Dear Desertnauts getting ready for tomorrow's drive, let's state the obvious: it will be hot....the weather, and hopefully the speed at which we'll do our best to drive. Our main goals will be two: 1) make sure we handle criss-crossing at our best:; 2) once that'll be established, drive with stealth through mostly long range dunes, a few sabkhas, and occasional technical areas. Our target, will be first to reach Solar Park, and second, hopefully, carry on all the way to Qudra. The meeting and deflation point has been added to the drive's post: please come with a full tank, and deflate to as low as your tires' set up will allow, considering the height and thickness of their walls (low tires needing less deflation), but always not more than 13 PSI. Dear Sand Sailors Thanks for RSVPing for the drive. Hope you all are keeping safe from rising COVID cases as well as rising temp. I have been travelling and missed the last weekend on sand, so i am really looking forward to Sunday and to be back in desert. Action plan - plan for the drive is very simple. We meet next to Spicy village (will share the location soon) at 5am and with the first ray of sun we will enter the desert next to the cycle track. And then it will be all fast paced fun in the hot and soft dunes of Qudra - with lots of side slopes, criss-crossing and above all learn something new about our vehicles as well as our own capabilities as off-roaders, as we explore this nice area with possibility to enjoy some wildlife. We will be joined by master of self recoveries and hater of ropes, @JeromeFJ it's going to be a sweaty day at work..😂🥵 so be ready with your shovels. Important note - it's really getting hot and that means desert will behave very diff from what we have experienced over last 6-7 months - it will be soft and it will be hot. So please ensure you are well hydrated, have had good rest and have all your gear ready with you. Plus with rising COVID cases we will be following strict compliance to below 1) Wear a mask during the briefing, inflation, deflation and recovery. 2) Maintain a social distance of a minimum of 2 meters at all times. 3) Do not share any recovery or off-road gears. 4) Do not share any eatables during the drive. Dear Desert Drivers @Alfred Alinazar @takeshi sobue @Shahid Mehmood @Lucky sAm @Richard Franks @Daniel Rodas We will have a short convoy tomorrow, perfect configuration to go through the hot sands of Faqa. As you know from your recent drives, the sand will be soft, the temperature will rise very rapidly, we might have some wind... real desert conditions, but still good to enjoy a nice ride. Remember that momentum is key in these conditions, to keep your car moving and to "float" on the soft patches. The sand is soft, and soft shall be your driving. Avoid any sharp turn, sudden acceleration or breaking, keep your car moving, especially on ridges, or on flat soft pockets, and when you need to stop, do it as far as possible on an incline (downwards) or on hard surface. Also the slip faces will be even more slippery, so don't take any chance, go straight down, and avoid any situation where you will get stuck sideways on a steep incline. I will confirm the convoy order later this afternoon. Please let me know incase you change your plan. @Lucky sAm, please confirm which car you will take. Stay tuned for the next update !
