums one naturally assumes we are talking about a jero.

  26. I have read many car owners manual and never spotted a section specifically for what to do after offroad drives. They all have how to check and inspect fluids, quantity and there specs in general. I think @edouard has hit that nail very well with his thread.

  27. Well if some have been reading my posts they know I have a keen interest in commercial aviation, special aircraft from Boeing. I actually happen to have the flight manuals for the Boeing 777-200, 737NG and 747-8 I can tell you none of them are 50,000 pages, The 777 seems to be the biggest at around 2500 pages. What is mitsubishi upto? My Range Rover L322 manual is 249 pages and it is waaaay more complicated with more bells and whistles than a Jero Anyways still see the 700 odd pages of the user manual, its not iike a novel, its mostly pictures with with a few paragraphs of texts per page.

  32. @desertdude On a lighter note, here are the overview on the number of pages from the manual which comes with Prado. 327 pages for Navigation Manual, 764 Pages for User Manual & 160 Pages for Off road Manual - Total 1251 pages which is equivalent to my Master Degree Syllabus/Curriculum. Missing those days seriously. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

  33. Personally i would not go above 8000 for a good looking Gen2 Pajero. This car has indeed low mileage and might seen little desert which is a good thing. On the other hand, once you start pushing them a bit you'll quickly come to see the flaws or defects. On the Gen2, verify if the 4x4 works properly by testing all modes (4H, 4HLc, 4LO, RD/Lock) in the sand. R/D lock can be tested by jacking up the rear wheels. If disengaged, turn one wheel, and the other wheel should rotate in the other direction. Once engaged both wheel will be mechanically locked together so they will both turn the same direction. If the 4x4 lights on the dashboard flicker it does not necessarily mean your 4x4 does not work properly. It could be just one of those stupid little sensors or solenoids and the Pajeros are a bit known for that. Most of these things are easy fixes. The 6G72 engines are simple, but i was unlucky when i bought mine. The engine misfired because one cylinder did not have compression. Engine was replace by a scrapyard one which lasted one year and then the head gasket gave up the ghost. After failing to find another decent engine we decided to overhaul the existing one. Now it runs great (touch wood). I agree with @Gaurav if you want a trouble-free 4x4 and don't want to spend to much extra money, go for the Xterra. I followed my heart and that emptied my wallet a bit more, but love the little bugger and would not sell it easily.

  34. My dad had a garage after he worked for Ford, GM, etc. so I grew up in the car assembly lines and all my life saw how cars were put together, fixed or modified. Back home I used to do modifications and maintenance to my cars like installing turbos or changing the brake pads, etc. but here I only do some minor mods. I don't have time now after work or weekends when I have to do all the honeydos. I do have a computer so I if there is something wrong I can check it out myself and maybe repair it if it's not very time consuming.

  35. I do my own oil chnages, although recently got the garage to do the major oil change. I wanted a garage to check my car and make sure an expert eye catches any issues that I have missed. I also find re-filling heavy gear oil a messy procedure, and also transmission oil. But I have changed spark plugs, installed a front diff locker, rebuilt a BMW Vanos, brake calipers, as some of my more complex jobs. At times when I pressed for time I will give the car to the garage, but wouldn't mind doing more, but work gets in the way.Nothing more relaxing than a stripped bolt to remove.

  36. Different horses for different courses. Personally, I swear by manual transmission. I have many friends on here who swear by automatic transmission. You just need to try both and see what suits you.

  37. If you buy few Pajeros in different colors might be cheaper than putting that on one Pajero....such things could be breaking the bank...
