I know little about CL class but w y don't you access the diagnostic mode on your merc's display and look at the temperature levels of different aspects or pressure levels? I am assuming it might as well have one. Those help establish where the problem is arising from, a leak, compressor problems due to electrical problems and so on and so forth.

Hi guys, Not to sound too technical but ... This is a common problem on the S Class which occurs because of the P lock solenoid in the gearshift module - sadly the module is only available as one complete unit and must be replaced as the complete gearshift. It also requires coding after it is fitted in.
