  2. Not really, as you can see on the the light pollution map sent by @Fred : https://www.lightpollutionmap.info/#zoom=6.779569363430645&lat=2642784&lon=6010985&layers=B0TFFFFFFFFFF The best area (which is huge) is located between Al-Aïn and Liwa : Wagan, Al-Quaa, Umm al-Oush, etc. That said, there are many many good reasons to go to Liwa, first of all, the stunning views.

  6. still a lot of farmers driving troopers in Ireland. Rust is the big enemy but it’s to be expected on anything 20 years old. I have a friend with. 3.0 TD running propane injection and he has been mudding in it every weekend for the past 6-7 years with no major issues.

  7. Easiest way to test shock absorbers without shaker plates is to look at the top of the shock where the rod comes out. If there is oil on it, you need to change it. Next step is press hard on each corner of the car and bounce it up and down 4/5 times. A bad shock will keep bouncing after you stop pushing it up and down, a good one won’t bounce.

  8. I do have a scanner and if you have time to come to Ajman then I can hook it up and see if we can pull some codes And regarding the engine mounts even if it's ripped in 2 you can visually check unless you test them...

  13. The worst it that once you go shopping for parts/tools you end up buying things that you don't need or may already have! I love going to ACE and hate it when I end up buying the items nearest to the cashier. 😀

  18. For any suspension upgrade or repair, you need to decide and share on this basic question first: Only for off-road Only for Tarmac Mix usage - daily driver + weekend off-road

  19. First of all congrats @jibransayed for the longest title yet for a thread. Regarding the suspensions you will feel the lag or bounce when you drive or when you are going over a speed bump. Best is to get OEM, have to check if they are firm. I got lucky with a suspension shop in Sharjah who had some lying around from a Japanese import. They were hardly used and once I changes I immediately felt the difference. If you're looking for long term off roading than some after market ones like king shocks or old man emu will do you good. They are stiffer and offer you better traction off road, however they will kill your back on the road.

  20. Damn spent 20k for a plastic lambo body! Bet if they searched hard could have gotten a wrecked or non working older lambo or some other sports car and fixed it up over time. Would be a long term father and son project too and in the end there would be a proper sports car

  21. Come to offroad drives @Barry only if our dear friend @Srikumar can think of a name for his photography club to be formed in Carnity since few light years. May be we can help him here for name suggestion that can combine offroad+photography, so that aspiring photographer with camera's can have an hour or two break or late exit for pursuing this night photography, nature, stunts, portraits, selfies etc.

  27. In no particular order, 1 - Cars. That’s obvious, that’s why we’re on Carnity 2 - Music. I listen to a lot of genres. Play a few instruments too. I’ve been neglecting my playing but I started getting back into guitar and ukulele a couple of weeks ago. Been playing keyboards since I was 4-5 so it’s a lifelong thing 3 - Beer. I gave up drinking spirits a long time ago but I love to try new beers as much as possible 4 - DIY. I love fixing broken stuff. Next project is the water heater in the apartment now that winter is coming At home I used to enjoy hunting, mostly crossbow, sometimes shotgun and LR. It’s hard to beat some fresh fried rabbit. I used to fish a lot too, easy when the river is a 20 second walk from my back door. Fish from the supermarket can’t compare to a fresh trout or salmon you caught yourself. I used to hike a lot and would regularly spend 3-4 days in the mountains with just me and my dog and a tent. I used to cycle a lot. Used to be into racing too but it’s an expensive hobby. I miss my old life but it’s hard to do these things in UAE

  29. What industry do you work in? What job are you looking for? Maybe someone here can help? Dont forget to look at indeed, bayt and dubizzle. The market is tough at the minute. I’ve been searching for a new job for the last 3 months and I’ve been getting offers but most of them have been stupid offers. Last offer I had was 4K per month to manage a garage. 2 years ago that would have been a 15k minimum job. There are so many new people coming to Dubai looking for jobs and offering to do the work for a quarter of the price, so the older more experienced people are getting pushed out. Racism is a big issue too. When you read the ads you see, European only, kabayan only, Indian only, Pakistani only. Illegal, but nothing is ever done about it. A lot of people get hired because of the colour of their skin, wether they can do the job or not. When I first came to UAE I had a hard time getting a job as a mechanic. People would always tell me white people cant be mechanics. Of course they can, I’m from a white country, all the mechanics are white, but here people looked at me like some sort of novelty because only brown people can be mechanics here. Then you’ve got wasta and nepotism. People will hire people they know, just because they know them. It doesn’t matter if they can do the job. You really need to do something to make yourself stand out from the crowd. Have something nobody else has and make yourself noticeable. I used to have people sending me CVs every day. Most of them went straight in the bin. But, a good CV will stand out and be noticed. Change your CV around and make it applicable to the job you are applying for. Don’t just make one generic CV and send it to everyone. Changing a few sentences here and there can make it seem like you’re really interested in that particular job and make you stand out. You need to sell yourself. It’s not the employers job to make you shine, it’s yours. I won’t lie to you and say the job market here is awesome, because it isn’t. Finding a job takes persistence and hard work. When you’re working you work 8 hours a day, maybe more. When you’re not working, that’s 8 hours a day you should be spending looking for work. The most important thing is don’t give up hope. Keep searching. If you try hard enough, you will get there in the end. It will take time but you will get there. Stay positive, keep applying. Print your CVs and go and visit companies in your industry. You can always sell yourself better personally than you can from an email. Good luck
