  1. For buying BF Goodrich you can check Al Shami Auto Tyres Trading Company LLC , Phone +971-4-2850049, Rashidiya, Near Max Garage. or Al-Futtaim Motors – Tyres & Batteries Division Tel: +9714 2859717, Fax +9714 2857609 or http://www.icon-auto.com/alteti.html
  2. BFG is good choice, best of both world for good on road comfort with very less noise and very capable offroad tread design. If tire doesn't rub on front wheel arc on turning, get them installed now and then get the lift sorted later on.
  3. Sad to see this happening, what you can try is to change the gear oil and filter to start with. It may sounds very less to fix your problem, but sometime low cost things actually fixes the problem and many mechanic keep you busy with expensive repairs to fill their pockets / experiments. If gear oil is bad and stale then it definitely create lag in gear shifting or make jerk while shifting. And MAY BE that's why computer is still showing solenoid is bad as oil is too thick to lubricate the gear plates and shift in time. If after gear oil and filter change still problem persists, i would highly recommend showing car to gear repairing guys than normal mechanic and computer checks. There is one in Ras Al Khor road known as ZF, very renowned in gear rebuilding and repairing. Good luck bro, keep us updated.
  4. Oryx, its just a matter of interest people reply or not reply on any forum. So may be ur request isnt interesting to others or people have not much info to share. So far this place work for me and i myself return that help by helping others. I have ranchos (red ones) adjustable on my Patrol since two years with almost every once a month dune bashing. In winters little less, as im traveling on business but in summer more often. My friend has Old Man Emmanuel since 6 month, and he is happy too. Stay away from rough country as my another frriend got that installed and within 4-5 months he saying he is not happy due to car been more bouncy in desert on cross track terrain, (the firmness is lost). Qatar and middle eastern terrain is mostly sandy with hot weather so see what people doing here than in colder weather, my two cents. Good luck with ur hunt.
  5. First and foremost, best desert tire size is 15 inch or 16 inch. 17 onwards it becomes crap in sand per my personal experience. So increase the base and profile of tire but not rim size. You can look into like 300+/75/16 About ur lift kit names, all australian brands mentioned above is commonly available in Dubai (Ramy Trading, Icon Auto, Robbies Garage) and Sharjah (MOCA, Tazweed, Golden sun). In US list u can get Ranchos an EMU, but im not sure about other names, never heard so far here locally. New shape Pathfinder here, we call it plastic pig. That means you really need to protect under body very well before hitting wadi's and serious dune bashing. Weakest point is plastic protection under radiator base, easy to hit on slightest road bump....!
  6. Autozone in rashidiya is good, done my few car work of Nissan and Toyota there. Ahmad big fat paki fellow is really helpful and understanding there.
  7. Gear oil is changed every 40k kms, so you do your maths when have you changed it last per present kms. If not sure, better change it than breaking the gear. For gear oil changing you can go to Mobil 1 oil change center in karama before sana fashion if you coming from garhoud bridge, its just near emarat petrol station in inside service lane.
  8. 4.8 vtec is better than older 4.5 used to come, still fuel consumption best bet is dont race full throttle too much drive at low rpm as much as you can, shift to hi gear faster and plan brakes
  9. Yes g69, they will not say anything but make a remark in ur service history that you are using different air filter. And the day you ask them to change anything like wiper fluid, blade, tire which has no connection to air filter use, they will simply say ur warranty is void. They need any simple minutest change to put blame to void warranty. They did same with me when one of my tire was swollen which is clearly a manufacturing defect and they just blame my K&N air filter as this air filter must have produced 1 trillion more horse power to spoil the tire.
  10. get a second opinion before you do anything from a good workshop as its a lengthy and expensive procedure.
  11. Go to dynatrade in Aweer, they are much better and efficient. Better take the car and show than asking on phone. BTW: I hate all caps
  12. Is the car properly serviced on time and per service interval you are doing everything? If yes get the engine diagnostic check that tell you if car is running on rich fuel, could be simple tune up is needed or may AFM sensor is freaked and running rich.
  13. Not sure about AD, but if you have ACE Hardware in AD then they def sell touch up paints in small bottles and pens. Or else may be you can drive towards Mussafah and get professionally touched up with painter.
  14. If your car is in extended warranty, then you can hit the dealer. If not take second opinion from another garage and if both says same then i am sorry you got to buy new compressor. 08 model would be very tough to find in shj scraps either.
  15. Hey Daniel, better the original but if you still like the used one then your best bet would be bit of hunting in shj industrial area behind city center. There you will find many scrap for japanese cars.
