  2. Great drive everyone .. despite that the area was abused with cross tracks everywhere but you guys pulled it together and manage to push through without hesitation.. bravo to all πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ the sighting of the camel herd below Iftar bowl was a first for me and with the cars gliding behind the top of dunes behind it was the perfect marriage between the old and the new it was very sad however to observe all the damage left behind by irresponsible humans with the massive trash everywhere in that area 😒😒 thanks again @JeromeFJ for the excellent 2nd lead and thanks @Russfor the great support everywhere .. all drove extremely well and we managed to all get out without any cars left behind .. @JeromeFJ hope your DEWA bill payment attempt succeeded πŸ˜‚ Looking forward for driving with you all soon

  3. Drive report We set off after the brief and headed along the track and into the blistering white dunes of Bab al Shams. We weren’t long into the drive when @Erik Ean had an issue, at first we thought it was the car’s over protective system but as we moved along the dunes Erik heard an unwelcome sound and his transmission light came on. That was that , hope you get it resolved soon. We had some more delays and @Alex Raptor was in action with the rope to come to the aid of the stuck drivers. With the delay I decided to try and get as much drive time as we could, I avoided the trickier patches of technical dunes and headed to the wide-open spaces the area has. This afforded the convoy the opportunity to practice some side sloping. One by one all tackled the dunes with aplomb. It really was terrific driving by the entire convoy. There wasn't a fishtail to be seen, and all managed to get just the right amount of momentum. Fantastic! We managed to cover quite a bit of ground in the middle section and with the sun beginning to dip I decided to head to the exit. We hit another patch of soft sand at a tricky spot, and the one stuck car took a while to recover. The sun was beginning to set and the chance of losing the light became real. Rather than risking more refusals I rerouted the convoy. We had one or two more refusals before we finally reached the track, with the newbie convoy getting to experience a bit of night driving. With one final stuck just at the track caused by the super soft construction sand, some shovelling, and a short tug resolved the issue. Newbie drives are all about getting used to what your car can do and understanding how to handle it in the sand. When the sand is soft we use the car’s momentum to get us through it, we also wiggle the steering wheel to help with traction. You’ll all start to get a feel for this as you continue on your off-road journey. @Erik Ean hope the issue is easily resolved with your car @Bruno Finel. You managed a couple of great self recoveries towards the end of the drive and you handled the side slopes really well with no fishtailing. Well done @Shantanu Joshi , nice recoveries when needed and another who coped well with the side sloping well done. @Mark Shepherd – great driving, I don’t think you had any issues bar one self recovery. Well done @Michel Van Woudenberg – great to see that beautiful car of yours in its natural habitat. You handled it really well. Great drive @Imteeaz Goolamhossen – I don’t think you had a single issue all day. You handle the power in the SS really well, applying a touch of finesse when required. Great drive. @KAMALIO – A nice easy drive for you today. Well done @Mohamed Shawky – You handled that big truck really well, especially in those tight spots towards the end of the drive. I think you only had one refusal . Great drive @Manish Kashyap – Same as Mohamed , handling a big truck in tight dunes takes some skills. Well done. Many thanks to @Alex Raptor for his excellent support and for his report above. Thank you @basel el rafei for being my CF and thanks @salah2u for an excellent 2nd lead. Finally, we covered 45km, driving for 2hrs20 and stopping for 1hr30. Not bad πŸ˜‰ Until our next adventure

