  1. Thanks a lot @Gaurav for the nice words and all Team Carnity for this trust you have placed in me. I still remember my AN drive with @Srikumar in July last year just after the lockdown started to ease out and I never though this will take me here.. countless number of stucks and refusals and car parts that were flying left and right on the sand and we just kept piling them up in the trunk 😂 it’s only due to the leadership and coaching of every leads and support teams in these drives, the patience from all fellow drivers, and the friendships made on the sand that I got here and didn’t give up. I had my first pop out with @Srikumar on my 3rd NB drive and I still remember my feeling then.. once he told me you have a pop out! , I thought I am dead.. had no clue what that means and what happens now.. then I stood their mouth opened astonished watching him and @Vanessa8580 getting on their knees and working it out to fix it. I remember my first drive with @Gaurav.. I think was my 4th.. and I was 3rd place next to a Duster and I saw how he carefully picked the path to match the tiny underpowered Duster and the behemoth Yukon behind it until he had to step him self into the Duster to bring it up on top of Fossil rock. I remember my fewbie drives with Richard @Wrangeld who got me hooked into technical drivers and how patient he was to help me out through these tiny pockets.. I miss these briefings of yours Richie. @Emmanuel who was the first to take me on top of Faya. I think this was the time when together with @Chaitanya D we spent an hour trying to fix a pop out on an X (not sure who was it).. and then in Dec was also my first time to Liwa with him. my first night drive led by @Frederic and then the first drive I led and my first NB drive led was also with @Frederic. i remember @Ale Vallecchi’s look at my car and I can see all the question marks in his head wondering what this car is doing here 😂 but never said a word other than encouragement and fully embraced the challenges I brought to his drives. @Chaitanya D I can’t count how many drives I had with you 😂 I definitely won’t forget the one in Sweihan. Can’t forget my first driver behind Angela @Foxtrot Oscar and I became a permanent RSVP on every drive afterwords to Area 53 and Faqaa which were both dominated by her black X and Yalla Yalla. @Lorenzo Candelpergher whom I loved how he managed fast paced drives with his mighty Y62 (sorry still prefer it over your Rubicon).. @Brette whom I never had the pleasure of joining his drives yet but still remember when he was supporting my 2nd NB drive where I kept trying for 30mins to get out of a bowl and he never gave up on helping me with advise and directions. @Kailas @Mehmet Volga @Anish S @Janarthan @Tbone @marksWhom I always loved being on drives or being together in the same drive. I can go on and on and will never have enough words to thank everyone in Team Carnity and all club members for the wonderful experience I had over the past year and how much change this brought to my life.. The journey continues and looking forward for more fun and more friends in the Carnity Family..

  2. Congratulations @Islam Soliman for reaching the Marshal level with Carnity Offroad Club. Islam has Joined Carnity a year back with a very high spirit and calm approach with his GMC Yukon. With regular off-road drives and exceptional enthusiasm toward off-roading he soon found his peace in his newly discovered passion. His dedication for off-road drives, skillful contributions and commanding support on drives were always been highly appreciated. Islam has been well-known to tame the Yukon size beast successfully and then master it on the most rigorous terrain in the UAE. His persistent approach and keen observation to solve any problem during the drive, car, or the planning stage has been very instrumental. Islam specializes in utilizing and optimizing the team effort with great maturity and a level-headed approach at difficult times. His exceptional patient and tolerant approach towards new offroaders and tricky situations with a humble attitude is a cornerstone of this achievement. 3. Wow @Islam Soliman, my first gut feeling that you will make it all the way to marshall is when we managed a impossible pop out in a super soft bowl behind Faya (with @Emmanuel)and 2nd drove from Yahar to sweihan lady dune and then progressed all the way near adnoc sweihan.(along with @Kailas) I was absolutely mesmerised how well you controlled that beast-yukon driving at the back in a convoy. At times when everyone was driving so well and you pushed the limits ,it was beautiful to see how you managed it. Quite impressive how you have experimented, taken some risks, planned some engaging drives propelled your promotion to Marshall @Islam Soliman. Well done and proud of you my friend.

