  2. Well done @Frederic for listing almost every possible thing require for camping in one place. This will def help a lot of people who think buy a camp - is just enough to start camping. It took me 2 weeks prep for researching, buying, stacking things for my first salalah trip.
  3. Totally agree on this one and also should have all expectation set in the beginning than opening any surprise on the way to detour here and detour there. I screwed two oman trips in exact same way.
  4. Beautiful trip report and idea to document all good places to visit in Oman in one place. WELL DONE. I would also love to hear the drive time, total number of days and approx cost. Looking forward to see you leading this Oman trip next, so we can join. Here are few place that I have explored earlier in Oman: Jabal Shams Ras al Jinz Wadi near sur Sink hole Salalah
  5. 10K, OMG somebody is showing off his fitness regime here 😝......impressed. Of course you can leave early with the google maps, as place we plan to chill is very much showing on all maps. Just when you reach to the road (5-7 kms), call us back to update.
  6. Nope it's not the ebay - faux leather one for 40-50 dhs. For genuine leather there were only two options I found with legit review and product: Superskin - 100 - 200 dhs with shipping Wheelskins - 400 - 500 dhs with shipping Of course product wise wheelskins look and feel more premium but as it was DIY stuff and I was doubtful on my sewing skills, which I have never done it before so opted for superskin to give it a try. As now I know the basics and gone through the learning curve, next time i'll go with the wheelskins. Anyone wish to go this route, here are my learning that helped me a lot for great results: Prewax the thread to not to have fraying or entangling during the sewing process. Punch the holes with same needle once before installing, as factory holes are very tight. Keep adjusting the center seam during the installation, as I lost track on the thumb area twice. Supplied thread and leather was of very nice quality that it didn't tore the leather or thread broke while I was stretching on the previously leather padded area. My size was perfect for the wooden trim, but on the leather area it was few mm short, so stretching and pulling few times did the trick and gave the snugly fitting look. I should have done this long ago, as I was super tired with changing wheel cover every 3 months and then driving with shabby and torn wheel cover for next 3 months due to busy schedule - all the time. And we never find time for such a small thing and it will only strike back when we start driving again. Now Im driving and keep on rolling hand on leather and fingers on the stitches to have a big smile and satisfaction.
  7. That's all we can do, F.SADLY. There should be a MF better way to deal with such situation for lame mechanic who boils car owner blood, waste time and money and in end just shrug the shoulders and off to next victim to suck there money.
  8. I know mixing red and green color radiator coolant is totally unacceptable, but can we mix different brands of same color - green coolant while top up? I have filled originally with Mitsubishi coolant and then used ENOC green coolant occasionally to top up since last 1 year. Recently added Prestone green coolant to top up and now I had 3 leaks in 3 weeks. So doubting if coolant mixing could be the cause or is it a pure coincidence.
  9. Finally I found the car steering cover that I have been looking for leather steering wheel cover after lot of research and patience. Custom upholstery guys told me 350 dhs and leave car for 1 day, both things were no-no for me. It's a DIY cover that took almost 3 hours for me to sew it together. Driving feel is priceless now to hold this with a smile.
  10. New custom made with same working specs as the old one.

  13. Thanks Barry, where exactly should we stick this pressure tester? And how we can put in few more PSI than normal for testing purpose?
  14. I understand what you are saying, but it is leaking from different components and not one hose after another hose. Radiator -> Heater Hose -> Water pump. Something is not right to fail 3 different things in a row. Even it's old, all parts are original OEM and changed regularly, then why all are failing one after the other, crazy coincidence. If this new custom radiator has some flaw (just assuming), can it burst things in cooling system....?
  15. Few drives back I had a bit of nose dive and (I assume) radiator clutch fan has touched the radiator. No immediate damage or leak spotted but after 2-3 weeks, coolant started leaking under the radiator from the center. On first look, mechanic spotted that clutch fan stamp on the radiator and assume that it is the radiator leaking and we need to change the radiator. After layers of headache as it was custom made radiator, we sourced identically same radiator (3 core, copper and brass) and replace the old one and leak stopped. After one week, coolant started leaking from behind the engine. This time mechanic spotted that coolant feed and return pipe to the heater is burst and need to be changed. We changed both pipes with OEM part and leak stopped. After one week, now coolant leaking from center of the engine and on recent diagnose it seems now water pump is leaking. First two incident may or may not be the coincidence, but third failure of water pump now make me wonder what is wrong here to have these series of failure one after the other.
  16. Steering rack can be rebuild, last year trailblazer steering rack leaked due to winching when tires were pointing in the other direction. I think it costed me 600 dhs, can't rem exact amount. Two months later it leaked again and the guy who rebuild it, fixed again without any additional charges as rebuild had 3 or 6 months guarantee, i paid for labor only for the second time.
  17. Good morning, this is very old video taking rounds on social early this year just after the Jimny launch. God knows the authenticity or if it was a paid influencer job. You must have got the ice bucket challenge now in RAK huh. And if in today's world you believe everything you see on screen, then you are saint bro. I don't even believe my own eyes "unless" I see good number of repeat heros as everyone here like/drive sleeper cars and I have been fooled quite so many times by "Pride of the Land", "King of the offroad", "Best 4x4 by far" media and marketing bs and wasted ton of money and time to go home frustrated. It's been close to an year now this new Jimny launched, and I personally have not seen 1 in the UAE desert yet. I have seen 4 - 5 on the road only. Maybe they all are busy with liwa rounds. Hope you know in Jimny engine swap is the most easy and RTA friendly as 4 cyl to 4 cyl, but from 1.2/4L (76-100 hp) to 2.0L (160+ hp) vitara engine that kick ass with enough body-weight ratio to make this dinky literally fly on every dune.
  18. Nope it doesn't brake, it just make loud beep beep beep just like reverse camera does, just beep system to alert the collision.
  19. Not sure my Range had anti collision with DCC but one feature I use to love was shouting a loud beep if I drive too close to anyone or have distracted attention for a split second and front car brakes. That's an awesome feature.
  20. Fog or such natural causes are only exception for delayed drive start, otherwise we should always start and finish on time. Waiting for one or few is disrespectful to all others time who were punctual.
  21. Try driving adaptive cruise to cruise down the highway here, you will know the stupidity of designer and also impulsive road user here. Both are at extreme. Fred, your car also had a 100 meter braking distance or is it Range only....?
  22. I use cruise control pretty much all the time, it's less stressful for following speed limits and error free to not to get speeding ticket.
  23. Hope you heard from Rahimdad or Sri, if not still make it to the meeting point and jump in with anyone, you will enjoy.
