  2. Thanks @Francois Germishuys for your detailed and valuable feedback on today's extreme drive. This surely help us define stringent process to vet extreme drivers. As per Carnity belief we do agree that we have to help each other and wait patiently, but by no means extreme drive should turn as a qualifying round for new extreme drivers. Extreme drives should always offer a top-notch drive experience for worthy and qualified extreme drivers, who look up to such drives with great expectations. As we have recently updated the structure, and added new extreme rank, so very soon will

  3. Hi all, sorry I had to leave early, rather safe than sorry, will have the knocking noise checked out at Ford tomorrow. Below my experience today, it wasn't an extreme drive as I hoped, its my opinion, its constructive criticism, use it to improve. If anyone has anything to say about my driving skills and ability to handle my tuck please feel free to put your comments below. @Luca Palanca Falsini good location for an extreme drive, perfect for fast paced extreme drive..... just wish we could get to that extreme level but unfortunately the convoy wasnt able to perform to that lev

A drive under the moon light what a pleasant drive one can experience under the full moon light , tingling senses and eye pupils half dilated appreciating the faded semi dark out line of pink rock while climbing it , amazing tranquil ! Every one suited up ready for the night dance under the 🌕.the tumble hit up and down between bounce and dance with intervals of pause for break and breath so along we knew some secrets and tips of how to synchronise elegantly and safely in the dark. It was a night drive that luckily I didn’t miss and I hope we do more of it as the summer heat is

  5. DRIVE REPORT Dear Desert Wanderers, I guess this was one of those drives that will be remembered by all those who attended it for some time. After many drives in known areas, today we had a chance to explore a new territory, an absolute novelty for @Carnity drives, and it was certainly a challenging but rewarding experience for us all. Al Bataeh area, believed for long time inaccessible due to the extensive fencing visible from the nearby roads, is - in fact - a hidden gem, offering a very challenging terrain with beautiful views on irregular an complex terraced dunes, w

  6. Thanks @Tbone for this fantastic drive and choice of terrain. It was absolutely a virgin track and almost bush free. Was drenched in the beauty of the land scape and chasing the rising sun and moon following us. Thanks to @Janarthanfor sweeping the convoy to safety and recovering and @Xavier Treasurerfor the second lead @Ruan van den Heeverfor CF who did a great job. Thanks to @Warren Flay, @Karthikeyan Govindarajan, @Zed, @Hasan Wahlan, @Farouq Owdeh for joining the wonderful drive and all the fun together and learning something new. Thanks once again @Tbone for finishing the dri

  7. Thanks @Luca Palanca Falsini for an exciting drive to start the day...it was good fun and experience surely added to confidence. Shuwaib and Luca are undoubtedly the best combo for some adrenaline rush.🙂.perhaps we could hv been a bit faster but then it was my first extreme drive so I am not the right person to judge . Thanks @Francois Germishuys for feedback...it's not easy to call a spade A Spade ..that's the only way we learn. Highly appreciate your feedback. At this level we need to be prepared to plan for driver ahead of us and assess accordingly - basics of convoy concept too

  8. Thanks for your [email protected] Germishuys and I really do appreciate it as this is what will help us correct ourselves and improve further. I honestly hate it to be the cause of holding others in any convoy but of course more in extreme drive if you remember I told you that I was a bit nervous and that was exactly for this reason like I was asking myself what if I’ll be the cause of slowing the extreme drive? just exactly as you said the extreme drive should be for driving continuously but of course with odd things will happen to anybody and that’s totally understandable. as always p

  10. @Lorenzo Candelpergher You are absolutely right , everytime We join your drive We learnt many new things. The most significant lesson today was how to maintain balance between speed, power and control in nasty passage and soft ground.. Look forward to learn new things in another drive.. @Ale Vallecchi , thanks to lead by example on how to be excellent SW. You always available in every technical issue we faced. @All, great to meet you all, with our great team work, the difficult terrain become so easy and all of us drive well today. Look forward to meet you in the future intermediate/extre

  11. hello off-roaders, it was an energetic drive we had today morning and hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. all the drivers showed up on time and after the preliminary steps , started off at 5.20. It was an amazing sunrise view and thanks to @Vanessa8580 for the selection of the route and terrain. it was my third drive with @Vanessa8580 one in my absolute newbie, second one in my fewbie level and third in as a support role with the person who flagged off my offroading journey. I still remember @Vanessa8580 helping me in deflating my tires and she had commented on my oman registration plate

  13. Thank you @Nabil Bishara , @Islam Soliman and @marks for the excellent drive today. First for starting early anticipating the heat and related issues. After doing a few drives on the red sand at pink rock, qudras white and unused dunes were a welcome treat. I was lucky to be given the opportunity tow and recover a crested car. Each drive gives a new experience and learning. Looking forward to more drives with all of you . The convoy was excellent too.

  16. A thousand thanks @Tbone for the wonderful drive ably assisted by @Janarthan @Ruan van den Heeverand @Xavier Treasurer. To be in Sweihan to see the sunrise is in itself, treat enough but to then get to bash those virgin dunes as well? Priceless! Good job everybody, we had a good selection of stucks, refusals and pop-outs to learn from and a lovely mild morning in which to deal with them. I look forward to driving with you all again soon.

