  1. I see this everyday, people just start the engine and put in gear to drive immediately. Then there is a misconception from petrolheads I was reading on other whatsapp group, that in modern cars you don't have to wait. Now this information is too grey. What petrolheads is saying is right too but it doesn't mean that you start the car and move immediately. Let RPM drop to idle range in next 5-10 seconds and then you are good to go unlike in old cars where you should wait for 2-3 minutes. Killing this 10 second gap is enough to starve engine moving part without lubrication.
  2. This is so much eye opening for new car sellers and its good you explained everything in detail about carswitch selling experience to save time and money. As soon as I went to carswitch.com for first time, I started seeing ad in my gmail inbox, creepy. And how come No dealers margin involved, when they charging 2000-3000 dhs in commission. pretty lame and counter intuitive advertising.

  4. RTA Vehicle Testing is mandatory all across the Emirates in UAE. RTA vehicle renewal is a part of vehicle ownership in the UAE as well as many other developed countries, to check for faults that may endanger lives. There are several RTA testing centers in UAE, conveniently placed and open for long working hour for RTA test. Tasjeel is run by ENOC in Dubai, Sharjah and northern emirates with many Tasjeel vehicle testing branches. Shamil vehicle testing is run by EMARAT in Dubai and Sharjah with few testing centers. Wasel vehicle testing is run by BELHASA group in Dubai in Jadaf area. Adnoc vehicle inspection center is run by ADNOC in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and western region. Below is a list of tests performed during RTA Vehicle testing, along with tips to repair or prevent the issues: Vehicle identification: They will match your chassis number and registration. Emissions: They have three categories - carburetor petrol engine, fuel injected petrol engine, and diesel engine. Regular oil changes and visits to the mechanic will keep emissions under control. Braking system: Will be inspected for leaks, warped rotors, worn drums, squeaks, and performance. The handbrake will be checked too. Steering system: Checked for play. The couplings and joints must be in good condition. Visibility: This test checks the tint on your windows, your rear view mirror, and condition of the windshield glass, the wipers, and the washers. Remember to fill up on washer fluid. If you have rock chips in your windshield, you can repair it by filling it with resin. The kit is not cheap, but neither is a windshield. Lighting equipment: Examination of your high and low beams for position and brightness. Your headlight lenses must be clear as well. A yellowed headlight can be restored with some 3000-grit sandpaper and some polish. Running gear: Your vehicle axles, wheels, and tires will be checked. Most cars that fail this test either have worn CV joints or loose steering arms. Suspension problems can be detected easily by the sound your car makes when going over bumps. Put some lithium grease on your bushings to keep them flexible and last longer. Chassis and frame attachments: Any strut bars or braces, mounts, and the frame are inspected to ensure there is no structural rust or unrepaired accident damage. You can repair a rusted frame by cutting out the rusted parts and welding in uncorroded metal. RTA recommends that all aftermarket under body protection gear must be removed prior to the inspection. Key equipment check: Is your driver’s seat mounted properly? Your battery must be secured in position. All audible warnings that came with the car must be functioning as per GCC specifications. They will also check to see if you have your warning triangle in the trunk. Feel free to place the triangle in a more conspicuous place to help out the inspectors. Your seat belts would be checked as well.
  5. RTA Renewal is a mandatory process in UAE for all vehicles from private to commercial use. Vehicle Registration Renewal is mandated and conducted by the Road and Transport Authority (RTA). Vehicle renewal is a fairly simple and quick process conducted at multiple RTA Vehicle Testing Centres as a precondition to RTA registration renewal. Any new light passenger vehicle is registered for three years. After that, you have to get RTA car registration renewal every year. These RTA car renewal rules are in place to ensure that vehicles plying on the road meet emissions regulations and are safe to operate. This alleviates the negligence of vehicle owners in maintaining their car. RTA vehicle testing is a regular part of vehicle ownership in the UAE, but it can sometimes give you anxiety if you are driving an old cars. If you are well-prepared, you can make the entire process more convenient and quick. Since 2019 RTA offering an amazing service where you can get vehicle renewal online and get the new registration card by courier delivery. The basic sequence of events before you get the car registration card (Mulkiya renewal) are as follows - Complete the vehicle purchase formalities Apply for and obtain proof of car insurance Prepare your vehicle, get it inspected, then get the inspection passing report from RTA testing center. Documents required for RTA Car registration or renewal - Emirates ID Car Insurance Old vehicle registration card UAE Driving license Vehicle test passing certificate. The best way to avoid fines is to keep up with the dates. When does the expiration expire? You need to get your inspection done on or before that day, but only as long as you can immediately get your registration. If you fail the test, you will have to pay a re-test fee and get your car repaired. Hence, if you have an older vehicle and have been delinquent with some oil changes, give yourself enough time to get the car to a mechanic or fix it yourself before going for inspection. You just can’t drive your car if you’ve failed your inspection and run out of days in your registration card. Even if you are within the 1 month grace period, the fine for driving without valid registration is a whopping AED 500. Not just that - the car will be detained for a week. The best way to save money is to not pay fines. All the components of your car will be inspected during the test. The brakes and handbrake will be checked for their proper and acceptable working. Emissions testing will be performed as well. Make sure your car is otherwise clean and shiny and remove unnecessary things from the cabin. The test for light passenger vehicles costs AED 170, and usually takes 15 minutes. Heavy vehicles inspection will take a few more minutes at the inspection center. These and commercial vehicles have a more comprehensive checklist to clear. Here are the few popular places for car passing in UAE - Tasjeel vehicle testing - Dubai, Sharjah and Northern Emirates Tasjeel vehicle testing centres offer chassis testing and comprehensive test plans, but they will drive up costs. Wasel vehicle testing - Dubai Shamil vehicle testing - Dubai Adnoc vehicle inspection centres - Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western region
  6. Obesity From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigationJump to search For the medical journal, see Obesity (journal). Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to an extent that it may have a negative effect on health.[1] People are generally considered obese when their body mass index (BMI), a measurement obtained by dividing a person's weight by the square of the person's height, is over 30 kg/m2; the range 25–30 kg/m2 is defined as overweight.[1] Some East Asian countries use lower values.[8] Obesity increases the likelihood of various diseases and conditions, particularly cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, certain types of cancer, osteoarthritis, and depression.[2][3]
  7. Well to support 30% obese why penalize 70% non-obese? Obesity is more a medical condition and little of self control. They should look into making obesity medicines, therapies and yoga classes for free or discounted rate than making a blanket rule IMHO. Next will be - All gluten based product will get tax means everything on shelf will be expensive. This is not like cigarette and alcohol - that it will impact only smokers or regular drinkers.