  4. DRIVE REPORT Dear Desert Wanderers, My very first drive with @Carnity, on 20.03.2020, started from Tawi Nizwa Farms as we did today and ended in awe after climbing Pink Rock. The memory of that first ascent to the Rock remains, as much as much as the rest of that drive, undeletable, in my mind and certainly made a substantial contribution to my passion for off-roading. Today, 18 months after, I had the privilege to come back to those very same dunes where I fell in love with the desert and lead for the first time a @Carnity Newbie convoy. By 6:28am the convoy was flagged and deflated, ready to move. @darren thompson called the convoy order over the radio and everyone fell diligently in position as we started heading North-East into the desert. The first minutes are always a "warm up" time, during which everyone gets acquainted to the feeling of driving in the sand.. including the realization, for someone, that the car was still in 2H! The sand was very wet and therefore clean, smooth and compact, very unusual but incredibly nice terrain conditions for a drive like today's. As we made our way into the desert we started venturing higher and higher along the sides of the dunes and riding the multiple fat ridges that the area had to offer. The convoy did amazingly well: whatever I would throw under their wheels, all drivers managed it without an eye blink.. We climbed tall dunes, we rode long ridges, we crossed straight up - straight down several sharp crests.. And yet, everytime, everyone made it through without issues. Yes, the terrain helped us a bit, but it is also true that with such a compact sand we were able to venture way beyond what a Newbie convoy would have done in normal sand conditions and, still, everyone did perfectly well. Awesome!! Our wandering took us North first, than South, then North again, offering progressively closer glances at the spectacular landscape around Pink Rock, which we eventually reached from the South-West Side, occasionally coasting by the long spine of rocks that emerged from the sand. After driving for the good part of two hours in almost virgin sand, approaching Pink Rock was as inspiring as shaking due to the immense number of tracks that were dug in soaked sand: we were driving in sand mud!! But, hey, it felt great to have conquered all of that: Amazingly, we didn't record a single stuck nor a single refusal throughout the entire drive and we only stopped due to some passengers being a bit car-sick. "A bit" is probably quite an understating, especially for @GratefulKRD's passenger, who however showed admirable resilience and determination to complete the drive, despite multiple offers for an early exit on the tarmac. As we drove down from the crowded play area at Pink Rock, with convoys driving from and to all possible directions, we again started a nice stint across mid-sized dunes on the West Side of the rock, roaming around for a while before approaching the starting point of what was going to be the most exciting moment of the day: the climb to the top of Pink Rock. After a deserved break, spent contemplating the beauty of the rock and of the view in front, we eventually descended to the North and made our way out on the tarmac next to 2nd December Cafeteria. All drivers today are to be congratulated for an excellent drive: @Mohammed Mansoor, on his 1st Newbie Drive just one day after his Absolute Newbie one, was excellent in his Y62, a car (and I say it out of my own experience) definitely not easy to drive in the sand, but one that will make him a great offroader. Nothing to worry if the bottom of the car hits the sand when crossing a crest.. It feels awkward in the beginning, but he'll get used to it. Very good attitude when he steered down on sideslopes where he was losing momentum. @eldose babyled his Lexus brilliantly across a complete new terrain. As with Mohammed, a few times he lost momentum on sideslopes, but managed well avoiding to fight gravity. @GratefulKRD put his brand new Wrangler Rubicon to the test and certainly enjoyed how capable the car can be. He unfortunately also experimented how uncomfortable it can turn for passengers, especially in the back seats. But as far as the driving is concerned, today's experience was a good one: I think the biggest takeaway was that, when ridge riding, staying at the center of the ridge is key in order to avoid sliding down on either side, which then becomes difficult to recover. @Johannes Roux drove well today in his Prado. Some hesitation, on one's 3rd Newbie drive, is normal on steep climbs, especially when you don't have a chance to see what's coming on the other side. With time, dealing with the uncertainty of what's behind the dune will become normal. Given the extremely long convoy, I didn't have too many chances to see how the guys at the back were doing, however I couldn't miss @Rsjiv Samuel's red skid plate: I guess today's drive was quite a different one compared to the first 9 Newbie drives he's had before with @Carnity, but I'm sure he realised how much more a compact sand allows to achieve with his FJ Cruiser. Well driven today. @Joji varghese probably had the same experience as Rsjiv driving his Fortuner on an unusual terrain such as today' s one. Well done as well! @hasan hamadeh learned the hard way how different the sand can be after the rain. I hope his front bumper / skid plate can be easily fixed. His statement, during the briefing, that he "never needed a shovel" with his Raptor was duly noted.. It will be up to the @Carnityleads to prove how essential this piece of gear is.. 😂😂. The Fewbie lot @Alphin Aloor@Zixuan Huang - Charlie, @Sunil Mathew had to deal with quite a lot of churned up sand at the back, but handled brilliantly. Kudos to all! Overall we drove 48.4km in 3h 8', of which 2h 30' spent moving and only 38' idle during breaks. We scored an average speed of 15.4km/h (19.4km/h while in movement), which was possible thanks to the compact sand throughout the drive. A massive thanks to @Alex Raptor and @darren thompson for their impeccable support in the few occasions when it was needed. And an even greater thank you to @Wrangeld, my off-roading mentor, who was with me 18 months ago on my first @Carnity drive, with me on my first independent lead and with me today for my latest promotion.

