  1. Welcome @Vasja Zupan to the club. As you can see above comparisons between Fortuner and Prado, it is obvious, the answer is FJC

  2. Same here re- the Prado. Overall comfort (I have the Adventure model with all the options) is extremely high. Although calling it adventure and installing spoilers to make it a mall crawler doesn’t really make sense. I only once ever needed the Center diff lock. Normally 4H is enough, and the way power is distributed is more than adequate for rides. I removed the spoilers (hence the Dalmatian look) and installed a 10mm bash plate. But still split the front bumper taking a small dip a bit too fast. Overall could not be happier with my Prado. Luxury during the week and off road fun on the weekend. If you want to join me on one of the desert rides to see how it handles you are more than welcome.

  3. @Shaaz ShaFirstly thank you for backing up,it was my first drive with you but surely not the lastπŸ™‚,the first half of the drive was thrilling with amazing long range high dunes and technical ridges, the drive in the night was challenging but following your lead felt always confident @Ashok chaturvedi sir thank for sweeping and karak chayeπŸ™‚,for the rest of crew chin-up it was brave drive,i have shared few pics in the gallery.

  4. Prado has OEM rear locker, not sure from which GCC region but maybe not UAE. The previous Prado VXR I believe it adds KDSS and air suspension for greater comfort. But now I see only adventure GXR EXR trims available for 2022, you can refer to spec sheet for key differences in between. We need some opinions from Fortuner owners, its 0 - 10 for Fortuner so far 🀣 1 adventage of Fortuner I must add, Fortuner's peak torque happens 3800 rpm and Prado's 4400 rpm. Altho Prado has more power, but it weights more as well. Fortuner's engine may be old but not obsolete

  5. @Vasja Zupan welcome to the club and country, well i had the same question and but after speaking with lot of dealers and online research i bought a Prado(gxr 2022) ,i drove both of the cars, prado suspension and overall comfort is way better than fortuner on turn you feel more confident in Prado, prado engine is more powerful and gear ratios are improved compared to fortuner although they have the same engine, prado are always on H4 this gives better control while driving,i have been driving my prado for 4 months on road and off road it is always on H4,therefor i just simply deflate my tyres while driving in desert. You asked about rear diff lock, well it has center diff lock which is more than enough to challenge any terrain,i only use it incase im stuck (which is very rare πŸ˜€)the electronic 4wheel driving system is amazing in prado distributing power equally and at the right time when you need it, ground clearance is not any issue if your buying gxr,vxr has additional front and rear bumper lips and side skirts, they always have leather seats which are not recommended for offroad because they have heated and cool seat with some tiny holes eventually all the sand will be stuck in it The only modification i did so far is skid plate they come with 2mm i have installed a 8mm thick skid plate, not sure if i have missed anything but incase you have any more questions and need assistance you reach out to me πŸ™‚

  6. @Shaaz Sha thank you for a fantastic drive last night. The side sloping and bowls before sun down were incredible and I really enjoyed the fast pace. And then to experience my first night drive under a full moon was quite something. Finally - thank you for your kind words in the drive report. I am already looking forward to joining your drive in Sharjah on Sunday! @Ashok chaturvedi great support to the whole convey as sweep. Thanks πŸ™ I took a few pics and will post them in the gallery shortly.

  7. Hello..Thank you @M.Seidam for the opportunity to take over your drive and it was a fantastic drive. Every one in the convoy were deflated and ready when I reached the meeting point. After the briefing, we started slowly and cautiously since some changes in the dune formation, which was already informed to me by @Ale Vallecchi and @M.Seidam. After a few minutes of drive we were all set with the nature of the terrain and every one drove to perfection. We had to deal with a couple of stucks and thanks to @Ashok chaturvedi for the tugs and helps in recoveries and for sweeping the convoy to safety . Great job sir. Thank you @Santoso Marjuki for a perfect second lead. It was a pleasure meeting you after long time. You did a great job today buddy. . @FARAZ MOHAMMED did well today with his pajero and could see you ready for all the challenges. πŸ‘πŸ‘. @Alfred Alinazar..struggled a little bit at the beginning especially on the climbs and did great towards the end of the drive. Good job bro.πŸ‘. @Tom B man.. You were amazing today with you LC. Didn't seem to have any issues in conquering the track. πŸ‘πŸ‘. @Harshad Ashraf it seems like you are not completely in sync with your beast. You struggled at some points and had to re route...but its all ok and a few more drives with your LC will definitely give you more comfy drives. Keep up the spirit buddy πŸ‘. @Felix Obst..man you were incredible.. Did soo well on the side slops and it was a treat for the eyes.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘. @Waqas Parvez.. The prado boy. You did amazing today buddy. It was all churned up track for you..but drove brilliantly, Did excellent πŸ€πŸ€πŸ‘. It was a pleasure driving with all of you and hope to see you soon in the sand

