  3. And recharging tech and batteries and their standardization. Just like you don't need to go to a Ford petrol pump to pump gas in your Ford. Even with Tesla only with their superchargers can charge your car quickly other wise from a normal wall outlet is like over 24hrs And most EVs don't have charging connectors that are compatible with others

  4. Here’s one of mine. Sadly it’s the only picture I have. I had a lot of pictures on photobucket and they deleted my account without telling me. Wasn’t the best example, was very rough underneath but it performed well. M3s were very cheap a few years ago so a lot of them got bought up for drifting, staging etc. and it’s hard to find a good one. The Evo Individual I had was perfect in every way. I sold it to buy a UR Quattro and the Quattro deal fell through so I wish I had kept it.

  5. Every once in a blue moon i go on Dubizzle to have a look at the Japanese import BMW's. While their asking price is a bit on the high side, the mileage is generally low and they seem well maintained (something to do with the Japanese i guess). I've been hunting a nice E39 5 Series (528i and above) in the past as i have fond memories of a good friend of mine that had a 528i full spec with the M5 rims. For me these generation of German cars are amongst the best-built cars i have ever seen. Just closing the door was like closing the door of a bank vault. Driving it was such a pleasure too. I hope one day to have the money to own one again and the space to put it (and the time to maintain it)

  6. @Salarios Great story, thanks for sharing. When this Covid thing over we should get together all petrol heads and makr something like cars and coffe. We can show our cars to each other and have conversation about them.

  8. I want to get a new car, and I usually go for feature than performance. But I want to make sure that it won't be a hassle later, I have seen multiple cars Jaguar E-Pace, Infiniti, Volvo, and Volvo is the best when it comes to features. But I'm a bit skeptical about the after sale/services/ease of re-sale. What is your advice here?
    1 point
  9. Why you not considering getting almost new second hand one. You can negotiate more and your resale loss will be lesser. There are many low km almost new Volvo`s around.

  10. Hi guys; Today i noticed deep cuts on my front right side tyre at my SLK200. Any idea why this will happen? Also is this look safe to drive or should i change immediately. If i am goingto change i am thinking about Continental Contisport5. Where i can get a good deal at Continental tyres?

  12. The other question, can I negotiate with Volvo and get a better price or a better offer? or no way I can get anything than the advertised price?!

  13. Legend Says " Fuel Cars are harm full for environment because the carbon emission, Oil burning so on" What about Electric Cars Mining of Lithium 1.Child labor for Mining 2. Land erosion 3.Burning of Coal to Produce electricity doesn't that cause Carbon problem must be more i cant really think of now. But my question remain how are electric cars better for the Environment?
    1 point
  14. I think it’s better to run an old car until it dies rather than buy a new car, environmentally speaking. The Old car isn’t going to create any more pollution than its exhaust smoke because it’s already there but the new car will create extra pollution in the manufacturing process.

  15. Sure @sertac . It's a 1999 Estoril Blue E36 M3 Evo imported from Japan to Dubai about 10 years ago. It currently has about 115,000 kms on the odometer. It originally came in SMG transmission which I converted to 6-speed manual, because SMG is a nightmare. The previous owner also put a Supersprint exhaust on it which is a bit too loud for my taste (I prefer engine sounds over exhaust sounds), but I haven't had a chance to change the exhaust back to stock yet. Other than regular maintenance and tire/rim upgrades and sound system, I haven't touched anything else. The story behind my love for this car started way back in the day when I used to own this red 1992 325i (AKA: the red beauty) in Vancouver, Canada. I held three jobs in high school (including a dishwasher at a restaurant) to be able to afford its maintenance and upgrade expenses. It was a lemon car, rusted out and in horrible mechanical condition, but I loved it nevertheless, and dreamed of one day owning its big brother: the Evo M3. Reason I said I know how @desertdude felt about his P38 is because I had to sell my red beauty to help pay for university. Then about 7-8 years ago I was chatting with my brother about our dream cars, and he was mentioning the Aston DB9, which was quite expensive at the time, and I mentioned the M3 Evo. It was a highschool dream I'd forgotten about. So we looked through Dubizzle right then and there, miraculously found this one for sale, called the gentleman and told him to consider it sold, and showed up with the cash. Easy sell for him, and I get to relive my childhood dream every time I look at it. Thanks for pushing me to share my love story about this car @sertac ! Cheers.

