  3. You probably hear this question from the petrol attendant every single time: "Special or Super, sir ?" In UAE, the octane level of Special is 95, while Super is 98. I've been refueling Special-95 for as long as i can remember. After all, with the higher petrol prices, every Dirham matters. The following claims are made, please help me in debunking or confirming them based on your experiences and opinions: * It is claimed that the Super-98 has more fuel additives, making it less likely to have your injectors clogged up ? Fact or Myth ? * It is claimed that people 'feel' their car is more powerful when running on Super. Fact or Myth ? (supercars vs commuter vehicles...) * Who knows or checks his vehicles manual to verify if the car is recommended to run on 95 or 98 ?

  4. 95 is good enough for most vehicles including most with forced induction, however some super cars like ferrari recommend to run on 98. You and I would not feel the difference from 95 to 98, however, we will feel the difference from 91 to 98 or from 95 to ethanol. Ethanol will actually give you more horses (not so much though) I tested on a supercharged mustang I used to own 95 vs ethanol (E85) and it gave me around 35-40 extra hp, of course that was only for testing in the dyno.

  5. Not really new but these are three of my favorite bands.

  6. RAV4 is a decent offroader, only negative it has is lack of full-time 4wd n low range box. Immensely popular with the shabab out in Rak specially the 2dr. it's light and nimble across the sand. Would have benefitted immensely from a v6 but no joy on that side. But it's good for you that you polish your skills on it, once you've mastered it you will really kick some ass if you ever move up to a proper 4x4 with more grunt.

  7. 95 to 98 has a difference in fuel mileage and in performance too, but very minuscule. If you test the same car with 91 and then with 98, you will feel the difference is noticeable. MYTH FACT, but its hardly noticeable difference to the driver. It is even written on your car fuel cap if you are lazy to dig the manual. Best is to stick to what is written as OEM advice, always.

  8. Higher octane counts but only 3 more molecules won't make much difference if you really into it then try vp race fuels you would tell the difference like day and night... Usually the grade mentioned in the owner manual is the Lowest you can got many times I have seen a plus along with it that means that going higher wouldn't be a problem The most octane I have used was 210 in my Rav it was really good acceleration but that 19 liter drum didn't have much millage as I was poring it used to evaporate pretty quick and I used to see the needle drop in front of my eyes but that throttle response is crazy....

  9. Yep that's precisely my point, you need to reinforce the rest of the drivetrain because it is obviously not designed for the hp and torque generated by the new engine and transmission. If you have the money for an LS swap, RTA is the least of your concerns this would need to be taken in and out from the sand with a trailer, unless the shop has really good wasta (or however you write it) and can register the car.. we all know there are exceptions for everything, including a simple RTA registration.

  10. Well you wouldn't be surprised if you were a regular at the drives on Carnity...and things my cycle pulls off...😂

  11. My my my. I totally surprised with this coming from you! But yes you are right Regular bumpers, no lift, Two skid plates, king shocks, beadlock wheels and two badges with MBS signature on it make it "made for desert" !!!

  12. 😋 From where you start and where you end is whole different level of Desert Edition or LC Extreme stuff. They are MADE FOR desert. Period. And that's why Nissan only made 200 of these desert edition in Dubai. Btw, you should really see what Rav4 doing with us on big rolling dunes. I hope you get this as an offroader.

  14. I know, just saying that you are perfectly home with the Pajero but were struggling with a 400hp turbo charged vehicle offroad. Whole point is if you have money shooting out of your ass and you'd like to take these things off road and bash them you can if you choose to if you can afford the expensive repairs if anything goes wrong or you break something. Another example. I've driven a Range Rover Sport Super Charged in Wagan, went beautifully everywhere but I hated it! Because just like on road it is very quiet and smooth off road too and you just waft along on the dunes. You get bored after a while. Then we found a big smooth dune and decided to see how far it would climb up. You felt like it wasn't climbing too high before coming to a stop, but coming down and looking at the tracks. It went pretty high up, you just didn't feel it was going that high up, because once again it was a very boring affair.

  15. how do you explain when we tossed a turbocharged engine in place of a NA engine and the car is in the name of wafed it's passed the test last 2 times and probably should be due this year too... there is ways to do swaps one that blows the whistle and other in which its done as it was before... you can do many swaps and still the car will be perfectly road legal and no one will be pointing a finger at you... i have mentioned some and there are more if someone is interested...

  16. As someone who is new around here, how often do you do absolute newbie drives?

  17. A V6 in a 4cyl is not street legal. Try swapping it out and then registering your car without pulling any strings

  18. Thanks buddy this makes my day ! 100 points to @Javier M 😂

  19. You are damn right @Javier M he is our little rocket in the pocket hero. Among all the newbies we have trained, he has picked up so fast and demonstrated same with great confidence and helped others to grow faster. I was impressed from his driving when he was my second lead in Iftar bowl area, and I went in the nasty bowl and got little late to inform Fred to not to come. To my surprise he did exactly same what I did to get in and get out of that nasty spot in fraction of a second by keeping right at my tail in such a tight spot. You rarely see such quick presence of mind and adaptation in newbies.

  21. my two cents is if you are determined then you could take a handicapped blind donkey up a dune and it will climb up and if you are faint of heart then a legendary and prestigious horse will also not lend you a shoulder...remember only 20% is your ride rest 80% is how a driver inputs his ability and quick thinking into play....

  23. You didn't read what I wrote. I said with a little mods. Some bumper mods, slight lift. Wheels are just beadlock rims. Something most serious offroaders do their cars anyways. You probably have more mods on your Pajero than this. And you forget it also comes from the factory with a 400hp V8. Although the 6 is also not bad at all. As for the Cayennes were all bone stock half of them turbos and half of them regular S ones. Nothing modified we didn't even drop to 15osi and kept them at 20psi to totally avoid popouts and not waste time and they all drove beautifully. Just had to be careful with the front bumper as that was fragile and in the beginning one or two of them got dislodged and a whole chunk of wiring fell out from them! But after the first week everybody got used to them. We took them to the desert 3 time a week for 3 months each year for 2 consecutive years. I'm sorry to say if you were having trouble with it either was something wrong with your car or no offense intended you simply not used to driving modern SUVs off-road and more at home with basic old skool stuff like your older gen Pajero.

  24. Clue: It's not about drive, incident and any specific situation. It's about a driver (offroader). I'm really surprise how seniors are still unable to guess this driver........!

  25. So the car is not ready yet but they called me to let me know that when I get it back I need to make sure I do the break in to the new ring & pinion gears. I already knew this but basically you need to do this:

  31. I stopped getting excited or rather all senior here stopped getting excited for a reason, as whenever we say we are excited, that thing stall and hit on our face, lol. So, no matter we are very excited but we never use this word until drive finishes.

  33. Let few absolute newbie express there interest here and we will arrange one of the Friday early morning drive from 3 AM - 8 AM. After September until May, absolute newbie drives are always there every alternate week. Good question @Avinash Vora, looking forward to see you and other new faces on drive.

  34. If there is enough interest like 5+ absolute newbie, we can still do super early morning drive atleast once a month. Idea is to let newbie first see where they are driving and how to drive in sand. Every newbie get plenty of stucks and refusals and if they can see why they got stuck, they can learn faster or it will demotivate and confuse them.

  35. Absolute Newbie Drives would start post September once the day time drives restart. In summers we do night drives where it's not advisable for a person who has absolutely no experience of previous sand driving to join.