  9. welcome to the club @Vasja Zupan, hopefully you will soon be welcomed to the prado club as well πŸ˜€. Prados are basically FJCs that come with family comfort. I have the 2010, have owned it for 8 years but still love it wether on or off-road. You dont really need to add an extra air locker, the central differential is more than enough if you get stuck i.e. if you ever need it as mostly 4L is good enough. I still drive stock except for the skid plate but like i said its basically FJC with added comfort and visibility (FJ Owners might get offended there 😝) so whatever mods you can do on a FJ you can on a Prado as well if you ever want to go that way.

  12. The adventure is basically the previous VXR (I believe that is what it was called) luxury model model year '22 with some extra trim, black wheels, spoilers etc. I picked it because of the the luxury items like the split climate control, sunroofs, bluetooth apple carplay, ventilated leather seats etc. - I wanted the luxury during the week and for longer road trips ...

  13. Even though both have V6 1GR-FE engine, they have different power output. Fortuner have 235 HP while Prado have 271 HP. But the weight difference may do the difference.

  14. I test drove a fortuner, Prado, LR4. On road, LR4 was best, followed by Prado then fortuner. I ended up going for Prado! Added bonus of the Prado is that many people get out of your way when charging down sheik Zahed rd! I trimmed the bumper and got a bash plate and enjoying the dunes. Depending on Prado age and model, wheel size will be 17 or 18 and if a newer one, 18 or 19. Try to get a model with the smaller wheels as will help to get better tyre footprint when deflated.

  15. Prado. Both capable doing offroad, but: 1. Prado is based LC platform, hence it is a way better "onroader" than the hillux utility pickup based Fortuner. 2. Prado is produced in Japan, you can always trust Japan made Toyotas' long term reliability and they tend to have highest resell value in market (LC, Prado, FJC), Fortuner is made in Malaysia if I am not mistaken. I owed a 05 Prado before, it ran better than my 10 Nissan Pathfinder with similar mileage. However, for Prado you will need to do some extra modifications/adjustments to the front bumper/skirting/bumper guard, because those lowered Car's approaching angle and can be damaged during offroading. Also Prado is more expensive than Fortuner.

  16. @Vasja ZupanPrado all the way. Most importantly is the Resale. Definitely there is a price difference and why should it not be? size, comfort makes the difference. The difference in Prado Variants is the tire size for GXR and Adventure with other features. If you are looking for the Prado 4.0 it should be as the fuel tank capacity is 150 ltr. If you are looking for any other Toyota. i would agree to @Hisham MasaadFJC is the best. Old but proven on-road and off-road.

  21. Welcome @Vasja Zupan ! There is a big difference between both. The Landcruiser Prado is a very capable off-roader but also a very comfortable family car. It has various options and they have very good resale value. The Fortuner is basically a Hilux with a body on top. This is a ladder frame SUV that’s not very comfortable and is mostly very basic in options. The strong point of the Fortuner is the Off-road capability and simplicity. In both models and you will be able to choose the 2.7 and 4.0 (V6). The 4.0 is definitely much more powerful and will give you more capabilities in the desert.

  22. You made it, bro! Looking forward to meet you soon! After the first newbie drive I thought, nice guy will never see him again (for the reasons you were describing) and shortly after that you came with these beefy skid plates and you were showing your muscles! Your learning curve was insanely steep! Congrats!