Thanks @Frederic for the opportunity, after the trip my wife asked me for the photos, and after post-processing I showed her the below shots... then she asked why can't I get the moon bigger, and I replied "1. Need to buy 600mm lens, 2. This 12MP is just good for video, for still photos I need the 40MP+ one" then she replied "Your photos are good enough, no need to upgrade" 😂😂😂

  19. @Lorenzo Candelpergher @Ale Vallecchi you make a great partnership! Lorenzo you challenged us all and I tip my hat and fully compliment plus admire how those at the back end of the convoy managed as the tracks worsened! I usually consider the SL role the best seat in the house however on this drive it was likely a very challenging role and kudos to @Arman … as you mentioned he was flawless … and fast as @imranaasghar81 will attest this was a stunning drive visually, though we didn’t get to admire the views for too long. The occasional breaks were very welcome.

  20. @Shaz Shah I totally agree with @Chaitanya D regarding the X front stock tow recovery point . just adding if relevant generally it’s advised to pull using the back and be pulled from the front whenever deemed possible .

  21. Hi @Lorenzo Candelpergher This was a meditation kind of experience for the three hours. One had to be connected to only one thing, i.e. the terrain that was changing every second requiring utmost focus and attention. Very short distances to gain momentum to climb, sharp drops and turns were the highlights...it was an utmost concentration drive. This is also my first technical drive. Keeping a bit of distance from car in front also helped in avoiding mini refusal situations and thanks for allowing it by keeping the speed of the drive that way. You leads take all the risks judging what is ahead

  22. @Shaaz Sha xterra front tow points (stock) are in herently weak and break off with repeated use . To make it worse there is only one! Another minor flaw being they are open D type, where the shackle tends to slip off while being pulled from an angle. My advise is 1. Make with 8 to 10mm thick steel - min, with reinforced beams if possible. Closed D or eyelets preferable as you can thread a soft shackle for tugging or a D shackle for towing. Fabricators go crazy when you ask them all this 🤣 2. 3 bolt pattern to make it robust if you are getting it made like the stock ones (stock

  23. Dear Desertnauts, without further ado, let's unveil the drive's meeting and deflation point: it will be at https://maps.app.goo.gl/V1SQwxnUEXJLGh4X6 just passed the mosque located near one of the Lisaili exits off E66 and the camel drome. The drive will retain an element of mystery, once entered the Lisaili plateau, as we may direct ourselves east toward Margham, keeping the sun at our back, or west toward Solar Park and beyond, following the sun's path. With the shorter convoy, we'll try to push the drive up one notch: we'll drive with the following revised order:

As expected it was an awesome drive and I really enjoyed it thoroughly. You are right, all that time spent in the passenger seat helped me understand my car, and the sand better, it was my greatest strength today. @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ Good job at being a great passenger, should really do it more often 🌝 @jamie [email protected] [email protected] Samaco Great first drive with your wranglers. 25. Dear Absolute Newbies, You are no longer absolute newbies - after today's drive, you are all firmly in the newbie camp. as we drove our circuitous route this morning from Bab Al Shams to Last Exit you had chances to cross dunes, descend, climb and negitiate some nice obstacles along the way. @abdelrahman abounar your timing ... well less said about that the better. Please listen to the instructions when you have a problem. It will help you and your fellow convoy members. Well done today. A manual is a new set of challenges. @jamie taylor great first drive. 29. Large but well organised convoy this morning. Thanks Vanessa for organising and leading! The morning drives get earlier and earlier and darker and darker... I managed to lose my valve whilst deflating in the dark and thankfully a spare was offered by @Hisham Masaad and the kind offer of a powerful torch. @Vanessa8580managed to locate my original valve and we were soon on our way. Thank you both! Drive warmed up at a gentle pace as we all enjoyed a particularly cool and breezy morning accompanied by a stunning sunrise. We drove up and down some small dunes as we weaved towards Pink Ro

  30. I always drive in 4H, never 4HLc and I don't have any problem with power. I think you just have to learn to drive in manuel gear and get used to the car. Once you are more in sinc with your car, you will feel how much throttle you have to use and when ....

  31. I don't drive Pajero but here is my observation my car is partime 4x4, so when put on 4wd it's direct connection at center, 50 50 front back I have noticed that my steering angle is greater than Tim's LC and Vanessa's Pajero (not sure if she uses 4H or 4HLC but I guess 4H). To follow their tracks I have to over steer sometimes and thus lose some traction in the front.

  32. Shaaz is the tig welding strong enough for a tow point to use for off-road recovery, i am just curious. Personally I think it is better to get a rated tow point bolted. Because for Xterra, the stock front tow point is like a hook and few times i saw the rope slipping off the hook while recovering. Actually @Chaitanya D would have a better knowledge on this, he has robust tow points.

  37. Totally agree with @Foxtrot Oscar and @Nivin On the slip side of the dune “ mini” multiple fish tail cascade happens and this in particular need proper speed and steering control in synchrony , the slightest mismatch dictates exiting immediately . What I think his/her attempt to exit was late when the vehicle was already inclined more than 45 degree to over come the imminent flip
