  1. @DANIEL NOGUEIRA sorry you had to cut the drive short, but it’s better to take care of these things. Glad you made it back to RAK safely. Thanks to all of today’s drivers for being so fabulous and allowing me to take you galavanting through the desert. I had so much fun! Thanks to @Brettefor his wonderful support , @Veedooshee for executing a great second lead. It’s always a pleasure to see @Ahab Shamaa and his truck of many gadgets. Likewise @Archibald Jurdi you get better and better with that lovely car of yours. Well done too @Lucky sAm for handling your car so well in those technical dunes. @Rajeevan Vickneswaran had a great drive too and of course the Xterra posse took everything the desert threw at them, well done @Vineeth John Joseph @Sajit Modiyil @Rizwanm2 Until next time ☺️

  2. Hi everyone, thanks a lot for a memorable experience and it was fun driving with all of you. It was a wonderful day to start with, the weather being really good and thank you @Wrangeld and @Jeepie for a fabulous anniversary treat in the Sands. For me it was like a well balanced meal and enjoyed it a lot. Starting off with some sideys and criss crossing , then on to the technical terrains and dunes and a pop out to deal with (very informative), and few refusals and stucks where some physical activities with shovel along with @Mahmoud Asar and @Nivin.... A perfect off-road experience !!. Special mentions to @Nivin for his efforts in recoveries.. well done bro 👏👏. To conclude the drive in a sentence " a well lead , well assisted and well swept drive"!! Thank you guys once again and hope to join you guys soon in the sand. Keep cool and safe ..👍👍👍

  4. I don't know about you, but I really enjoyed this drive. Yes, I will accept it was a bit 'bitty' due to the number of recoveries - but that was, more or less expected because we were doing just the sort of practice and 'exercises' where people get stuck. If you keep in mind that, as drivers that do not have lots of experience behind them to criss cross and ridge ride, it's inevitable that we will get stuck. We could have just played on the wide dunes to our heart's content and convered more ground - but then what would the learning have been: that we can drive up and down the dunes and do a bit of side slipping. Instead, we approached the crest of dune after dune and rode the ridge or crossed to the other side. We ploughed through some soft sand and even ventured into some of the smaller more entertaining dunes that Qudra has to offer. We did not get technical (anyone interested I will post a Lisali drive soon) but we got close to it. And we covered a lot of ground and different types of dune. The teamwork was as always amazing - the enthusiasm to help each other out is astounding sometimes. The area around Qudra has so much to offer, and was we saw this morning, a lot of that area is not regularly travelled. It means we can drive without worrying that other convoys will come along (think Pink Rock or Fossil Rock) not, until we get close to the lakes do we need to worry about cross tracks. Highlights of the day? I am not sharing that one, because what goes on in Qudra stays in Qudra. Let's leave it that there are just some challenges that you might think twice before making. There were some excellent perfromances today. It's really great to see how drivers develop from Newbie through Fewbie and on to higher ranks. No specific feedback today because i think that everyone learned something and it would be good to think about what your key takeaway on the day was yourself. @Jeepie - sorry to choose a hobby that means we have to get up at 4am every Friday. As ever your help held it all together today. @Nivin it was a bit of a workout with all the diging - and you did great For those driving next week in Liwa - make sure your car (that means tyres, valves, flags, oil etc) are all in good order. It would be a real shame if you had the chance now and it was your vehicle that fails because of something you could have had a look at in the next few days. Liwa is simply not the sort of place you can 'wing it'. We can get away with it in Qudra because we are 15 km from a road at any time. In Liwa the roads are 50km or more away, and there's no recovery truck that can make its way in. We all saw the car in the bowl in Qudra this morning that had been left by its owner - you really don't want that to be you next week. As an anniversary drive, it was great. A chance to enjoy a bit of the community of Carnity and a great group with which to share the drive. Looking forward to seeing you all again in the sand soon.

  5. DRIVE REPORT Leading an Absolute Newbie drive is always an adventure, and seeing the smiles again after a few hours of dune-driving makes it all worth. We started off with deflating, and stressed on the importance of getting it right. There is only a little bit of air pressure difference between 14 or 18psi, but the result can be felt immediately, so it was good to experience this and practice it right. Nevertheless after a few hours of desert driving the pressure will slowly creep up again, so it's good keeping an eye on it from time to time. The entry point brought us almost immediately into the long range dunes, where we practiced some minor sidesloping and made some nice loops. Firstly because it is fun, but also because it teaches you all about steering control and the use of momentum. The two Pajeros behind me, with @Abdul Rahman Abdul Kader doing an amazing job as second lead, and @Abilash Madhavan getting the hang of his capable Pajero, were in pursuit of my little blue, that has spent a week in the workshop and i was glad to finally take back the steering wheel. @Santhosh kumar Rajasekaran driving the mighty Range Rover, is not the easiest vehicle to learn, but you did well and kept a cool head, even when the engine starting throwing some errors and @sertac had to do some diagnosis with his magic OBD box. @Gavin Hill and @Chris Meir were excited to hit the dunes, and you guys both did amazing. Gavin, i hope your initial fear of getting the Hummer H2 stuck in the sand has been replaced with the confidence and knowledge that the key thing is momentum at all times, especially when driving a big mighty V8. You both did a cracking job ! @Rajesh Anchan and @Bala Krishnan both brought their Prados to the drive, and both drove really well ! The same applied for @Dinesh Dembla and @pramod who brought the legendary Landcruiser. Well done guys ! @Thomas Varghese you were in the back of the convoy and that is always a little bit more difficult because of the churned up sand, but you were also lucky to receive the wonderful guidance from @sertac who did an absolute amazing job today. Keep up the momentum and don't be afraid to wake up the beast that a Xterra is. You will be surprised once it wakes up Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. UPDATE FOR NEXT WEEK: BECAUSE OF THE LIWA EVENT THERE WILL BE A LESSER NUMBER OF DRIVES ON THE WEEKEND OF 4 DECEMBER For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag and radio as a minimum. Learn to deflate your tires and checking them precisely Learn to fix a flag on your car Learn to program and fully charge your radio Also like I mentioned during the debriefing, join the Carnity Whatsapp Drive Notification to get the latest updates on the drives, so that you can RSVP on time for the next weekend's drive. Please have a look at below topic which describes the tools needed for every level. There is a separate tutorial inside which explains which radio we recommend and how to program them: (Please do not buy the Baofeng 888S spare radio we gave you, as these cannot be programmed without a special cable and software). Please have a look at below grading structure that explains various off-road levels: See you guys soon in the sand again !

