  1. Tazer JL Mini is a gateway bypass module that is connected to the SGW connectors in the Jeep, so the OBDII port is open, the mini is tucked in out of site under the dash and nothing lugged into the OBDII port. This device helps to re-program some aspects of the Jeep as well as change some features on the fly. These days it is available locally, but I have had a Tazer JL Mini since November 2021 & I bought my unit from Quadratec.com. Later I found it on Amazon.ae. for less than the cost of the unit on Quadratec.com and alas I overpaid for my unit as I not only paid for the unit but for courier and custom duties. Anyways, I have used it on my Jeep somewhat irregularly. The first time I used it during an offroad drive, it seemed to me that the computer on my car went haywire, upshifting regularly but perhaps it was just the heat (It was an afternoon drive in Abu Dhabi). But these days it is a lot more reliable for me. The Tazer JL Mini can be used for changing settings such as tire size, gear ratios etc. as well as enabling/disabling cameras, lights etc. Basically, if you change anything that needs an update to the onboard computer this can be used to make that change. See the user guide here for a full list of settings. After settings have been changed it can either be removed or left onboard the car. When it is left onboard it enables some live features. See the user guide here for a full list of live features. The ones I used a lot are: hold brakes at a red light activate backup camera when turn signals are used (before my head unit upgrade) TC Kill โ€“ turn off traction control, stability control and ABS and it maintains even when you move to 4 Low and back. Normally you must redo the "Disable Traction Control" plus 6 second hold to disable ESC. It also disables ABS which is not possible normally. There are some other features such as Winch Mode, Anchor mode, cool down mode etc. that are useful but haven't been used much. One important thing to remember is the Marrying and Unmarrying process that needs to be followed meticulously. In the JL Wrangler Forums and in YouTube videos they mention that this device needs to be taken off before sending the vehicle at the Jeep Service Center, but here they did not seem to care much. Now AMA about Tazer JL, perhaps I can answer.

  2. @Gaurav we deflated to 0Psi and kept the leaking part facing down, lowered jack then turned full right and left few times. It created a gap between the tire bead and rim bead sitting area which was enough to clean the sand by spraying water. @Mus_hus78 this was a different trip at Hammem towards Liwa 2 weeks prior to Moreeb drive. It was a warm up drive ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  4. An old story forever locked up within me! Today, I have decided to get this outstanding drive into words, still not being enough. Driving through liwa dunes every winter is always a pilgrimage journey for me, where I get the chance to explore more, and this time my plan was to pierce the proper liwa dunes. We had attempted the planned track twice before, which we were unable to complete due to reasons. This time, I had planned on starting from Liwa city, towards the moreeb dune where we can find one of the most tallest dune in the UAE and one of the largest hill climbs in the world. On reaching the moreeb dune, my further plan was to return back from where we had started. Returning back to the start point through the slip face was really challenging for me, but surely @Frederic made my plan much easier by sharing a track which helped me execute it better. "Thank you my Freddy boy" It was quite a short distance, around 70km, with extreme challenge being faced. I believe this track could be the maximum level of dunes which can be attained filled with number of pockets, bowls, sharp ridges and massive slip faces which is next to impossible to climb, and of course the unpredictable soft patches. The dune formation in Liwa is totally different from what we usually drive through. Climbing to the top of the dunes is really challenging, and once you reach to the top, the rolling dunes are marvelous, making it really enjoyable to drive on those sets of rolling dunes. We had a very short and sweet convoy @ShereenMK in his Land cruiser was my second lead promptly correcting the tracks whenever i had an obstacle. @Karthikeyan Govindarajan was behind him in his LC followed by @Mus_hus78 with his co pilot Khaleel bhai in his pajero and finally at the end @Rob H with his black panther tundra. I salute you all for driving in one of the most challenging dunes without a single stuck which is really commendable. It was a beautiful morning on February, 27th 2022 and @Rob H was the first one to arrive at the meeting point and he was waiting for us with deflated tyres and flag on. Everyone showed up after me and we all were set to go on time. After safety briefing and few tips from my previous attempts to cross on those monster dunes, we left to explore them. It was really challenging for me to lead the track and find a easy way out through the pockets and soft patches all over the track. I was the only one who got stuck and recovered 3 to 4 times. At one point, at the time of recovery I ended up with flat tyre and after inflating we noticed that the air was escaping through the rim bead. The challenge was to pop out the tyre to clean the sand. I learnt a new technic from @Rob H (Rob Harper) who is by profession a race car expert on how to pop out tyres without moving the vehicle. After a quick fix we reached moreeb dunes prior to the planned time. We all had lot of fun trying to climb the slip face straight up and exit straight down for almost 1 hour. After fulfilling our quench to play and having quick snacks we planned to drive back to the start point which I planned parallel to the track we went. It was really challenging to drive back through slip face but we did it and exited the drive on time by 3pm. It was a wonderful experience for me which is one of my the best desert drive and looking forward to drive in such terrains again. Salute to all of you for your support and for joining the drive and make my dream come true. See you all this winter - "LIWA Returns" And last but most important, would thank my daughter Zaina, who navigated me throughout the drive and has already started reading the dunes.