  5. Dear @Islam Soliman. You wrote the most thoughtful and all encompassing comment to any promotion. It's a testament to your full, 110% participation to the Club's life. Everything you achieved off-road has been fully earned, with your earth and mind. I didn't think my looking at your Yukon gave my worries away....but I was a bit worried on that Pink Rock drive when we first met. And yet, your will to learn and persist has not only brought you to Marshaldom, but has made me a more thoughtful, and hopefully better leader. I enjoyed enlisting you as my repeat SL in many of my drives, and look forward to off-roading with you many more times.

  7. Dear brother @Islam Soliman, don’t know from where to start and where to finish. From my heart, very happy to see your hard work and commitment been appreciated, and promotion after the other is happening. I am sure each drive you lead, takes a lot from your time and effort, to assure all behind you will enjoy, and remember after they inflate and leave the desert. You give things from your heart, and always try to satisfy all. Me and Abdelghani still remember, when we were in Shuweib, where you had a problem with your car, and felt guilty for us leaving without some play, and asked me to take the guys on a short tour, that was really showing how do you care about all of us. I do appreciate your hard work and effort, and wish you all the best in the future. Congratulations Habibi 👏🏼

  8. Congratulations @Islam Soliman. Fantastic achievement at an amazing pace as well. It just seems like yesterday when we first met on the AN drive, and to be honest I was worried about the Yukon with it's low hanging bumpers and air dam. After crossing every dune I would turn around to check if you crossed safely, but you have stuck to that car and achieved probably the impossible and that is taking it everywhere in all kinds of terrain and for that I have the utmost Respect for your drive skills. Well done my friend. The journey is only just beginning as you would now be mentoring and guiding many first time off-roaders as well. Cheers.

  10. Congratulations @Lorenzo Candelpergher for reaching the Marshal level with Carnity Offroad Club. Lorenzo has Joined Carnity early last year with a brand new Nissan Patrol Y62 and with loads of passion and excitement to conquer sand dunes. With bare minimum underbody mods, he managed to learn the entire off-roading from newbie to expert level in that Y62. With his complete dedication and hard work, he has become one of the best offroader to manage a heavy 4x4 through all the terrains in UAE. Later on, he bought the Rubicon for desert use and reserved Y62 for the family. His extreme passion for sand driving, leading and supporting off-road drives made him rise through the ranks to become an integral part of Carnity Family. His contribution and intelligent support behind the drives, planning and great teamwork were always been highly appreciated. 11. Thank you @Islam Soliman for the drive this morning. The fluid portions through the bowls and ridges were really beautiful, it was a pleasure to go through with the increased pace of the convoy ! For the rest, ... it was packed with action, your drives are never boring, and as usual you handle even the most tricky situations with calm and safe attitude, and the smile ! Thanks @Hisham Masaad for the support, and we could see the FJ in action !!

