  1. I just figured that noise is coming from the AC blower. The noise dissapears if you change the mode to change the air flow to your foot. I am not sure what is causing this, will have to get it checked with KIA.
  2. Hi, Did anyone experience this before..I hear knocking sound as if the CD changer is trying to change the CD continuosly in Kia cadenza 2011 . This is hapenning irrespective of I play the CD player or not. I am planning to take it to Kia this week, but not expecting any help from them.
  3. Not using the Handbrake will put load on your gearbox, especially when parked on the inclined or declined surface. Always apply your handbrake first and then engage in to parking mode. This way you will keep your gearbox healthy. Ignore the noise for a while. Notice that if you don't do the above and when you engage in Reverse gear it engages with some stifness and jerk. try doing the above and see how smoothly you can engage the reverse gear when you have applied the handbrake prior to Parking gear.
  4. Finally!! Just got my Cadenza back from the workshop almost after a month. God!! it feels so good to be back in it. I was renting Sunny and some times Accent all this while. So you can Imagine how I must be feeling... beleive me you only value your stuff when it is gone. I realised so many aspects of Cadenza in this last one month while driving these small ones. It feels as if I am driving it for the first time again....the power, ride, the brakes and all the luxuries feels so good. Thanks to Almighty!!
  5. Hi, Just got my Cadenza back from the workshop almost after a month. God it feels so good to be back in it. I was renting Nissan Sunny and Hyundai Accent all this while. So you can Imagine how I must be feeling... beleive me you only value your stuff when it is gone. I realised so many aspects of Cadenza in this last one month. I asked the guys to change the brakes, but this was after 35k, and now the brakes feel very strong just as you described your feeling for Optima. I think the factory fitted pads had some issue, because I didn't get this same feeling when I drove it for the first time. The Brakes have improved significantly. I am no driving more confidently and also pushing it hard on the corners yet able to stop quite well without ABS intervention. Prior to changing the brake pads ABS would intervene sooner than required, this was little annoying. I suggest you ask guys to change your brake pads (front only) and I am sure you should feel some difference. All the best..
  6. I happy that your issue is resolved. I realize how annoying that can be, and when I knew the root cause I was thanking my lucky stars that it was not the suspension. I think we can get rid of the noise if we ask the guys to spray some WD40 when go for regular service. As far as you brakes are concerned can you tell me which car you were driving prior to Cadenza? I am just wondering if you are used to ABS with EBD because it makes the braking experience quite different. I have often heard guys complaining of brakes when they shifted from conventional brakes to ABS and EBD. I am sure you are aware, but there are some simple guidelines on using ABS. http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/roadsafety/tp-tp13082-abs2_e-215.htm After reading this try to test your brakes accordingly, but do not test at high speeds as it might wear off your tires and you may have to change them. Let me know your feedback....
  7. I am still waiting for the ECU unit to arrive. Apparently it was not available in Dubai as well and they had to order it from Korea. Its been almost 20 days now. I hope they will receive the part this week. No doubt, I am already paying a heavy price for the car wash. I hope all cadenza owners benefit from my experience and pay extra attention during car wash.
  8. Cadenzawhite, You have mentioned "suspension" above. Is that a typo?
  9. cadenza white, The creaking sound from rear suspension is actually coming from your Hand brake spring. Notice that you will not hear this sound when the hand brake is not applied. This sound is ever more evident when people are getting off from the rear seat. You can also reproduce this sound by pressing the very rear of the boot while the hand brake is applied. For your alignment issue, go only for computer wheel alignment. Hope that will solve the issue. How about the vibration? is it still evident? As far as the brakes are concerned I am also not very happy with them. I have done 35k and have asked them to change the pads and I hoping that there should be improvement. regarding the down shift I have noticed this issue in my car as well. There is massive jerk when the car is down shifting from 3 to 2nd gear, but this only noticeable when you are crawling in traffic. I am not sure how to get this fixed, and I am not expecting KIA to help me out on this, especially in Saudi arabia. I went to Kia couple of times myself trying to figure out the issue, but they couldn't help me. I was lucky that I discovered this issue on my own. I hope I am talking about the same issue and this solves your mystery.
