  1. Thanks for the fun drive yesterday everyone. Was glad the heat didn't rise to much and we could enjoy smooth flowing dunes. We made around 75km across big dunes, technical dunes, long range dunes, and some sabkhas. I have the average moving speed at 33.4 kph @Looper, so I think the high speed on the sabkhas helped move it higher πŸ˜… See you all again sometime soon.

Hi All, Due to recent heavy rain in the UAE and waterlogged conditions the desert terrain is currently tricky with muddy conditions, broken ridges, and hidden pockets, which isn't ideal for a safe adventure. 5. I travelled back to Dubai and landed at mid night and barely had 3 hours of sleep. But the love for dunes pulls me towards deserts. The initial section was a bit underwhelming for me, I wont lie - doing the same thing again in such a short time - I guess the wow factor was going to be missing a bit, but I think we more than compensated with a run across the dunes thereafter. Even during the technical patches between the Sabkhas we kept a fantastic pace. It was great to see so many of you showing up for the second instalment hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. The sand however was very bright in the eyes and I wasn't able to figure out the terrain much, even dark glasses did not help - yet the drive was lot less bumpy than previous. Thanks @Varun Mehndiratta for being part of the drive, your presence gave me peace of mind that even if I fail to join this drive - you would have taken over. @Ranjan Das & @Imteeaz thanks you both of you Support Team members for your help and well support. @Batuhan Kulac, @Ishak and @Luke K P see you once again for the drive. @Juan R see you once again after a long while. @Benjamin sorry to miss you. Been there done that, hope you have already fixed the issue. @msa, @Gertjan & @Shiju Raju hope to see you guys next time.

  6. Dear Desert Wanderers,, @ZakWarah, @Wilfredo Perez, @Mark B, @Aser, @Sandeep Nayar, @Nizar Shawwa and @Gary F Firstly thank you all for being on time this morning that meant we were able to get the briefing done and move off in short order enjoying more of the beautiful Fayah desert. We managed a whopping 53.6 KM's with a moving speed of 20kmph so once again well done to all You guys drove amazingly well with only a handful of refusals and one stuck that @Wilfredo Perez managed beautifully to self recover from/ so great job all and great driving you guys rocked it. Thanks @Aser for the great second lead, amazing job my friend, kept the right distance to allow quick changes in direction or to allow a hold for the rest of the convoy whilst i sorted myself out. thanks was sensational. @Gary F thanks for sweeping us today, amazing job for your first support drive, was not that busy but busy enough to keep you on your toes, great instructional commands from the back to allow those in front of your to learn as they drove. great job look forward to having you support one of my drives after my vacation. @Mark B superb job in the Center keeping everyone together, unfortunate that we had to exit you with some car trouble, but it is a jeep :), hope you get it resolved quickly and it does not break the bank, Great job supporting the drive today thanks and see you again soon. So drive stats and a relive video to enjoy below, and some pics in the gallery https://www.relive.cc/view/vRO7eAxoEKq

  7. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for another interesting and exploration kinda drive around this area. Second time here in as many weeks. We saw many interesting things and a couple of unfortunate ones like the Jeep that rolled over, thankfully he was ok and his friends were towing it out. With the terrain at times forgiving yet others weren't with very soft patches here and there and others we couldn't quite see well enough to know what was starring right at us because the sand was so bright. You did great getting us around the various fences and eventually over to see Sweihan Pond. We have to take what she gives and make the best of it sometimes, and we did a great job of it today. Good to see you again @Rob S and thanks for supporting the drive. It was a good team effort up there helping @Andrew John Melvill from that last refusal. @munkybizness I think we met on a drive last year or the year before. Thanks for sweeping our drive. As always, good to see and chat with you again @Marek. One new thing I learned today as I was starting my drive home. The car was wobbling and I went to the Sweihan petrol station to check my tire pressure and all was good. Felt too tired to bother hooking up my compressor again. Still wobbled on the way home so I stopped on the side of the road to have a better look at things and found about half the mud flat stuck inside my rims. I was loosening all that up when @Sreenath G pulled up to check on me, Thank you for that. πŸ‘ Have a look at all that sand from one tire...