  4. Fun and challenging afternoon, some soft and tricky patches in places. For most of you these are still early days in your off road driving careers, so with the introduction of slide sloping techniques was invaluable today, skills building step by step is key to your development and learning to master the sands. Most of today's issues were caused by a lack of momentum, this comes with experience but learning to know when you keep moving, feeding power in to overcome the softer areas and remain committed to the obstacle in hand, I also noticed drivers stopping very close to the car in front, please do remember that whenever you stop, make sure your car is pointing down, its very difficult to gain momentum when you are already pointing uphill. You also need to work on your radio discipline, its important to learn it now, ALWAYS announce on the radio ANY refusal, no matter how small, as this has a knock on effect to the rest of the convoy, a delay in position 3 or 4 for example, then knocks on to all the other positions causing the convoy to stretch out. ALWAYS say your name and your car. Remember there is no shame in getting a refusal, its not a race to recover, it is to be done clearly and safely, and if nobody knows what you are doing then this cannot be achieved. There is always help available to you so sit tight and where necessary we can assist you. Also please remember to take your radio with you when you are outside your vehicle, obviously we cannot communicate without the radio, we had a situation today, where the driver was 150 metres from his car and the convoy was moving and his passenger was announcing the driver wasn’t there and waving cars through, this can't happen. So please ensure your radios are with you at all times. All in all a fun afternoon, our middle bit of slide sloping and some crosses was perfectly executed and I hope you were all able to pick up some new skills. Some really good self recoveries as well, and where we did have to dig, thank you all for your team spirit and camaraderie to the task in hand. One final point for any of you who had mechanical issues today (flags, radios or cars) or warning lights, please make sure you have them replaced/thoroughly checked before signing up for your next drives.

  5. Summarized in a sentence! Thank you @Ale Vallecchi for yet another great drive. We started from the bright dunes in Al Qudra area, all the way to the Al Hayer area in Abu Dhabi, navigating through Ghantoot and Al Faqa. From what I could see from the position I was driving in, everyone did well, @Zed and @PaoloMaraziti in total control of their vehicles and dominating those tracks perfectly. @GauravSoni and @Jeepie thank you for your support! As usual a pleasure to drive with everyone and also to meet other Carnity members. Have a great week ahead!

  8. Thanks @Foxtrot Oscar for leading us through the soft sands. We faced lots of stucks in the convoy which only gave us chance to bond with the rest of the group while waiting so all happens for the best. The highlight was where we all stopped to inflate was really soft sand as well and next thing we know when @Foxtrot Oscarand @Alex Raptor leave we have 5 cars inflated and stuck πŸ˜‚. Fortunately there was one car that was not and pulled one out and there-forth we all worked as a team and bail each other out while we blocked the entire on coming traffic on the highway. Lesson 1 : Never inflate on soft sand πŸ˜„ Never again. Lesson 2: Afternoon drives can become night drives sometimes 😜 Lesson 3: Use the stuck time to make some new friends πŸ™ƒ

  9. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for the wonderful drive. Always wanted to try these long range drives with you and couldn't have asked for a better experience - beautiful terrain, some nice technical dunes and criss crossing and awesome company. I just realized that i have completed 1 yr with team @Carnity and apart from all the goods we have already discussed across forum, key element that differentiate Carnity is the team. The playlists to match the drive theme, sharing of info about Long range desert group from World War II and man you went all the way to get the badge done...these are the things that transform experience into memories .thanks a lot for the same. Thanks @Jeepie and @GauravSoni for supporting the convoy..

  10. Big thank you to Alex and Angela @Foxtrot Oscar and @Alex Raptor. You were very patient and cooperative. Just an update. At the exit point on Qudra road. I think about 6 or 7 of our convoy vehicles either had a refusal or had to be towed out at the same time. This was post tire inflation. The road works there have probably loosened sand. Even as close as 2 ft from tarmac. It would be best to avoid that spot. But kudos to the team spirit as everyone helped out. Cheers.

