  8. Dear friends Davie Chase JamesThorn Chris Wing MMansoor Charbel Joe Biju Joseph Anoop Nair Daniel Yang Arda Yagcioglu Rajiv Sam Good morning and welcome to this 4th special loop version , the DCT ( Desert Champion Trophy ) loop . Below is the link where details about the teams and the track of the winning team is depicted for more details about that event . The aim of this drive is ain’t breaking the champion time record more than to relive the experience of driving in such highly demanding terrain with total of 11 cars including my self along all the expected and unexpected stops and how to deal with it as fast as possible in a team as we always do . After more than 4 months passed to that event the desert has changed lately due to the wind blow direction pattern reshaping the dunes, ridges and the consistency of the sand below our tires . Having that said and according to the given situation I might alter the rout accordingly. Consequently the pace will vary depends on the terrain , obstacles and the drivers response. . the most important thing is to keep the focus and concentration to the highest level and abide all the time to the rules of desert driving that we all know it . stay tuned for further updates yet to come approaching the day before the drive cheers Seidam

  10. You guys had fun. Isn't desert dive like an obstacle course? Apart from driving, a lot of fun can be had from the recoveries. For both people involved in the recovery - to plan and execute a recovery or as spectators who either observe and learn or if it is a normal one then they socialize - fun, nevertheless. Making memories as we go.

  11. Hi @Looper, you are right. it took us almost 6 hours with around 2- 2.5 hour spent on a recovery towards end of the drive on a soft patch with an overhating car between a fence and sand wall. It was an epic recovery as well with 2 cars connected together with a rope pulling the stuck car with all cars on an incline. We started from Dubai around 4 am and reached back around 5 pm 😁 @Gaurav Soni @Ranjan Das

  20. Goodmorning All ! And thanks for signing up for this drive ! @munkybizness@Thomas Varghese @Mahmoud Taha @Ignacio Quindos@Danish Mohammad@Enrico Biscaro@Amr Paple@Quresh Pajero@Murtaza Bhuria@takeshi sobue@Zubair@george charbel For the ones who have joined us before on this type of drive, you probably know by now what to expect of it, but for the members who join us for the first time in this type of terrain, there are some differences to what you can expect from it. 1) This is not a dune-bashing drive, more a kind of exploration drive which covers a mix of dunes (some of them quite technical), and some farm-tracks as well. 2) This drives allows us more do some sightseeing of donkey's, camels, farms, and vegetation. In combination with the deep red sand this makes it perfect for taking shots with your camera. 3) We will be exiting in Falaj Al Mualla, a quiet town in Umm Al Quwain. Feel free to roam around after the drive and take some nice photos ! The overall aim is to have a great morning out in this terrain, and to focus on the scenic part of it, rather than to fly over the dunes. I hope you understand this makes it no less fun. Make sure to bring a flag, radio, and shovel. For every Newbie drives, that is needed and mandatory for being able to join. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask them on the forum here. For the waitlisted members, as soon as existing RSVP members sign out, you will be automatically added to the RSVP list. So keep an eye on it throughout the course of the week.

  29. Dear @Mark D As said by @Fredericgood question, not easy to answer. I went through many options, and found the most cost effective ones are the magnet ones. My car x owner used to use it, and I had to buy another phone cover to fix the metal plate, since metal and wireless charging did not work. When go in sand I just put the cover with metal cover. Another costly option and very strong, RAM mounts, I am using to hold the iPad 12.9in, and they have much more options for all devices. Unfortunately no much options in Amazon, but you can buy direct from USA.

  30. When joining Carnity Off-road Club, there will come a time that you’ll need to start looking for deflators, pressure gauges, compressors, flag, etc... Dragon Mart is a wonderful shopping paradise but finding the item you need is indeed sometimes a daunting task. So I listed below some shops and their locations that might be of help: Off-road Flag Section: EA Address: EA01 Shop: S&D Autoparts Deflator tool and pressure gauge Section: EB Address: EBD05 Shop: Taizhou Yian Trade Two Way Radio Lots of options, but the BA section has the most shops. Look out for the big CRONY labeled shop. They have the Motorola MT777 = 120 - 150 AED. Crony MT777 = 80 - 120 AED Also the Baofeng UV-5R is still popular and easy to find. Costs about 75 AED. Floor Jack & Tools JZX shop in section EA, no. EAA25 2 Ton floor jack with swivel neck = 120 - 150 AED (Recommended) Tool kit = 50-100 AED Compressor Mainly available in BA section. Have a walk and haggle a bit. The Camel logo brand is pretty good. Available in single or twin cylinder model. Single cylinder = 100 -150 AED Twin Cylinder = 150 -200 AED (Recommended) Please take note that we are not affiliated with these shops nor do we give any guarantees about their items. We solely provide the location where you can find these most common items to save your time.