  16. Can you share more photos and tell us the all story about the car? I believe there are a lot of E36 fans here.

  17. You are right, there are hidden costs associated with electric car production that doesn't get much attention. Lithium mining causes water pollution, land erosion, and lack of proper lithium recycling has environmental impacts. But the reason it doesn’t get attention is because they are local problems. And greenhouse gas emissions caused by combustion engines are a global problem. I believe the general consensus is that the overall benefit outweighs the costs, and that's why electric cars are projected to grow from around 5 million currently to over 130 million in a decade.

  18. I love the M3, never seen a E36 in Dubai. I had 3 of them in my home country, M3, M3 Evo and M3 Evo Individual. Perfect handling, perfect balance and perfect power. I love your Iron too. I’m lusting after a forty eight at the minute but I can’t justify it. Yet. All my bikes have been Japanese apart from one but I was working in a hot rod and chopper shop for a while and got bitten by the bug.

  19. Spot on @Xaf, same I was about to suggest, but been busy today. So @m_abdelfattah you have below options and see what best suit your taste (heart) & wallet (mind), place in same order from heart - mind. Hope it helps. Buy same Volvo if your heart is set on it or on some feature - self reward is priceless. Buy 6-12 month old Lexus NX - (F Sport Platinum) Full option Buy new Lexus NX - Platinum Buy 1-2 year old Lexus RX - Flagship model and will have more bells and whistle and will hold insane resale value. Buy 1-2 year old Lexus GX - If you plan to add bit of off-road in the future + suffice for future family expansion. Buy new Prado - If you plan to add good mix of work and exploring off-road in the future + suffice for future family expansion. Few other tips for new car buyer, if you hold your first year temptation, you can easily shave 20-30% off the ticket price and you can def find sweet deal these day which are 6-12 months old. Secondly, if car residual value is not an issue - Choose German, UK, EU cars in UAE. If resale value is a concern then best is to stick to Japanese boys and second best is US. @desertdude I "heard" that in 2018 Nissan and Infiniti fixed the CVT issue after those class action lawsuits in US, but still if someone interested in buying Infiniti, they need to do thorough check and research over last two year faulty claims all around the globe.

  21. Technological advancements in automotive manufacturing is reducing production costs and delivery lead times. Thirty years ago, automative plants were 25% automated, today they are more than 75% automated. This has resulted in an increase in factory output of more than 8 times. So the expectation is that the electric vehicle revolution will be quicker than the combustion engine revolution.

  23. Sorry for late reply. I've got a very limited experience of riding in UAE. I got myself a Harley FDFX Fat Bob, 1690cc in UAE & Harley Super Low, 1200cc back home — both bikes are fun to ride. Any bike under 1000cc will feel very under powered when you're long rides, specially here in the UAE. I've been to few bike rides with my biker group and brands I mostly notice are: Harley / Indian / Honda / Suzuki / Triumph. Every brands has a riders group + there're tons of independent group which you can be part of. You can definitely find some great deals from now until start of the season. If you have any question; just hit me up. Cheers!

  24. Thank you Fred! It was my childhood dream to own an E36 Evo M3 (inline 6 with individual throttle bodies, and 50/50 weight distribution). Found a clean one in Dubai, bought it, will never sell it

  26. @m_abdelfattah - With that budget, I assume you can get a new car or a pre-owned at a certified dealer. If it comes with a good service package/ deal/ warranty, I would just go for the car with the highest resale value. (based on ownership of 5 years) - Will the car be parked inside or outside? I know from my colleagues that owned Volvo xc90's and parked their cars outside, they had a lot of problems due to the heat. Good luck.