  12. Drive report Thanks for joining this drive Sudhanva Sonawane @Sudhanva Sonawane Harshad Ashraf @Harshad Ashraf frederic demolder @frederic demolder Vishal Nair @Vishal Nair Shams Bin Majeed @Shams Bin Majeed Marcin Wronowski @Marcin Wronowski Goh KP @Goh KP munkybizness @munkybizness Rizwanm2 @Rizwanm2 Immense thanks to Rizwan @Rizwanm2and Mayank @munkybiznessfor supporting this drive. Having you was a reassurance that all was well in your watchful eyes. As you all drove really well , most of the issues were sorted with simple shovel and gear changes. Pajero guys need to sort your transmission heating lights, which come up especially when you push your car and in this Area 53 , you end up doing that due to the challenging terrain. And to add a skid plate or cover at the back so that the rear bumper doesn’t scoop a lot of sand which will invariably come off. More Info in the link below ( for transmission heating in Pajeros) Some more information on skid plates for pajero in links below Driver of the day was @Shams Bin Majeed accepting to do 2nd lead in the nick of time and driving really well. Great to see how you recovered from a side slope with simple shovel and manual β€œblip blip” crawl. @Vishal Nair used his 4L and diff locks to get out of situations , easily done. Hope you get your rear bumper issues fixed . @Marcin Wronowski did well except for a smallish dune cross, probably due to lack of momentum or the weight considering the passengers inside your car ( perfectly ok). Why I tell this is even a single extra kilo in your car matters as you progress in your drive levels, and you have to adjust your maneuvering/momentum accordingly. @Sudhanva Sonawane did well in his montero, hope you get your flag next time around. It is a mandatory requirement. @frederic demolder welcome back after a hiatus, drove really well considering the soft terrain and churned sands. It is all the driver matter behind the wheel and your experience did the trick for you. @Goh KP did well in his SWB pajero. You have a great car and with more drives and experience you will definitely become a better driver on sand. We learn with each drive @Harshad Ashraf was slightly shy of gas in earlier sections, but as the drive progressed you did well considering you were at the back. You all did really well in this difficult terrain, considering the soft sand and super churned tracks. Very nice to see your energetic smiles even when you have some refusals and stucks. Some more pictures uploaded in the gallery See you all some time soon.

  13. @TboneThanks for great drive! Loved the challenging dunes although the Jeepers convoy thrw us off course but that led to some great opportunity to unite and test the Max Tracks and our digging skills! In this drive we only reaffirmed that momentum is your friend in the soft sand. Made some good friends as well. Loving this club with such a supporting bunch. @Nizam Deen. @Daniel YangBig thanks to you guys as well keep us all together.

Difficult, soft sand and technical dunes that require confidence, composure and calculated driving to get through the difficult moments. Ideally we will complete the drive in Lisiali after making out way through the route over the high pressure gas line. It's not going to be an easy simple newbie - if that's what you wanted, sign out now and allow someone on the wait list to have your place. But if you stasy, it will improve your drive skills. See you soon in the sand.

  36. For me today was a discovery. I had never driven in that area before. @Islam Soliman When you first warned us of the challenge, I couldn't really expect what was coming. The tight high dunes looked impressive and wild at first. But the more you made us climb it the more confident I felt. As you said, it was gonna be demanding on the driver qnd on his car. But with focus, guidance and discipline I believe our convoy pulled off a very nice performance. A few refusals here and there - but probably expected in this terrain - and a very nicely mapped out route led us through iconic desert spots all the way to our exit in Badayer. Looking forward for the next one. @JeromeFJ you were were a great attribute for the success of this drive. Hope you sorted out all your bills πŸ˜… @Russ always there when needed, great support mate ! As mentioned by @Rawad we kind of grew up together in this passion, and the mutual respect makes our drives very soothing. Every Sunday when I choose my drive, I look at the list of joiners with a smile knowing I'll have a blast driving with you guys @Danish Mohammad @Chinthaka Ruwan @Sunil Mathew @Ranjan Das @Humayun Ghias PS : @Rawad thanks for the connector

  42. Hey @Tbone, @Nizam Deen, @Daniel Yangand team, thanks for the fantastic drive today! Every drive I learn something new... today was no different . I learnt that I need more discipline on my checklist and make sure I'm really ready to hit the sand... on the other hand I also learnt I could hold up to 1h drive in 2WD. If wasn't for a loss of momentum followed by a refusal, perhaps I woudn't have used 4WD today The drive went so well that I felt just like I needed to check the pressure on the next opportunity... Cheers folks! Have a great weekend, see you on the next drive.
