  3. @Pickey Singh next time we meet, I'll install google maps on your phone with quick 1-1 session to navigate. I remember we use to have offroad navigation session for new Intermediate drivers, now we can add road navigation too in that. You can easily replace Fredy availability with that in 5 minutes.
  4. Adding metal bumper is whole lot another story from 20 kg - 100 kg depending on need and choice. I really doubt that you cannot fit winch in stock bumper, as FJC Stealth comes with plastic bumper and winch option. I manage to squeeze TJM 9.5 ton winch on 6mm plate sandwich between the chassis in my dinky Pajero that has notoriously cramped engine bay. If you really want to do something you will find a way.
  5. Look who's talking........Bla Bla Bla, oh no bla bla bla.
  6. First of all big thanks and congratulations to everyone who participated in this historical drive of 36 cars sign up and 32 cars turn out, marking the biggest convoy we have ever had in Carnity. Last record was of 30 cars but technically it was a family trip and not an off-road drive like this one. Second, big round of applause goes to @Srikumar, @Frederic and @Asif Hussain in managing tons of duties and supporting every little detail to the perfection with sound planning behind the scene to make this drive a great success. Third, congratulation goes to @Frederic for his first independent newbie lead under Srikumar supervision, which he passed on flying colors earning his much deserve Marshal rank. @Wrangeld you actually made my morning, when you ask me if you can ride with me. It was a great opportunity to share lot of professional details and the past of Carnity with an avid off-roader and like minded enthusiast. Just like everyone else, I truly love your trip report and look forward to read it actually few times to appreciate how much time and effort you must be spending behind each expression to sound it so perfect, every time.
  7. Only if its sagging, but OP mentioned stiff.....!
  8. I agree with @Frederic that spring get sag overtime and not stiff. Secondly springs have less to do with ride smoothness, as that is the shock absorber job unless you were using the heavy duty stiff springs from previous owner in first place. Why do you suspect that rear shocks are stiff, because that is first telltale sign of shocks failing either they get too stiff or go full soft and make ride bouncy. Better get a second opinion on rear shocks from another mechanic and also do the bounce test by yourself in front (with new shocks) and rear (with older shocks). They both should be reasonable same or front should be a tad less bouncy than rear, due to the engine weight in front. Even if you have to change rear shocks, don't feel bad as usually that's a best practice to change all 4 shocks in one go to have better ride quality and distributed load for all shocks than old ones getting more beating than the new ones.
  9. Congratulations @Frederic for reaching the Marshal level with Carnity Offroad Club. It is one of the most prestigious and sought after title that comes after a lot of hard work, patience, tolerance, and dedication. Just like all the levels in Carnity offroad club is "NOT" only based on driving skills but instead based on the combination of your personality + intelligence + team spirit + adventure. This Marshal title is an epitome for all levels in the offroad grading structure. So if anyone wants to grow, they can set any of Carnity Offroad Club Marshal as a PERFECT example for not only following the driving skills and style but also observing their behavior, teamwork, presence of mind, calculative approach, patience and tolerance to teach and support new offroaders. Frederic has been one of the fastest learner I have come across in my 14+ years of offroad experience from more than 1,000 offroaders I must have trained at family, friends and various clubs level in UAE. And yet he is very humble, helpful and courteous to everyone around. Frederic second best quality is his sense of humor to crack the toughest of situation with a laugh that helps everyone to come forward to join and contribute with a smile and positive spirit. Third is of course his generous contribution of Belgian Chocolates Once again congratulations Frederic and best wishes for your next adventure! 17. Welcome to the real world. Garages, mechanic and even service advisors are "TRAINED" to make you spend the maximum amount in one-go. Thing that he mentioned is 1% right, but how he said it, it will influence anyone without any previous experience. Take a measurement of front and back space before winch installation and then check again after the winch installation and I can bet you can see the difference in few mm, not even 1 CM. Which is hardly negligible and no action require for your level of drives. Even better, open the hood, drop 40 kg gym weight inside the engine bay, close to the front and measure it. Spread it 20 - 20 kg on each front side fender and see how much spring drop. Even if your FJC suspension is old and dying then simply replacing to OEM two new springs or get two heavy duty springs in front can easily fix this entire drama within 500-600 max without changing the whole suspension or adding lift kit.
  18. Good to hear that GM officially made an announcement too. Well done GM. https://www.gm.com/masthead-story/hummer-electric-truck-ev.html
  19. 1 day - 10 Million views Pontiac Fiero with rocket engine, magnetic stealth plane and hope for justice. This seems more promising than the last one, that fail to check many boxes for car enthusiasts.
  20. Prime suspect with given your explanation, seems shock absorber as they aren't doing their job to absorb the shocks. Springs do sag, but quiet rarely and you can fully identify that point after changing the shock absorber. If you suspect that ride height has lower than before then springs must have sagged. I had a 2012 Mustang GT with stock setup and it was pretty reasonably setup at stock suspension for normal road usage and daily driving. If I really wanted to push the car for corners I would have upgraded the suspension, so choice is yours again to stick to OEM (if its daily driver) or upgrade if you like to do roundabout and hairpin bend at high speed.
  21. Only if you have found the threaded tow hook. Without tow hook it is not at all advisable to venture offroad for your own safety.
  22. Hi Nayan, indeed it's too late to dig in now, seems like you might have a threaded tow hook in front and hitch at back covered in plastic cap. Google it. Ideally explorer have an optional tow package for offroad use, look into that option in future for stronger tow hooks as threaded ones are borderline OK and not ideal for deep stuck.