  12. Thanks for another eventful drive @Islam Soliman, where we not only had to help out with issues in our own convoy but also a lone FJ wolf who was very fortunate to find us nearby! It is an amazing area and one day we will complete it I’m sure 🙂 Thanks to everyone who supported and see you all soon 🌵 PS - Some photos in the gallery.

  14. Thanks to all of you .. such a great team despite of all the challenges we had and extended time you all stood like ONE together against the Shuawib challenge.. unfortunately today we couldn’t manage to get to Badayer but as I told you in the briefing it’s not the designation that matters, it’s the journey that we should enjoy and I personally enjoyed every minute. An update on @Amir Amiri, he is out and should by home by now. We met at 4:00pm together with another 3 cars with the mechanic and I took them all to the car and had to leave them there as I had my family with me.. he called me an hour ago and confirmed the mechanic managed to fix it and they are out. @Amir Amiripls ensure all your suspension is throughly inspected as with these repeat issues on the suspension it is not safe to drive with it and could lead to bigger problems. Hopefully all is ok and looking forward to drive with you and all of this amazing team again soon.

I am sure all these must be regular stuff for many of us, but when we hear them out loud like this, it means a lot. You are truly blessed with good memory and power to express them in a very nice and positive way.

  34. @Pacific @Enrico Biscaro @Santoso Marjuki @Danish Mohammad @munkybizness @Rawad @Janarthan Beautiful hard sand today, and that made for good and relatively easy practicing of ridge riding and criss crossing. Especially in the virgin dunes we found before crossing Pink Rock and even climbing Pink Rock was a piece of cake. A nice small convoy also meant that we could start moving quickly again after the odd refusals and reattempts. It was nice to be able to see most of you most of the time, After Pink Rock we found some more fun, but there were quite a few tracks around making it a little softer and a bit more challenging. Lots of other vehicles also meant finding an alternative track sometimes, but we slowly made our way to the big dune next to Big Red. To my surprise it was really busy and after an overheating car and daylight slowly disappearing, I decided it was better to start making our way to Big Red and play there a little (close to the exit) So we could exit at any time. Great teamwork from everyone, good convoy discipline and great support from @Danish Mohammad and @Janarthanmeant that @munkybizness pop out was dealt with very quickly. @Pacific you were handling the second lead position perfectly and you redirected well whenever needed. @Enrico Biscaro I love that you keep trying and you must have learnt the most today. You were doing fine and it is perfectly normal to have a few refusals. (No digging or rope needed, in fact the only time a rope came out was for a senior😉) So you recovered yourself , and that means you got the most out of today. @Santoso Marjuki you were doing fine. The only thing I would like to ask you, is to acknowledge on the radio that you understood what the lead or support are saying to you. @munkybizness driving very nicely as far as I could see and apart from the pop out no other issues that I can think of. @Rawad keeping cool (finding shade in the desert😃) and very calm. You did a perfect (supervised) rope recovery. Well done! @Janarthan always good to know you are keeping us safe and together. I thoroughly enjoyed myself today and I hope you did too. Pictures posted in the gallery @Gilbert Khalil we missed you

  39. Now I understand why Raptors are usually at the second half of the convoy. there is no better sand churner than a Raptor (especially the grey ones). The trenches left by 2 Raptors front of me were deep enough to burry my little Pathfinder... Once again, congrats @Lorenzo Candelpergher for your promotion, this is my first time driving with you. Even tho it may be a newbie drive, but definitely one of the most wonderful drive I have had in the area. Look forward to more drives with you! And thank you @Wrangeld @Alex Raptorand @darren thompson for the flawless support. Till next time.