  8. Hi All, @zak @Ahmed Farouk@Batuhan Kulac@DanielN@Jad Moussalli@Zed@Gary F@Anoop Nair Due to recent heavy rain in the UAE and waterlogged conditions the desert terrain is currently tricky with muddy conditions, broken ridges, and hidden pockets, which isn't ideal for a safe adventure. On top of that, many main roads are still blocked, and reaching the meeting point could be a dangerous and unnecessary endeavor. Hence, I am canceling this weekend's drive, look forward to seeing you all soon on the next one.

  10. It was great to drive with you again @Islam Soliman with you in lead and @Mahmoud Taha in sweep. After much time we finally met @M.Seidam and work together to recover a couple of stucks. A big welcome to the new joiners @SShan, @JanS, and @nithish468! You all did well on your first drive. Some had more practice than others at finding the sweet spot between just enough power and a wee bit short. πŸ˜„ Being one with our cars takes time, patience and practice. 14. @Ale Vallecchi thanks again for a fantastic drive in a stunning landscape! @Rob S and @munkybizness your support roles excellent as always, really appreciated the advice and assistance during my refusals and the stuck. @Emanuel was good to follow your impeccable lines again! Also had to remove tons of mud from my rims, felt like i had lost all my wheel balance weights! Also had to air up the right front twice on the way home. Workshop in dubai cleaned out a good bit of sand from between the tire bead and the rim! To everyone in the convoy, thanks for a really good morning. πŸ‘

  18. The statistics speak of themselves what a drive we had. We could explore a less frequently driven areas, see a fox in the desert; and have a fast exit just like last time. We had @Sunil Mathew who joined on this repeat of the drive from last time. @Ranjan Das and @Patrick van der Loo replaceing Pacific and Gertjan. Otherwise the composition of the drive was pretty similar - go to Nagra Hill - express hate on churned up tracks there and head back. Having said that the general pace was much better, we were able to find a lot more cleaner desert and obviously tried to have a lot more fun. more than the drive, I enjoyed our breaks and small talk. This is one of drives where we stopped to talk and not due to refusals. See you soon once again.

  19. My third time doing this drive and I still haven't have enough of it. This is the only place left in Qudra to drive and I like to post my second drives of the week here for a quick spin in the dunes. We did a lot more technical and a bit difficult one at that, as the convoy kept up to the challenge, I kept pushing. The key to driving here is to keeping focus and keeping your eyes and ears open to what happening in front. I must say that everyone did a great job. Unlike last time towards the end the side slopping areas were not that enticing anymore as green pastures keep encroaching into the desert. A BIG thanks to @Rob S for answering my plea for support and joining the drive irrespective of his other prior commitments. Considering that the drive was borderline Fewbie Plus @Andrew John Melvill & @Shaun J you did a great job. @Marek you were fantastic behind me at second lead. @Ishak you obviously know this area well and I must say to @Luke K P that I am guilty as charged in a short wheel based Jeep that can practically do 360 degree turns standing still - you did well to manage the terrain. Thank you all once again for joining the drive and see you soon once more.

Drive Plan : With the conclusion of Ramadan series, shorter duration drive, this drive is a technical drive, testing the skills of handling small technical dunes that the desert of Lisaili offers. 29. I had this happen twice back when I lived in Turkey. the water was past the door mirrors and I lost all hope when the car just sat underwater for nearly 3 days. Spoiler... it was fine at the end! most importantly don't attempt starting it. As long as it wasn't shaken around even though some water probably got in the intake, the manifold often acts like a toilet loop, preventing water from entering the cylinders. If you end up towing it make sure they reverse it on, with the front end pointing downwards always. Must keep water out of the block. water in the exhaust is fine. I'll be praying for you. Inshallah, it will be alright.

I have a two way radio, tire inflator, tow ropes but no flag. Looking forward to the drive. Jan
