I remember yammi from now defunct D4x4 had a KJ and it did pretty well although he was pretty rough on it and didn't treat it very well. I remember it didn't have a recovery point in the front so had to get one fabricated for him at our shop The new one more squarish one didn't too well on a test drive. To be honest never seen the KJ is capable hands to pass a solid judgement on it. I think that's also a big factor. I've seen all sorts of vehicle do well in capable hands and even good cars in not so capable hands struggle and suffer. So it's all relevant. And nowadays very confusing with so many cars available on the cheap you are spoiled for choice. I think a very reasonable choice would be the Nissan R50 between 02-05 But hey unless you want to be different and want to experiment a bit. No harm in trying It's only money!

The surprisingly got it back again when I went to register another range rover after a few months. Funny story is a guy registered a Bentley GT one step ahead of me and got a real shit code and number. I'm always willing to give new a chance. And hopefully with the twin turbo setup the low end torque and turbo lag issues are also solved . But still the mind falters with such puny displacement of only 2.7 trying to pump out 300 plus horsepower. Questions about longevity and reliability arise. Other than diesels never heard of high mileage and reliable turbocharged engines.

There should be a law that mandates all 4x4s have the same approach and departure angle. What good is a high departure angle when you are are going to drag you bottom.

To be honest I don't have much faith in squeezing out so much power out of a tiny motor via forced induction. First of all it's adds unnecessary complexity to already complex modern engines. Second when running at the borderline of its peak performance don't think it will last too long without big repairs. Thirdly already mentioned turbos and this environment of extreme heat and fine sand. Turbos run on very small tolerances. Any dirt or sand getting into the turbo vanes and it's bearings will just wear them away quickly and they are very few cases where they can be repaired and replacements are always expensive. Also I dunno why more people don't opt for super chargers instead?

Forget about unless you are doing monster lifts stock length is good enough And in the desert really doesn't matter too much anyways. Only for rock crawling where you need to have all 4 wheels planted to the ground at all times.

Fuck ! That thing is ugly as sin. US spec means flood damaged or in a crash bad enough that it was written off. Plus 195k miles that's 300k plus kms. Also be weary if rust on these US imports. My buddy once bought a TJ US spec right when the container opened after arriving here. It has been in a slight tip over which cracked the hardtop and a front fender slight bent. But was it a pain in the ass. First of all almost impossible to find a hardtop anywhere. And we found a slightly less damaged repairable one for 4000 plus Then while slowly driving around 30k the rear axel just popped out for no good reason. Then almost impossible to register because frame had rust and the VIN number had rusted away So all in all a massive shit experience but then again nothing else can be said about jeep ownership.

All I can say is finally a car which is designed from the ground up with serious off roading in mind and serious offroaders it's target audience. Seems like you can take it straight from the showroom floor for a heavy dune bashing session with 0 mods required. Although how it wears in these hot desert conditions is yet to be seen and turbos are a bit of an issue long-term in this fine sand. But I do expect to see them in the desert here as soon as they arrive and if it works like it's supposed to, be massively popular too Obviously there are going to be issues with the 1st and 2nd year models as they step in real world usage a few recalls some updates, niggles here and there. Would loved to have seen a proper V8 version but Ford has save for the Mustang abandoned the V8, stupid decision if you ask me.

No wonder it was so cheap, tundras are very popular here and you'll be hard pressed to find one below 40 ish for a 07+ They do come in 4x4 just the one you are looking at is a 2wd. I think Jamez also had a tundra for a while and bashed it everywhere. Also if you like big vehicles like me have a look at the Sequoia ( station wagon version of the tundra )and the Armada both also 5.7 V8s very bowarfull and sborty also Although Sequoia holds it value But Armada is cheap as chips nowadays.almost throw away prices. Actually most big V8s are save for cruisers and patrols you can get a pretty late model in very good Nick for 25k. And they are mostly GCC spec. But rarely you'll come across a US import which is 2wd

That's exactly what I said, absolutely nothing wrong with it if done correctly and with patience. Actually I was surprised when I first started to drive with clubs to see this insistance of pulling straight ahead or back even when the terrain did not allow it or it was just much simpler and more safe to just give a slight pull from an angle.