  10. I went for a full car wash and asked the guy to wash it only from the bottom. However, they also washed inside the Bonnet. When I came back to take the car the Engine malfunction light was glowing. The car started and the RPm wouldn't go over 3000 mark. I came to my home and left the car for drying thinking that the water will eventually dry up. Unfortunately when I started the car late in the evening it would'nt start and the warning light was still glowing. I called the guy from Kia who did a complete check and tried to blow the water from various locations, which didn't help. He evetually advised me to take the car to KIA workshop and get it checked on the computer. I had to take the car on the Vinch to only know that KIA wouldn't even check it for another 4 days. I left my car with them hoping that they will fix the issue. I am suspecting that water has gone inside the ECU. Did anyone else had a similar experience? I will keep you updated on the progress made by Kia.. In the end its a lesson learnt never let anyone wash your car inside the Bonnet. other wise it will trun out to be a very expensive car wash....
  11. I don't know about the DVD player, as I do not have a full spec. As far as central locking is concerned you can set that through your trip meter. Go to Vehicle maintenanc options and select auto lock. The car will lock all the doors as soon as you engage the gear in "D" and unlock when you put it back in "P". Check the user manual for more details.
  12. Finally I have upgraded my tires to hankook Ventus Me01 and I have gone for 235/55/R17 instead of 225/55/R17. The grip has significantly increased and car is more stable with better ride quality. However, the torque steer has also increased a bit, but I realised later that air pressure was @ 40PSI, after reducing to 32 there was a significant decrease in the Torque steer. In the end I am now more convinced, but could have acheived more with Bridgestone potenza re11 or the Dunlop SP sport maxx. I hope my reviews are beneficial for users willing to have a more refined ride quality from their Cadenza's.
  13. Kia Cadenza Long term review: I am sure a lot of people must be waiting for the long term review of cadenza, because I was also one among them last year. I bought my cadenza last year in feb 2011, almost a year and thought it will be a good time to post my comments.Ok lets get started!! I will categorize each aspect and give rating of 1-10 for each of them Looks—–> 10/10 One of the best looking sedans in this category I always turn around heads while driving in Riyadh. Space/comfort—-> 10/10 Quite big both from Inside and outside. Amazing boot space. On my way to Bahrain I carried 3 suit cases and 2 hand bags and lot of other stuff. The boot is also capable of carrying long objects like Golf sticks. Luxury—>9/10 Every one can see this in the specification so I don’t need to reiteriate. All I want to say is that all options are same as full options LS E350 or may be more. The ambience of the car especially during night is amazing with beautiful mood lighting all over the cabin Sound system—>8/10 One of the best sound systems I have heard. though I am not driving the full options, the dimension system I have comes with amazing bass and surround effect. The system is simple to use with options of USB, Ipod, Iphone and 6 CDs. Technology——->8/10 Things like Hydrophobic wind shield, rain sensors, automatic folding of side mirror, rear view curtain, drivers seat automatic adjustment with entry and exit, trip computer, rear view mirror and so on.. most of the mentioned above are not ther even on Honda accord and the competitors of similar category. Even if they are it is twice as expensive. Power—-> 10/10 The only car which can beat candenza in this segment is Nissan Maxima, which is 310 BHP. I have beaten Charger (v6), Toyota avalon/aurion, Honda accord and many more.. Handling/braking—>6/10 Kia has done justice to the Power of the car by not giving good handling. I think the root cause is cheap nexen tyres, which tend to loose the grip too easily. However, Kia has rectified this in 2012 by fitting them with hankook ventus V12 (Ultra High performance tire). I hope the handling and braking improves. The over all rating of Car is 8/10 and for the amount of money you pay for all these options will compensate the missing two points
  14. Thanks Jin!! That's what I was planning to do however just wanted an experts advice. How about the 2012 model which comes with hankook ventus v12 235/45/18. I expecting someone with these tires to comment as well!!