  27. Yeah been hearing that for the past 40 years. Also that right about now the place I'm sitting at should also be underwater due to melting polar ice caps.

  28. Very There's only about 50yrs of oil left on earth at current production levels, so replacing gas-guzzling cars with electric cars should theoretically be much sooner than that. Also because of massive technological advancements in manufacturing and global distribution.

  29. Why you are buying compact SUV, in first place for 190K? Just to change, and self reward/compensation ! Is this going to be a family vehicle or commute or both? Both! Is this going to be the first or second household vehicle? Second, the current one is Honda Civic EX 2016, and we love it! Any family extension plan in near future? One/Two children?! How soon you plan to change it next? 4-5 years Hope you know most of these compact SUV aren't even good for beach sand, let alone the real off-road. For me Secret beach every couple of weeks is the max.

  31. Well good you share the budget now and if you can share few more details, that can help even more. Why you are buying compact SUV, in first place for 190K? Fuel constraint? Space constraint? Vehicle size constraint? If it fits your current requirement, then by all means go for it. I'm just asking. Is this going to be a family vehicle or commute or both? Is this going to be the first or second household vehicle? Any family extension plan in near future? How soon you plan to change it next? Ignore this if this doesn't apply: Hope you know most of these compact SUV arent even good for beach sand, let alone the real off-road.

  32. I never said that, on the contrary I said seems like you've already made up your mind up on the Volvo so go for it, Just understand what you are getting into.

  33. Anything with a Nissan/Infiniti badge and a CVT gearbox in it. Run as far away as you can from it. But it seems like your mind is pretty much made up on the Volvo, in that case go for it. Great cars and a great drive but expect expensive maintenance and resale at the price of dirt.

Only 5 years old luxury, comfortable and quite fast car for that price is not possible.

  35. What I really like about Volvo is the high-tech features (Pilot Assist) and the interior design. Infiniti's interior design is poor (especially the 2 screens), also it does not have Apple Carplay or Google Auto integration which is crazy, as I have both in my 2016 Civic and I use them all the time. While from my POV the only two features that Volvo lack are remote engine start and cooled seats! Jaguar E-Pace has the best exterior design and the least features, again.

  36. If we were living another location i wouldnt even consider Infinity over a Volvo. My Grand dad used to had a S60 2.0T, bought at 120.000km sold at 230.000km it was just amazing. In UAE, it is sad but dont even consider having a Volvo. Just move with Infinity it will be great for here. If price is not high consider also Lexus it will be even better than Infinity.

  37. Infiniti and Volvo is a bit of wrong match of league to start with. Infiniti, Lexus, Jaguar goes together and Volvo, Nissan and Toyota goes together. My personal choice will be Infiniti QX50 over Volvo XC40/60. Infiniti luxury and premium feel is uncomparable. Infiniti (Japanese) are more reliable and well tested over EU brands in UAE. XC40 is a new league of its own in compact crossover since 2018, so need more time to mature and demonstrate trustworthiness before asking for 150-200K AED. Only downside of Infiniti will be the CVT gearing, depending on if they have fixed it well now or not. If resale value is not your main concern, then Jaguar E-Pace makes much better choice with looks and performance. Have you considered Lexus NX...?

  38. I love volvos but UAE isn’t a good place to own one. Check out the price of parts. I was working on a XC a while back, I don’t remember which model, but I do remember paying 800 dhs for a set of front brake pads. I felt so bad about it that I didn’t even charge the customer a markup on them.

  46. Hi All, long time...Anyone can please advise which is the best of the best company for LED light bar for Jeep wrangler. I tried two times and it just looks bright but not showing anything beyond 100-200 meter range. First time got from dragon mart and second time from sharjah little bigger one, but still reach is missing, its only showing the white spread is good to see but not to appreciate it.

  47. I recommend that you get a light bar that has Cree LEDs for durability and better light output.
