  6. Dear Desert Drivers, The drive of Saturday will an exploration of the northern part of Sharjah, up to Ras el Khaimah. If you have not yet been in this area, you will see that the desert is all but monotonous and empty. We will see different landscapes, different vegetation, camels and other wildlife, remote farms and small desert towns, with the view of the mountains in the background. Don't expect looping high dunes at full speed, it will be a crossing between the two Emirates, We will have portions of nice dunes, and we will use tracks and sabkhas to connect between them. Still all your skills and capabilities will be required as we will have to cross some high dune portions, the sand will be very soft in places, and we will have to keep the pace to cover the distance. @Richard Franks @Suresh K @Alfred Alinazar@Haitham Khattab @JERINE_B @Pacific @Adam James @Amr Aydin @Gerrit Bus @Indra Ozola @Tareck @Frederic are currently in the drive. I will be finalizing the convoy order tomorrow. Please let me know before 12 noon in case you changed you plans. We have a WL of 4 @Jose Thomas @Senthil Kumar @Ahmed Wagdy @topgear

  8. i seconds this, yes, you can live without rear difflock, probably you will have to sweat out a bit for some shoveling or fixing the rope etc. But if you have a rear difflock its luxury, with a flick of a button you are out of the situation. Also remember there are more situation where having rear difflock or having all the power or all the gadgets is useless and you have to use basic recovery skills to come out of situations. My advice, - Buy a car with good off road capability but learn the basics and master it thoroughly. Good luck with your purchase. 👍

  11. 4.0 Liter Fortuner could be a very good option offering a good balance for road and off-road needs. Except for the slightly excessive front bumper overhang in Fortuner, I don't find any flaw. If that becomes the bottleneck for your future off-road needs, you can lift or replace it with an off-road bumper.

  26. Ok small clarification for @GauravSoni and @Rizwanm2 what Lawrence meant for rear diff lock of Y62 is having inherited incompetence of not engaging when stuck in deep sand. I myself noticed in more than 10 occasions that Y62 rear diff lock doesnt work in most of the sand stuck situations unlike Pajero and Xterra rear diff lock always engage when you need it the most. In some cases I also noticed that Y62 was unable to move to low gear when in deep sand stuck, once recovered it moves fine to low gear. Seem electricry gadgets arent fully tested on sand.