  5. Dear explorers i would like to make it clear . Itโ€™s an entirely new area that my self never drove in . And from studying the different maps the dune formation and sand consistency could be unpredictable from soft to super soft . In addition double slip faces of star shaped dunes are predominant in some spots which we try our best to avoid being trapped within . Sudden abrupt almost 90 degrees descent might be encountered . Risk is there sure and could be more than the usual . On the other hand there are nice dunes in the vicinity of few fenced and non fenced farms and reserves with multiple trees dispersed here and there . I have studied the area extensively before head and with the proper planing and with couple of experienced drivers I believe risks can be reduced substantially but not eliminated totally . I hope we will find the thrill what we seek in this area and reveal what is doable in the future visits to this part of the desert . canโ€™t wait to explore it together with great vigilance and enthusiasm . cheers Seidam

  6. This drive was a perfect end to a weekend. I am very fond of drives by @Ale Vallecchi, they are challenging at the same time they are meditative in nature. It was a smooth drive for most part, and we drove through some new areas that I had not driven before. @Pierre de Maigret at second lead, you were struggling a bit in the drive. Driving in the desert is counter intuitive at the start, and we need to practice changing the habits of the tarmac. With practice you will be able to come over the hesitation to give more gas in some cases when you need to and the tendancy to floor it when not required. @Dinesh Kumar A you were quite good with the radio announcing all the refusals as well as drove very well. Confident and in control of the vehicle in the technical areas. However, you found yourself close to the car in front of you a few times. Keeping a safe distance will help you see how the car ahead is doing as well as anticipating how it is going to do and stopping well in advance so that there is not more than one recovery when there is a stuck. @Sunil Mathew I saw you in the new Fortuner for the first time. I am sad to see you exit the Yellow Jeep Club. @Ignacio Quindรณs second drive of the week with you and you were quite impressed with your skills. Your winch came in handy today. Suggest you look up the best ways to re-spool the rope after every use and the duty cycle that needs to be adhered to. Warn has videos on YouTube on these topics. @Gurcharan Mehta this was my first drive with you and saw that you were quite adept at driving in the desert and handled the terrain quite smoothly. I have uploaded a few pictures I took in the Gallery

  7. Thanks all for the lovely response to the drive - is really very encouraging and motivating. And honestly added a bit of pressure of expectation as well, have I oversold it? ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ Also a bit curious if its the LOR or a Little Sweihan magic? Hope no one mixed it with Sweihan, Abu Dhabi. ๐Ÿ˜€ We have a long WL and as you can imagine surely canโ€™t extend the convoy to accommodate all. While I am evaluating options, seek your support as well. a. In case you are not sure or your plan is changing, please ensure you update RSVP at the earliest - surely wont be good that we lose a slot while we have 8 ppl in WL - with 6 of them having this as their only drive option for the weekend. b. For drivers Intermediate and Above, in case missed out, there is another Intermediate drive as well at same time and understand still has some slot open. Though itโ€™s a Abu Dhabi drive, starting point is just at border of Dubai-Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. So not much diff in alarm time ๐Ÿ˜€. Plus is a totally new terrain - not explored before by any of Carnity convoy. Accordingly, if you find it interesting, kindly review. Thanks again and will surely revert with some plan based on overall picture in couple of days and really looking forward to Sunday. ๐Ÿ™ @Rob S @Imteeaz @Beide Worku @Imran Kashif @Looper @Ranjan Das @Daniel Rodas @Gregory @takeshi sobue @Sam K @Senthil Kumar @Haitham Khattab @Amr Aydin @Mahmoud Taha @Tareq Al Turq @Chris Wing @salah2u @Alexanderrr@Salim Akhtar
