  14. Infiniti’s first venture into the compact SUV sector with the EX35 has been rather successful. The EX35 was introduced in 2008 and has cemented itself as a sporting alternative to the like of the Nissan Murano. It uses the same basic platform as the bigger FX crossover SUV and G37 compact executive and essentially bridges the gap between Infiniti’s more sober sedan models and the aggressive FX SUV. With a 3.5-litre V6 providing power to all four wheels via a five-speed automatic gearbox, the EX is quite a sprightly car to drive around. The four-wheel drive system is intelligent and can shift power between the front and rear axles depending on the conditions under the tyres. In really extreme situations, it can send all the power to the rear wheels alone. Like all Infinitis, the EX majors on technology and one particular feature of note is the Around View system. By using small cameras that are places in the front and rear bumpers and n each of the side view mirrors, when selecting reverse a 360-degree view of the area surrounding the EX is displayed on the large colour screen in the centre of the dashboard. This makes parking manoeuvres as easy as they could ever possibly be – short of letting the car park itself, which it doesn’t yet do. The EX35 was also the first Infiniti to feature the company’s ultra-clever scratch shield self-healing paint, which removes any small surfaces scratches in the paintwork on its own. It’s a really clever bit of thinking. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-infiniti-ex35/
  15. Even in the world of crossover SUVs, there really isn’t much out there on the road that’s as overtly aggressive as the Infiniti FX. With piercing headlights – modelled on a bionic cheetah of all things, dark chrome grilles and deep-cut vents in the front arches this is a SUV you mess with at your peril. And it’s even got enough bark to go with its visual bite. Two engines are offered – the 3.5-litre V6 as found in other Infiniti and Nissan products, and a 5.0-litre V8. It’s the bigger engine that suits to the character of the FX the best as it makes best use of all 390bhp on offer. The four-wheel drive system is set up for sporting driving characteristics and can adjust the power split between the front and rear wheels at any time on the move up to 100 percent to the rear wheels. There’s loads of kit on offer too including some clever active safety technology such as Intelligent Brake Assist which will intervene and apply the brakes automatically if it senses that the FX is going to hit the car in front and the driver hasn’t reacted accordingly. There’s also an intelligent cruise control system, which amongst its many talents stops you from tailgating the car in front. This SUV is really not destined to ever spend its time with gravel or rocks under its low-profile tyres. Nope, the motorway and sweeping roads out in the lesser populated parts of the Emirates are where the FX is much more at home. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-infiniti-fx/
  16. Think of the G37 as a more luxury-focused version of the Nissan 370Z as they are essentially the same car underneath the unique metalwork. They share the same basic rear-wheel drive platform, the same 3.7-litre V6 engine and the same seven-speed automatic gearbox. However, they are set up in two distinct manners – the Nissan Z being the more sporting of the two. That’s not to say the Infiniti loses out on the sporting side of things – far from it. Where the Infiniti does score points above the Nissan though is in the practicality stakes – the G37 Coupe is capable of seating four (at a pinch), whereas the 370Z is just for two. The longer wheelbase needed to fit people into the back of the G37 Coupe means that the Infiniti isn’t quite as sharp as the Nissan to drive, but overall it’s still a cracking drive. Some of the key features that helps the G37 to stand out from other coupes include the optional four-wheel active steer system. At high speeds, the rear wheels turn against the angle of the front wheels in unison with the steering wheel being turned – this helps the G37 turn sharper around corners. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn the same angle as the front wheels aiding manoeuvrability. If it all sounds a bit complicated to get your head around, don’t worry. All you need to know is that it works rather well indeed. As do the four-piston performance brakes which are standard fit. Inside, there’s plenty of high-end technology including an excellent 3D sat-nav system, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a Bose stereo system. In addition to being offered as a two-door Coupe, the G37 is also offered in convertible form with folding metal hardtop roof and as a four-door sedan. 