  7. A huge thanks to you too @Foxtrot Oscar! You’re a natural leader and your relaxed demeanor always seems to rub off on your herd 😀 Today’s drive was a lot of fun and @Brette and all my fellow drivers were so helpful, it made the drive even more pleasurable. I also enjoyed our collective shoveling exercise, and it made me realize how out of shape I am 😂 The fact that Angela and @Veedooshee were first and second lead, made a hugely positive impression on my 10 year old daughter (on me too😀) 💪🏻 Great driving with you guys, and see you soon on the sand 😀

  8. Today’s drive was rather calm and peaceful compared to those we attended previously, hence why it allowed us to truly admire the beauty of the desert one dune at a time rather than dashing through them. The convoy held itself pretty well with having just a few refusals and No stucks, really impressive for the newbie level. Towards the end of the drive many drivers conquered the Pink Rock, some did struggle but it wasn’t an easy climb. It was disappointing that the Wrangler decided to give up on its power and not make it up the climb, I guess it’s in need of a doctors appointment 😂 Thanks @Gaurav for being a really supportive Marshal and being really active throughout the drive. Moreover thanks for the advices given towards the end for our Wrangler, would help us a lot, and it also shows your depth of knowledge in the field. @Chaitanya D was in Sweep; saw him make several trips towards the middle of the convoy to help the fellow drivers out of trouble, it showed his activeness and dedication towards his role in keeping the convoy mobile.

  10. Hello Team, It was a nice get together and enjoyed every bit of it! Both Fredaric and Sartaj were amazing. The brief at the start was excellant and took away the nervousness. The tips coming in from Fradaric on when to accelarate, when to decelarate etc., were top notch and helped a lot in not getting stuck. Sartaj put in his expertise whenever needed. The machine Pajero was amazing as well responded to all the needs, never thought the stuff we did was possible with it! Last but least, the team was great and kudos to everyone! And to anyone who still havent decided to do this, it is an amazing experience which we need to go for. Afterall, no point in keeping your 4x4 as a showcase! Looking forward to the next!

  22. Hello everyone, thanks for the partial drive, it was being very fun... I drove home (RAK) with the car, after changing to 4x2 the noise was much less, and checking mow, its probably axle bering issue probably because of a ripped rubber cover that doesn't allow sand to get in... so small details that we should check in the cars.. See you in the sand !!!

  29. Dear Desertnauts. Let's gear up for this interesting Premiere of the Ganthoot Blitz. As mentioned in the drive's description, we'll be aiming to reach the outskirts of Ganthoot, and the border with Abu Dhabi. We'll be facing different challenges in terms of terrain, from technical dunes to open cordons, from hard smooth surfaces to gluey, soft sand, from controlled "finesse' driving, to faster more exciting pace. We'll be required to adopt several driving styles, with the more difficult parts of the itinerary being on technical dunes, at the beginning and toward the end of the drive. Here, even in this time of the year, the sand can turn very soft, with these stickier patches becoming treacherously invisible, as they are generated by wind accumulation which wipes the dunes clear of most signs. This mix of driving styles, and the possibility of having to patiently and skillfully find our way around some difficult areas, make this drive an Intermediate one, with plenty of opportunities to exploit your acquired skills, and test more advanced ones. Convoy order will be as follows: @Luca Palanca Falsini will be the Second Lead @Mehmet Volga will drive in 3rd place @Tero Vallas at #4 @Nabil Bishara in the #5 position @marks at #6 @Heisem will be #7 @Kailas #8 @Alexander Alcala will take #9, and @Pancho will Sweep the convoy Please reach the meeting place, a couple of Kms along the dirt track off the road to Bab al Shams, as close to 6AM as possible, so that we may start promptly, even if we'll drive the first few minutes in the low light preceding the sunrise. Tune into Carnity Channel #1 (446.006), and be ready to enjoy a new, interesting and diverse track. Have a great Friday, and see you Saturday morning.
