  1. I never seen a LWB 3.5 Pajero made it to the top. SWB can but LWB max i saw was @Mehmet Volga climbing %85-90 of it.

  2. Faya is a very bumpy climb, and if you hit one or two nasty ones during the climb, your suspension doesn’t have time to recover from that properly. Take into account that the LWB Pajero is also quite heavy so this amplifies the “galloping” effect even more. Scaling tall hill climbs is not its speciality given the average hp to weight ratio. Having said that, with the right skills of taking a good line, wiggling the steering wheel a bit, and optimizing your gear to keep it in its sweet spot, it will take you quite far for a stock 4x4.

  6. Thank you @Mohamed Seidam @Frederic @sertac for the insight. So limitations exists in the car and the driver and I need to work on the latter by doing more drives and then may be the limitation of the car may not exist 😀

  7. I believe that this is an amazing platform for off roading. Proper chasis underneath, solid axle, diff lock. Sometimes companies offers one engine at the beginning and another options follow later on. If they put the 3.5 on this than we will have a new champ on the city. I guess 3.5 Nissan engine is 306hp. With a front bumper + skid plate you will have a off road ready machine. I hope this is not me being optimistic. I hope to see that 3.5 under the hood by next year model.

  9. Hi @sri ganesh regarding feya climb . I have seen raptors not able to bring it to top while other less powered vehicle could , regardless , climbing tall dunes like feya entails practice with your own known vehicle so sooner or later you will find the way how to do it . What most important is to do it safely always. I have to admit that I had my own fear first time I did it and let go the gas .trick is you should build up the momentum and keep it either from the beginning or half way. Depends on your vehicle power and your approach ( you can reach it from middle straight up or riding the ridge up , this one slightly comes in later level maybe ) wish you best and safe drive 👍

  10. Congratulations @Lorenzo Candelpergher, @Janarthan and @Luca Palanca Falsini for successfully completing the first session of leaders lead with flying colors. As you all have learned the basics first and demonstrated a perfect way to lead an independent drive in the desert, now it's your chance to work on the routing and planning skills. You will be learning the basics of leading the convoy in the desert in three different steps: Advance sand reading, plan your lead, plan your exits. Use of navigational software for selecting the right course of path. How to systematically scale the lead for all the cars in the convoy. In this second session of leaders lead you will be leading with the help of off-road navigation app or device. You can choose any device or app (motionx, gaia, mytrail etc) and mark these basic points and you will be required to reach any one or few of them: Entry and Exit Solar Park Al Qudra Desert Opp Bab Al Shams Mark long range playable dunes Mark pylon tracks, cycle tracks Mark as many sabka, flat track or easy exits in case of emergency Mark fencing or restricted area Mark technical dunes P.S. I will personally check each of your device to verify and help you further. 16. I think the real limitation specific for feya is the three to 4 nasty bumps in the beginning and no matter how stiff were your suspension and your vehicle power are , the only way to reach the top is the driver input through his skills as previously @Frederic noted. for me I found riding the ridge from either side to top is less bumpy however it needs careful balance and keeping momentum as if you leave the gas paddle once know that you need to exit on either sides and try again.

  18. @sri ganesh you almost did it bro. unlike my 2006 LWB pajero baby elephant, after 2 bumps RPM went -ve. I can see I have to spend alot on my suspensions and tires to be able to drive in advance level, or the ideal choice would be to go for some SWB ride. but meanwhile, I will keep surfing on it and will try to learn from all the experts like you.. Good Luck.✌️

  23. Thank you for leading the nice drive @Vanessa8580, @Nivin and the entire convoy, it was an amazing drive and many lessons learnt and new insights into what my car (and I) can do. With the attempt to scale Faya on Pajero 3.5 LWB, though did not complete this time, I was happy to the extent the car let me push it, I felt I was galloping on a horse and reminded me of the Liwa drive up the Moreeb. I thoroughly enjoyed driving in the bowls and the technical dunes as well the highways during the commute Looking forward to my next drive and i also have a lot of questions Is it just the Pajeros or others also experienced the galloping effect in the seat when driving up the Faya dune? is it to be expected and good or does it have an effect on why the pajero, suspension setup on it perhaps, could not keep up the momentum to scale the tall dunes? It did scare me a bit and I may have let go gas pedal for a second and hit on it back when i realised how soon it affected the momentum and i decelerated so quickly when scaling the dune and I "may have felt" a have positive effect of lower resistance when i started accelerating back not sure how, not before i found myself not moving any further and had come back straight down. The second attempt I did not let go the gas and had not better levels.

  24. The 2021 Xterra in my opinion is by all means incomparable to the previous rugged one ( till 2015 ) for what we do at least . Regardless of all other variables , the new one weigh slightly even heavier than my X with 2.5 cc engine while the rugged one about 2 ton with 4.0 cc V6 engine that generate almost 261HP . this segment of vehicle that are capable of off-roading in its stock form are slowly slowly fading away 😔

  25. This one is extremely common for newbies or amateur offroaders and we have seen many similar side flips and roll-over, the key culprit here are below two reasons: Follow the line of car in front has taken, as precisely as possible. If you slip down, then call it a refusal and exit safely to circle to make a second attempt. Fighting with gravity when you missed the line is the key mistake that many new offroaders make and they will only learn to perfect the line with continuous experience. Soft sand, tire pressure, leaving gas all come secondary and play very marginal role to save or worsen the situation.

  28. Woohoo! @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ! I’m very happy for you; well done 😀 A big kudos also goes out to your loyal and persistent co-pilot. Your son is learning so much on these drives, that once he starts off-road driving, he’ll be placed in the advanced level immediately 😀 You’re starting to understand how to get the most out of your “Yellow Beast”, and I believe that she’s rewarding you by helping develop you a solid driving style. @Gaurav, I believe Muhammad should be classified as ‘Fashionable Intermediate’ as he makes every effort to vary his off-road outfits, and most importantly tries to match outfits with his handsome son 😀 I’m looking forward to driving with you in this new level my friend!

  29. Drive report It was quite chilly this morning and the heavy wind made it even feel colder than it was. I was happy to have my hoodie en my scarf with me and I had my seat warmers on in the car .... Once everyone arrived and deflated, I did a quick briefing and we started to move. I explained in my briefing that we were going to do some technical terrain first, then a few kilometers on a dirt track before we would reach Faya. We had no issues at all in Suweydan and could keep a good pace so we reached Faya after 1 hour. Luckily it was very quiet at Faya so everyone had a turn to try and make it all the way up from the front. @Salarios @Yusuf Esaf @AlexPol @Jack Thomas @Nivin @Vineeth John Joseph @Karthik Krishnakumar and even @Jon M with the Montero Sport made it up ! He was very impressed with his car and he had a smile from 1 ear to the other !! The 3 Pajero's all had a try but couldn't make it and @Ranjan Das missed a few horses I'm afraid or maybe it was the very heavy tyres on his car, he was a bit disappointed he couldn't make it up but he will make it one day .... After a while, we saw @sertac convoy approaching so we made space and moved on to the bowls behind Faya. It was getting a little more busy in the area with a lot of different other convoys so we had to be careful. Everyone drove very well in and out the bowls and we didn't have any mayor issue just a few refusals which could be handled very easily. After last week's drive with a lot of shoveling, I didn't have to take out my shovel this week ! Thank you @Nivin and @Salarios for all your guidance over the radio, I was lucky to have such good support. I think everyone had a lot of fun, I sure did have a lot of fun, and I hope to see everyone again very soon .....
