  2. Dear Fayah'ions @Luke K P @Aser @ChrisW @nithish468 @Talal H @Andrew John Melvill @Sandeep Nayar @Hani crest king @Alexanderrr ! Since I already see a well written summary from @Luke K P - All I would say is, was a very very well done convoy , which made me scale up and aim for the Technical patch right after our break, which again was very well managed by all of you ! Thanks @Luke K P for being the CF, that Chai during the break and handling those couple of refusals and @Alexanderrr for being am amazing SL, was good to see you again back in sand ! Thanks @Hani crest king for sweeping the convoy - and by the time you read this, perhaps you would have done one more convoy sweeping in Dubai ! and YES - YOU TOTALLY JUSTIFIED YOUR NAME IN FIRST 15 minutes of the drive - Infact you were soo infectious you passed it on to other truck in convoy immediately see you all in Sand soon ! Dear @Ishak - I appreciate and respect your decision of informing me for not being able to make it in time, and also not putting me in fix to hold the convoy as everyone else was ready to move - We certainly missed you but am sure this was not the last drive - will see you sooon again buddy ! Below the drive stats and track we took. The detour is where we headed towards the technical area That's a super fancy techie savvy picture ! Dint know they send with all such details ! My recent eyesight prescription too doesn't have details to this level

  3. That was really good fun - some nice technical practice, a few good ridges, and some (mis)adventures to learn from. Thank you @DP1011 for leading, and @Alexanderrr for giving me some good tracks to follow! Great support from @Luke K P and @Hani crest king too - thank you. I was very impressed with the on-the-drive coaching you all gave. I think the main takeaways for me were a reminder in the fundamentals of momentum driving on technical dunes (especially given the soft sand), and consistently applying the basics on ridge crossings (particularly being stable on the ridge before manoeuvring onward). It was also such a good drive that the AD police sent me a nice picture to remember it by… πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

  4. What a lovely drive! Thanks @DP1011 for guiding us in and out safely! We started on time after our briefing and basically just headed due east. A couple of early refusals to @Luke K P @nithish468 @Hani crest king and we started getting some good momentum towards the fox burrows and animal graveyard. We stopped off for a break of chai and croissants here before lowering tyre pressure and heading into the technicals. A text book cresting from our fearless leader allowed for some good V-channel digging practice and explanations on how to recover easily from this position. Next we had a double whammy of a bumper squish for @Talal H and pop-out for @Hani crest king After some reinflation and @Aser ducktapping the bumper back we made our way to the exit. Excellent driving from everyone, it was all pretty smooth and look forward to driving with you again soon. Enjoy your weekend.

  8. I dont think that's a fair conclusion tho... you're asking in a Carnity Forum but applying it elsewhere. Carnity Intermediate is not the same as other club's intermediate or experts. So what works here may not apply elsewhere, and it all depends on the car. Granted, you're asking for Jeep Wrangler, but when you're leading a drive, you get a sense of what works for the whole convoy, and the Seniors of Carnity have given that input by suggesting 4Hi. This I concur, all my 100 drives with Carnity I don't see a need to go 4Lo except to self-recover. Once when driving with friends outside this club, we did notice my friend's Jimny was struggling in certain climbs we're doing, so I asked his permission to try out his car and him in passenger chair. After various trials we find that the Jimny performs well in climbing with 4Lo instead of 4Hi, and his Jimny was a manual.... thus we have a combo where some ppl drove in 4Hi and some had to go 4Lo, whatever works for that individual driver... So all these 4Lo vs 4Hi just depend on the car and the kind of drives, no one formula for all kinds of drives and for all clubs everywhere... Jimny changing to 4Lo to get out of bowl

  9. Thank you @DP1011 for a great season finalΓ¨ (for me) drive. @Davie Chase really prepped me last week for Faya so this week was a breeze. Thanks @Aser for the duct tape! But no thanks for ruining my paint. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‘ but yeah "do you want your bumper or your paint" No thanks for @Luke K P for making me want a Ranger Raptor so bad now. Perfect product out of the box. Great follow by @Nitish Sharma through some sketchy drops. Shoutout to @Hani crest king for getting a pop out on a 6 am drive and still going to a 2:30 pm drive on the same day! Gunning to be crew rank in the fastest way possible. @ChrisW was a great immediate lead making everything look effortless in his beast of a Jeep. And huge props to @Alexanderrr and @Sandeep Nayar for the smooth operations.

  11. Without realizing it, from Motor City I took the road towards Qudra instead of Emirates Road πŸ˜… and I should have just continued. Yes @DP1011 see you on the next drive

  12. @Hani crest king recommend going to tyre shop having them take the sand out of your tyres. Will def need the front passenger side rebalanced. Esp if U had pop-out before and you getting vibrations on the highway, prob sand from micro soft pops in all wheels. πŸ‘

  17. Today when was inflating tires after drive @Davie Chase and @Gary F were shocked when I said 45psi, but I took that number not from fantasy, maybe wrong, but.. my previous tire size was 265/70r18 and new one LT285/65r18 So here pressure-calculator you can calculate, when you change tire how you should change pressure, on OEM tires it was 35psi, but on LT tires which are wider its showing 46psi equivalent

  18. @Josh S i think this has been answered before, I hope you're reading this and not skipping it 1. If any of your experienced friend or marshal in J.N. has Rubicon, they will have already swapped their transfer case from 4:1 ratio to the JL 2.7 ratio so they can drive Rubicon in 4Lo. Refer to table at end of post below. The higher the number, the higher the torque BUT less speed. The lesser the number the lower the torque but more speed. As mentioned in previous post, Santoso has changed his Rubicon transfer case, and though you see him as 50 drives only, he's a Senior (1 level below Marshal) in UAEO***. Complete Table of Calculated Drive Ratios between Rubicon 4:1 and JL 2.7 is at the end of this post, cos I have other solutions too and didn't want you to skip the maths 2. Another option: Grind your camshaft so it will change your torque & speed profile at higher rpm. This would increase your rev limit so driving 5000rpm feels like factory 3500rpm. 3. Another option: talk to a tuner and see if they can program the computer differently. Am not familiar with the Pentastar engine, but let's say if any of the ratio is hardcoded somewhere, you can change the constant of 4 multiplier to 2.7 multiplier electronically without mechanically changing stuff. 4. Stay incumbent in status quo: clubs like J.N. would put you last before sweeper so as not to slow down the experienced drivers in front TABLE of JL 2.7:1 Transfer Case vs Rubicon 4:1 Transfer Case Now because 4Lo is a gear reduction system, basically driving in 4Lo reduces your max speed, and the reduction is done via the 4Lo ratio, Rubicon Max Speed of 50km/h in 4Lo is due to Max Speed in 4Hi divide by 4: And here's a complete table of calculated drive ratios. Yellow means when Rubicon is driving 4Hi 1st Gear, it's equivalent to JL 4Lo 3rd Gear >> this is why JL peeps drive in 4Lo cos they have more "variations" before they hit cruising speed at 4Lo 8th Gear. Rubicon ideal sand gear is 4Lo 6th gear, but due to gear reduction max speed is limited to 50km/h. Only way to drive faster in 4Lo is to change transfer case to JL version. Cheers, Z.
