  1. I don’t mind the timings at all @Tero Vallas. To me, they’re actually perfect as I get to do something I like, and be back home by the time my family is ready to tackle their Friday; be it movies, shopping or lunch. The early timing makes it that these drives do not interfere with my day; and that’s a big plus. Now as @Rahimdad mentioned, when the Carnity structure has more drive-leads, I would like to see more Saturday drives and more afternoon drives. This way, the times and dates can cater to everyone 😀 Last but not least, @Foxtrot Oscar, when we’re fully staffed and ready, I’d like to see someone deflate and inflate my tires, while I sip on a cold “non alcoholic” margarita 😂😂😂

  2. @Ahab Shamaa @varunmehndiratta @Sai Baskaran @Luca Bregni @Pickey Singh @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ @Explored Dubai @Derek Fernandes @VipinShetty @bassel el rafei @Arshad Roojee @Ken Hüüdma I for one am looking forward to the drive on Friday. Why - I've been there before with Fewbies and I really like the challenge of bringing newbies into territory that normally would not be used. The really good part about this routing is that (at least until 2 weeks ago) there was not a lot of traffic around these routes. In some of the places we drive there are hundreds of cross tracks and churned up sand because the whole of the UAE 4x4 world is driving there (Fossil Rock, Pink Rock and some parts of Al Qudra come to mind). Between Murquab and AL Qudra there is less traffic, which means we are likely driving on some virgin sand and making our way over dunes that few travelled before. The other reason that I like to come to this route is that we can elevate or raise the level depending on the convoy response in ways that is not so easy in other areas, because there are so many varied challenges. To be sure, there are big wide expanses of sand where we can drive up down and round [if anyone has a drone and it's not a no fly zone, we could have some fun here]. We can also very quickly dive into the technical dunes which are a challenge to many newbies - but which will improve your control and finesse no end. And the end of the drive has some nice cross overs, higher dunes and lots of pipes and chanels to drive through where getting stuck in the soft sand means a difficult moment for self recoery from a refusal or more challenging recoveries. My request to you - if you cannot make it: tell us now. There will be people to fill your space if you don't want to/can't come. More to come during the week. See you soon in the sand.

  3. Totally agree. early morning drives gives enough time to reach home early and continue rest of the day with family, so no complaints from home ministry as well. 🙏 it win win for me. 😃

  4. Hi @Bernd Stucke welcome to Carnity and its off-road club. Everyone has shared a very good and fair approach on knowing your vehicle first before start modifying it, this advise you seldom get anywhere else. Jeeps have plenty of mods in the market and most of them are purely for looks, appeal and head turning approach. One of the most famous of all is to have BIGGEST POSSIBLE tires with biggest suspension lift to make it look like a monster Jeep. I totally agree they look awesome but they aren't useful for sand desert and inherently risky (prone to roll-over) with such high lift without widening the stance in the same proportion. Mud-Terrain (aggressive tread) oversize (33-37 Inch) beefy looking tires comes with super heavy weight, so unless you intend to do some slow speed mountain crawling or climbing, they are practically useless in the sand. Rather these bigger and heavier tires will slow you down and restrict your long hill climb "substantially". Long hill climb is an every offroader dream and goal to reach on top of the tall dunes and when your head turner jeep can't make it even 50% of the climb, then you will get into power modification (another money pit). Exhaust, headers, filter, chip-tuning, supercharger, re-gearing ratio etc. So bottom line, I was trying to explain here that how one wrong (not required) move can make you link with another expensive mods is like a chain reaction and there is literally no-end to this vicious circle. And even after all the mods and power mods you will be able to squeeze 10-20% power gain with plenty of risky and some borderline illegal (not allowed by RTA) stuff will open another issue of sacrificing the reliability of your Jeep in the long run. We see crazy stupid highly modified 4x4 catching fire in the desert almost every month and you will see there remains too once you start heading in common areas. With gladiator being LWB you will need extra skills, practise and patience to manage this long vehicle in tight spots and knowing its true capabilities and limitations. It's nothing alarming, but just bringing it here, so that you know that before going to the mod-route you have a long way to master this beast and its own set of unique challenges. Hope to see you soon in the sand.

  5. Thank you @Tero Vallas for your kind suggestion and very interesting question. I'm sure as you progress further in our off-road structure you'll realize the many logistics that apply to be able to post and support all the drives we have been able to do so far. With more members doing well and being promoted we should have more leaders and supporters in near future to be able to rethink about the timings. In the meantime I thank everyone involved with the Carnity off-road club to give so many options and drives with sufficient support and safety which is paramount.

  8. Easiest way to describe it Ahab is that I learned my lesson on taking drivers into technical dunes in this area. Was an historically long drive ... Middle of summer. Enough said for now ... Most of us use Gaia GPS. There is a brief tutorial in the site, and I will happily talk you through other details on Friday if you want. If more drivers want it I can give a general briefing on it. I have a premium account. Basic, free account is also good for starting out.

  9. Thank you everyone for the feedback and for welcoming me. I think it is great idea to first get to know my car and do as many rides as possible before trying to make the car even better than it already is. See you on one of the next club rides. Cheers, Bernd

  12. @Carnity dear friends from my side any timing which is convenient to the group in terms of safety , daylight and “ home ministry “, ( @Rizwanm2 copy right ) , convenience is ok for me

  13. I like the early rides and watch the sunrise in the desert. That is maybe one of the benefits of the current schedule. But it is also true that sometimes a couple of additional sleeping hours would be a nice to have, especially to cope with family activities on Thursday evenings. I guess that when more leaders and support level members become available, we will have the opportunity to have the best of both worlds with a larger "menu" of options.

  14. Drive times ... @Tero Vallas as Rahimdad mentions, the drive leads are all volunteers and club members too. Some of already drive morning and afternoon so the gap between the drives shortening makes it impossible for us to get from one to the other, or rest in between. That's the frist safety element. The driver is more often than not the daylight than the convenience of getting up a bit later -that's the second safety element. As Rahimdad says, one we ahve even more elads, we can look at this again, but for the moment, it seems most people are OK with the early morning starts: I personally like to feel some cool air for the first time in the year that's not from an airco.

  24. Welcome to the Jeep Wrangler madness. I have lost count of how many things I have done to my jeep. But the only thing that I can assure you, is that I have enjoyed the journey from my original stock jeep to my heavily modified current version very much. My suggestion to you is for you to take your time to consider your options and evaluate the real necessity of any change. Drive and drive and then again drive to identify the required updates. And after spending your money don't look back and enjoy.

  25. It's better to learn from other people mistakes by analyzing these offroad accidents. This will be an educational tool with open discussions regarding mishap in off-roading based on your own experience and off-road knowledge. Please keep it simple and relevant for learning purpose rather than making any insulting or unwanted remarks. VID-20180502-WA0000.mp4