17. The 2011 QX is an all-new full-size SUV from Infiniti that offers space, luxury and power. Based on the latest model Nissan Patrol, the new QX is longer and wider than its predecessor and comes with a 5.6-litre V8 engine that produces 400bhp. The gears are shifted by a seven-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels. Infiniti claims the new engine returns a 12 percent improvement on fuel economy over the previous QX, despite a hike in horsepower from 315bhp. The four-wheel drive system can be set to Automatic, which deploys torque to the wheels that need it most according to the conditions, or to high or low ratio settings for off-road use. 2011 Infiniti QX The new chassis is, Infiniti claims, stiffer than the last model with reduced vibration on the move for enhanced handling and comfort. A Hydraulic Motion Control system is designed to reduce body roll through corners. The QX comes in two specifications for the Middle East. Both the Excellence and high-end Luxury grades come with either eight or seven seats, depending on whether you choose to have a second row bench or individual captain’s chairs. Standard features on all models include satellite navigation, leather seats and a 13-speaker Bose sound system, as well as Bluetooth phone connectivity and three-zone climate control, a powered rear tailgate and a sliding moonroof. 2011 Infiniti QX Connectivity for iPods is included in all cars, as is a rear-seat entertainment system featuring two seven-inch monitors. On the outside, massive 22-inch wheels are standard. Technology includes a blind spot warning system, adaptive front lights and the Around View Monitor system, which displays an aerial view of the vehicle and its surroundings while manoeuvring. A lane departure warning system is featured and the Luxury models feature adaptive cruise control. Front, side and curtain airbags are all standard, as well as LATCH child seat fixing points. Prices at the time of writing ranged from 209,000AED to 310,000AED. 2011 Infiniti QX Price (AED): 209,000AED – 310,000AED Engine: 5.6-litre V8 Max power (bhp/rpm): 400/5,800 Max torque (Nm/rpm): 560/4,000 Transmission: Seven-speed automatic Weight: 2,710kg SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2011-infiniti-qx/
  18. If it’s a big SUV you’re after, then you can’t really do much bigger than the Infiniti QX56. At over 5.25 metres long, over two metres wide and nearly as tall, the QX is essentially one massive great box on wheels. A pretty heavy box at that as the QX tips the scales at over 2500kg. Thankfully, the 315bhp 5.6-litre V8 is more than man enough to get the big SUV moving – if only the brakes were quite as effective at slowing it down afterwards. As you can imagine for something so large, the Infiniti QX isn’t really a sporty SUV – it majors more on the Utility side of things. Naturally, there’s quite a bit of space on board with seating for seven people and plenty of room for their paraphernalia. Unlike the other SUVs in the Infiniti line-up, the QX is capable of handling itself on tricky terrain – after all, underneath that brash exterior lies a Nissan truck chassis. There’s even a low-range setting on the four-wheel drive selector dial. It doesn’t have any clever off-road terrain systems that you might find in a Land Rover though. The QX is fitted with self-levelling air-suspension to ensure it maintains its ride height regardless of the load on board which also helps keep control of things in off-road situations. Parking sensors are standard fit which helps when trying to manoeuvre this big ship into a narrow parking spot. An all-new Infiniti QX is scheduled to go on sale in the Middle East before the end of 2010, and will use the 2010 Nissan Patrol as its base. SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/2010-infiniti-qx56/
  19. The 2011 Infiniti M is the brand’s alternative offering against the more established mid-level executive cars on the market such as the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6. After selling the previous model since 2003, Infiniti has developed from the tried-and-trusted platform for the new generation car. One key improvement on the 2011 car is the all-new 5.6-litre V8 which will give the Infiniti M a much needed performance boost as it chases the performance benchmarks laid down by its Germanic trio of rivals. With 402bhp, it’s considerably more powerful than the previous range-topping M, the M45. The same car in the US has 420bhp, but the engine has been remapped for regional fuel quality, hence the small drop in power. Those who aren’t looking for over the top performance might be better off with the entry-level Infiniti M37 which comes with a 328bhp 3.7-litre V6 engine. The Infiniti M has been styled with a much more aggressive edge than its European counterparts, so be aware that the M is not for shy retiring types. Helping the driver harness all the available power in the best possible manner, the M features a system called ‘Infiniti Drive’ which has four different settings for the throttle delivery and power mapping. Naturally, the keenest of drivers will select the Sport mode whenever possible. Luxury has always been an Infiniti’s strong point and the M looks set to deliver on that promise even further than it ever has done before. The cabin has been crafted to put the driver at the centre of the action, and there are high-quality soft-touch materials used throughout to ensure all those on board – it’s a comfortable four-seater – are kept happy. When not enjoying the V8 engine under the sharply styled front end, you can enjoy the sound of the specially-developed Bose stereo system. There are three versions of the M37 available – Excellence, Luxury and Sport – and two of the M56, Luxury and Sport. Price (AED): 184,000 – 239,000 Engine: 3.7-litre V6 // 5.6-litre V8 Max power (bhp/rpm): 328/7,000 // 402/6,000 Max torque (Nm/rpm): 363/5,200 // 565/4,400 Transmission: Seven-speed automatic Driven wheels: Rear wheel drive Kerb weight: 1,972kg // 1,905kg SOURCE: http://automiddleeast.com/201-infiniti-m/
